Funeral
Here lies Marlene McKinnon.
August 7th 1959 - February 23rd 1979
May she rest peacefully in Elysium
Loving friend, daughter and partner
Dorcas stares ahead at the gravestone, eyes blank. It's been four days and Dorcas still couldn't comprehend that she is gone. Everything happened so fast, which makes sense as funerals were getting rushed these days, there wasn't enough time to mourn with the war of terror going on. Marlene had just been out visiting her family, and then Dorcas got a call. The call. It was the call everyone was scared of getting these days, fear stemming from an uncertainness of the future, if they'd ever have one.
Dorcas stood alone, watching as people came up to the stone and spoke, saying goodbye, to her love. People may have spoken to her too but she wouldn't have noticed.
Eventually, after what felt like both a minute and an eternity, she was the last one at the site. Alone alongside the ever filling field of stones. She thought of everything that had happened, the events that led to right here and now. She thought of things that could no longer happen, all because of a blood-purist who decided he was right to play god, judge, jury and executioner. Rage comes next, like a tsunami slowly building up inside her, it fills her up as she thinks of their spoiled future. Rage at one man, him and all his little followers. He cannot be allowed to get away with this.
Decision made, Dorcas turns away from the gravestone and begins her walk towards the entrance of the cemetery, as she goes, she leaves one parting message to her fallen beloved.
"I’m going to avenge you, my love. I’m going to kill Lord Voldemort."
