"You never-" he breathed out "you never loved me?" he said, his voice cracking towards the end. his throat felt dry and his eyes were glassy due to the conversation that occured few minutes earlier.

The blond Infront of him stood still, not uttering a word, but her face showed the emotion she was feeling at the moment. Guilt.

"You are joking right?" he asked again, forcing a weak smile. His smile wavered when she remained quiet. "right?" he repeated.

No. just no. He refused to believe it. The girl Infront him. His first and only ntrue friend. The girl he trusted the most. the same girl he fell for....

No. She is just joking. She had to be. but the look on her face...

"Why?" He said softly "why Val?"

She flinched at the nickname, and it somehow made him feel even worse. She looked up. Hazel eyes meeting grey ones. the same hazel he had come to adore.

Her eyes were shinning, like always. But not the same way as before. It used to be due to mischief or when she used to burst out laughing. oh how much he love those laughs

But now, they were shinning due to tears gathered in her eyes. She looked angry at herself.

"I am sorry Regulus" Regulus. Not Reg.

"I didn't had a choice" she said faintly "Trust me, I didn't"

Trust her? after all this, she expect him to trust her?

"Why" he repeated again.

She took a deep breath and then said "M-My family was in debt with your family. When your mother gave my father an option to pay the debt without paying the money, so ofcourse he agreed"

Hurt. Anger. Betrayal. He was feeling all this emotions at the moment.

"You thought it was cool? playing with my feelings like this" he spoke, gritting his teeth

"I told you! I didn't had a choice!" she said, her voice rising as tears fell from her eyes "I was supposed to make you trust me and tell whatever you tell me to your parents! If I could lie, I would have but they straight up used legilimency on me!"

She stopped, took a deep breath and continued in a low voice " And when you confessed your feelings, my father was over the moon! anything to make ties with the house of black. I was again forced into another act"

Regulus shut his eyes at the word 'act'.

"You never loved me then,huh? he said, already knowing the answer

"No" regulus never thought one word will ever hurt him so much.

"I am sorry Regulus" and with that she brushed past him and left the room. He was left alone. Like always
