Injury and confused
My head felt like it was just hit with a rock. I opened my eyes. I saw that I was in bed. With hospital clothes. I was in St Mungo’s. I saw that no one was in the room. I sat up in bed. How did I get here? Then the memories came back to me.
Great, I thought. I saw someone come in. It was a nurse. She saw me up in the bed and called the healer. Everything was so quick. My head was pounding. The healer walked in surprised to see me up and awake. How long was I out for?
“Hello Miss Granger. I’m Healer Clif. You're at St. Mungo's. Do you remember anything from early?” Mr. Clif asked. I didn’t know what to say. My head was pounding.
“Um, how did I get here?” I asked in a rough voice.
“You were in a bar and it was set on fire. A barista came and told the ministry to come because of an death eater. They found you in the fire with a shield around you. You were passed out. They don’t know how you were able to keep the Shield up when you were out.”
“Oh, I’m remembering everything.” I saw the faces of my parents knowing they were now dead. I just wanted them to comfort me but they weren’t here.
“I am going to get Shacklebolt. He wants to ask you a couple of questions.” He said with a smile and left. What the hell was I going to do? I can’t tell Kingsley my parents are dead. I just can’t. But I know I have to. A tear dropped from my eye. I closed my eyes hoping this was just a nightmare.
Kingsley walked in with a smile. I didn’t smile. I just looked at him. He sat down on a chair by my bed.
“Hello Hermione, it’s nice to see you again.” He said with a smile. I didn’t say anything. I didn’t know what to say.
“I guess you have been through a lot. I understand that you may not want to talk.” He said in a tone.
“I will talk. But something will have to be classified, to make sure no one finds out. This is not important information for you but for me, it matters. And I don’t want anyone to find out why I was there.” I said in pain. He looked at me and signed.
“I guess it matters why you were there. If it’s important then I may have to tell people.”
“Trust me, it’s not important why I was there.”
“Why were you there? You have been gone for three weeks. The Weasley say you went because you wanted to relax after the war. But you don’t seem so relaxed.”
“I was looking for someone.”
“Who were you looking for Hermione?” I didn’t respond. There were tears in my eyes. They started to fall.
“My parents.” I said as I looked away. Kings was confused.
“Why were you looking for your parents? What happened?” I signed accidentally.
“I decided after the war that I couldn’t stay at the Weasley house. They just lost a family member and it wasn’t fair for me to stay there. I decided to look for my parents because before/during the war I obviated their memories of me and the wizarding world. I did this because I was afraid that a death-eater would come and kill them. It was safer for them. Even if I hated it.” I took a breath and continued. “After the war, I left the Weasley and went to Australia. I looked for my parents everywhere. I eventually got a lead from the muggle internet. I went to the location and knocked on the door to nobody to answer. Nobody was home.” There were tears on my face. I quickly wiped my tears for more to replace them. “The mailman told me they died. They died in a bloody car accident. Which is transportation for muggles. Either way I was despised by their death and went to the bar. It was me, the barista, two older men and the man which I now know was a deatheater. The barista told me she saw a mark on his arm. I told her to get the ministry and to get the two older men out. Then me and the death-eater talked. He said that he was going to kill everyone there but saw me and his plan changed. He wanted revenge for his brother, wife and son who are now dead. We started to duel and I was winning so he set the place on fire.”
Kingsley stared at me. Confused on something. He was thinking. We went a minute without talking. He opened his mouth to talk.
“I still don’t understand how you were able to keep a shield up without being conscious. It almost doesn’t make sense.” He said in a confused tone.
“Almost?” Why did he say 'almost’? He looked hesitant to tell me.
“It was years ago.” He signed. “22 years ago to be exact. A death-eater was being attacked by the ministry; he put up a force field and fainted. His backups got there and we had to retreat.”
“Who was he?”
“4 years later we managed to capture him and found out it was Mathew Zabini.”
“Zabini? Does his son know about the shield effect?”
“Not even his own wife knows. The ministry kept it a secret because we didn’t want people to think that it was possible.”
We both became quiet. Both in our own train of thoughts. It was known that the Zabjni family were death-eaters but it was still surprising.
“I will say you went to Australia for order reasons since basically everyone knows now that you are a member and that we are not allowed to say but I want you to know that the order will know that that is just a cover.”
“Thank you! Thank you so much! I just want nobody to know. It’s better for people to just not know.”
“Even your friends?” I looked down at my bed. I didn’t know if I would tell my friends. Didn’t even think of it. It took a while just to tell Harry and Ron about me obliviating my parents.
“I don’t know. I guess I will in time.” There was one more thing on my mind I needed to know. “How long was I out for?”
“Today it is June 9. You have been out for a day.”
