Don't Hide Your Mistakes Cause They'll Find You.
A bird and snake are intertwined in desperate battle. The bird unable to fly as wound as it is in coils, the snake unable to escape as trapped as it is in talons.
In another world Harry Potter had wished so desperately for a friend that he had pulled the golden mark from his skin in the form of a snake-like creature that blinked up at him with friendly intentions.
In that other world the snake-like creature had been yanked from his hands and thrown into the fireplace, the mark burning as the creature desperately escaped back into ink, bringing with it blistered skin and boiling blood.
In another world Harry Potter got to grow up with his parents, and his soulmate who bore the mark of a golden bird taught him everything about magic and his birthright.
In another world his soulmate hadn't been insane when the mark first appeared on his skin. He hadn't heard the first half of the prophecy and assumed the mark meant they were destined to be enemies. He had known that the great impact could be positive, he had gone to the Ministry and heard the full prophecy before acting. He would've looked upon the two children, with an eagle and a snake and hadnt felt the need to destroy them.
That was in another world though.
In this world Harry Potter had never succeeded in pulling the golden snake from his skin, had spent countless hours looking for the snakes species with no luck. It's not until he makes it to Hogwarts that he learns his soulmate was the one who killed his parents. That to call the creature out of his skin would send a beacon straight to his soulmate with his location.
It wasn't until several years later, while bored and hiding away in the Order of the Pheonix's headquarters did he find a potion ingredients book with the animal of his mark.
A legless lizard.
How humorous.
When years later, he's facing down his soulmate, prepared to die to defeat him, he sees the golden bird on Voldemort's hand and recognizes the vulture for what it was.
This was inevitable. They were both doomed from the start. He hoped they met again, in another life.
He would later look upon the black mark and feel guilt and sorrow for the life that had been ruined before it had a chance to live.
Children born under Amortentia aren't born with soulmates.
