Carnival

Hermione pov

It was the day before school started. Everyone was packed. Everyone had their books and robes. They all were nervous.

The Wealsey apologized for the way they acted. I obviously forgave them. I had my healer appointments and everything was going well.

For the first time in a while I felt happy. It was nice to be myself and not be on the run.

Harry was on his way over. We were going to a carnival. He never been to one and always wanted to go. On the run we both made a list of things we wanted to do once the war was over. This was one of the things he wanted to do, since never in his childhood he had done this. We decided not to tell Ron. It was when Ron ran away.

He told the Weasley that he was just going to help me finish packing. I got him a pack of muggle clothes. Most of his muggle clothes were dirty so he threw them out.

I was wearing black leggings and a light gray sweatshirt that had the name of the college my adopted mother went to. I had more than enough muggle money to pay. Harry didn’t have any.

I sat in the living room waiting. Draco came in with a sandwich.

“Hey Mia.” He sat down beside me.

““Mia”? Since when do you call me that?” I looked at him.

He took a bite of his sandwich. “Just now. I figured I needed a new nickname for you. Granger doesn’t really work anymore. It’s too complicated. And no way I’m calling you “Mione”. That’s Potheads nickname for you already so I made this one.”

Mia. Hm, I like it.”

“Good because I wasn’t going to change it.” I laughed. “Why are you dressed in muggle clothes?" He looked and saw that I was also holding my purse. "Where are you going?”

“I’m going with Harry to a Carnival.” He looked confused. “It’s basically where you pay for tickets and go on fun rides and eat junk food. It’s hard to explain.”

He hummed. “Sounds interesting. I want to go to this so-called carnival.”

“That’s a genius idea! We can get Pansy, Theo and Blaise to also come. I’m sure Harry will be more than fine to let you go. He would want to see how all of you act. He would totally make fun of you.” She laughed to herself.

“I will go tell everyone else.” He said in a smile as he walked off.

Narrator pov

They stood at the ticket stand. Harry was wearing a t-shirt with a band logo and blue jeans. Blaise wore a blue shirt with black joggers. Pansy was wearing leggings and a white shirt with a gray zip-up jacket. Theo had on jeans and a sweatshirt with the city's name. Draco wore light gray sweatpants and a tight black shirt.

Hermione paid and got tickets. They all were fascinated with the carnival. The lights, rides, food, even people.

“LOOK!” Theo silently screamed and pointed to a girl. “SHE IS BASICALLY SHOWING ALL HER BODY! ALMOST HAD NO CLOTHES ON!”

Hermione and Harry laughed so hard. “Theo you should like a virgin!” Harry yelled out laughing.

“She is wearing a tube top and jean shorts.”

“Did you ever wear anything like that!?!” Theo asked both of the heroes.

“Not me.” Harry said. “I was too busy living under stairs.”

Hermione chuckled at what he said. She knew of Harry’s past. “I have, but never both together.”

Theo laughed. Blaise pointed to the cotton candy. “What is that! It looks so weird.”

“It’s called cotton candy. It’s basically just sugar with coloring.” She knew blaise wanted to try some. She went over and purchased a bag and walked back. “Here Blaise.” She handed him the cotton candy.

“Thanks Mia!” He took a bit. His eyes instantly grew. “I have no idea if I like this or not.”

The rest tried some. Draco pointed out to the ride with hanging swings. “What is that?”

“It’s a ride. You go on the swings and it brings you in the air and you go in circles.”

“Can we try?” Pansy asked excitedly.

Hermione and Harry both nodded. They walked over to the line. The line ended quickly. They showed the worker their tickets. Hermione grabbed a swing next to Harry. Draco and Blaise were behind them. Lastly was Theo and Pansy.

“Sit in the seats and buckle up. It goes around your waist. And the string next to it will tighten it. Make sure it’s tight. You don’t want to fall off.” Hermione said.

Theo looked nervous. They all did. Harry knew why going on but was still nervous. Hermione has done this many times before with her adopted parents. The worker made sure they were all secure in their seats. He started the ride. They all soon went flying. Pansy was screeching. Blaise looked like he was crying. Draco's eyes flew open. Theo's eyes closed shut. Harry was screaming with joy. Hermione was laughing and enjoying everyone's reactions.

She felt happy with her friends. They meant the world to her. But she knew it was all going to change. Something always happened at Hogwarts. Good or bad. She couldn’t shake off the feeling of something bad going to happen.
