Chapter 2
School wasn’t much better than home, last year the bullying was so bad they had to give her a room separate from the other girls in her house. This year would be the same. The train ride passed by quietly. A few kids popped their heads in trying to find a seat but left when they saw who was in the compartment. There was one girl who would sit with her but she would be driven to school this year after what happened on the train last year.
Luna was a good friend to euridian which was why she had to Luna’s father what had been going on. Luna never understood that the other kids were teasing and bullying her she just thought all of her friends were playing a game. Until it got out of hand and one boy had ‘accidentally’ pushed Luna down the stairs. That had been Euridians breaking point and Luna wasn’t the only one who needed to go to the hospital that day. After that Euridians father had banned her from continuing her friendship with Luna as she ‘was clearly a bad influence if you’re beating up boys.’
The door to her compartment opened once again but instead of someone she didn’t know she saw Theodore Nott her brother's best friend. She looked away from him as he entered the compartment and sat on the bench across from her.
“Réalt, how was your summer?” Theodore asks using the nickname he gave her, her first year.
He stares at her waiting for a response “It was alright, got knocked off my horse last week though got a black eye” She continues to stare out the window not looking at him scared he’ll see the truth in her eyes.
“Your brother couldn’t get away from the idiots swarming him but he wanted me to come check on you.” He leans forward on his knees almost reaching across the whole compartment with his body. The smell of his cologne wafts towards Euridian and she tries to ignore how much she enjoys the scent.
“You can tell him Im fine Theodore.” She doesn’t make eye contact in hopes that he’ll leave and she’ll be able to breathe again.
“Oh come on Réalt don’t be like that” he reaches out and softly touches the black streak in her hair twirling it between his fingers, and her eyes close. “Ive always loved your hair” Euridian snaps back to reality and her eyes open, Theodore is only inches away from her face, and she can feel his breath on her skin. Her mouth opens slightly to say something but she thinks better of it and breaks eye contact looking back out the window. Theodore’s hand falls from her hair and he stands from the bench, she thought she heard him sigh as he turned to leave.
Euridian reaches out a hand to stop him before he goes, “Thank you Teddy, you're a good friend to my brother.”
He smiles weakly and replies “Right… your brother” and he leaves the compartment.
