Just One Night
About a week after their first day, Lucy was lying in bed thinking over her time so far in the school. There had been a few..rough patches but overall she was happy here. The girl was just drifting off to sleep when she was jolted awake by the feeling of being shaken.
"Wh-what the hell?" She wiped one of her eyes and squinted trying to make out who it was that had woken her, she assumed it was her brunette friend but..
"Luce! Wake up!"
Her face changed from annoyance to pure anger. "Natsu?! This is a GIRLS dorm!" She yelled though through a whisper.
"So?" He replied, his face contorted with confusion.
Her jaw dropped and her eyebrows raised. 'How could someone ACTUALLY be this stupid?'
"You can't be in here! It's an invasion of privacy!" She croaked back.
"I gotta show ya somethin'!" He ignored her and pulled her up by her hand. She held back her scream realising the other girls were still fast asleep. Lucy was still very much in her pyjamas. A silky top, paired with matching shorts, they were a pale blue and the same colour as the ribbons that tied her hair into two loose pigtails.
She followed in suit, although she didn't have much of a choice as he just kept running holding her hand firmly. She felt her feet reach the cold stone of the castle floor. "Natsu where do you think you're taking me?" She mumbled, as to not be overly loud. She presumed it must've been only 5 in the morning at best, as the sun was still buried.
"Just keep following me!" He said, calling back to her and turning his head, greeting her with a toothy grin.
She wouldn't say it was unusual for the boy, he did had pulled her away before, but she still didn't appreciate it. Especially considering that it was always at the worst of times. For example, the last time her had dragged her away, it had been during a very exciting and private talk with Levy, who had been attempting to tell Lucy who had caught her eye as of late. What was worse is that he had only dragged her to to show her the growing mould and moss around the bookshelves of the 'private' section within the library.
She had been trying to tell him that she wasn't interested in become friends with a bumbling idiot, who couldn't even tell the difference between a potion and an herb, and yet the pinkette just refused to listen. She didn't really know why she didn't like him, but everything he did seemed to annoy her. And yet he still tried to make conversation at dinner, share interests, and at one point he had even asked if they could study together. But as much as she loved reading and writing by the fire, she couldn't with him, it might even ruin her own hobby.
Lucy was hit with the crisp and cold morning air as Natsu pulled her along the bridge between two of the buildings. Finally, however suddenly, he stopped and approached the edge of the bridge. "Look up there! It's Aquarius! Isn't that the one you were looking for the other night?" Lucy's eyes followed his point up to the stars. Sure enough there was the constellation she had been hoping to see. It reminded her of her first friend, who passed away only a few years prior.
As much as she hated the guy for all his chaotic nature, she knew he had good intentions. She found herself surprisingly touched by this, all be it strange, gesture. She turned back to him and let a small smile play on her lips. "Thanks, dumbass." She whispered, watching his own grin widen and his arms raise. "Yeah we're not like that." She said bluntly, physically pushing away his invitation for a hug. His smile faltered slightly but continued.
"Next time, warn me before you yank me out of bed at 5 AM." she glared at him. "Don't spoil it Luce! And you're welcome." He beamed again and Lucy turned, sighing heavily and making her way back to her dorm.
✨✨✨
It had only been a few hours, but she would take any extra sleep at this point. The blonde sighed, bundling her hair into a messy bun and slipping off her pyjamas to change. "Ya just gonna strip right in front of us?" Cana smirked, looking a half naked Lucy up and down. She yelped and pulled her thick white sheet over her lacy blue underwear.
"Sorry.. I kinda forgot you were there." She replied, her face bright red from embarrassment.
"Someone must've had a rough night last night" Lisanna giggled, chiming in. She wouldn't call it rough, per-say, just interesting..
"Yeah.." she smiled in response, not feeling energised enough to explain her daze.
Reluctantly, the girl sat up and made her way into the communal showers and, after a much needed refresher, the girls began their second week of classes.
“Lucy!!”
“Hey Levy!” Once again the two girls met in the great hall.
“Do you have a second yet?” Levy was being with excitement, which wasn’t exactly surprising. The poor girl had been trying all week to tell Lucy the guy she liked but each time Natsu had found some stupid way to interrupt.
“Yes,” She giggled at the sparkle in her friend’s eyes, “but you better hurry up and say it before that idiot finds us!”
“Okay soo, you see that boy, at the Slytherin table?” Lucy paused, nervously turning to see the guy. The familiar sight of spiky black hair met the end of the point at which Levy was gesturing to.
“Gajeel!? Levy I promise you do NOT want to get mixed up with that guy.” The blue haired girl looked taken aback.
“Look. I know he’s a bit loud but he’s actually really sweet!” Hearing this Lucy raised a suspecting brow, which was met with an innocent yet loving expression.
“Okay, I just don’t want you to get hurt, if he messes with you I’m never gonna forgive him.” The blonde squeezed her friends shoulder into a side hug.
“Thanks Lucy, love ya!” She grinned rushing to sit back down with Juvia.
Lucy smiled gently watching her friend skip away. She felt very protective over Levy and knew that Gajeel was definitely bad news, but she wasn’t about to judge her friends crush because she knew that would do much more harm than good.
“Lu-cy!” But before she could turn to see who it was, she saw the tanned arms, and felt the body heat of the salmon haired boy.
“What do you think you’re doing?” Lucy yelled pulling his arms away from her.
“Did you have a good sleep last night?” He snickered and smirked down at her.
“Oh shut up! I told you that we’re not friends! It was just one night.” She replied loudly but firmly, crossing her arms.
Natsu’s face changed, he was now looking heavily apologetic, “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to annoy you.”
Lucy was, suffice to say, very shocked at this reply. She had never seen him like this, so serious and gentle. “No it’s okay, I’m glad you showed me, thanks.”
His cheesy smile reappeared and he turned and walked down the table toward Gray.
“What was that about?” He questioned, staring up from his seat watching his pink haired friend sit down next to him.
“Nothin’.” He smiled to himself digging in to his breakfast. “What do we have first?”
“Potions..” Gray replied, “with Ravenclaw I think.”
“What’s a Ravenclaw?”
The pale boy’s jaw dropped in disbelief. “We’ve been at this school for almost two weeks and you don’t even know the other houses?”
Natsu turned to look at him, confusion painted on his face. “Sorry? Am I supposed to?”
“YEAH!” Gray yelled. “It’s no wonder you haven’t made any other friends, you’re such an idiot.” He continued bluntly.
“So you’re my friend ice princess?” Natsu smirked.
“Shut up!” His friend shouted, smacking him round the back of his head.
“Plus! I do have other friends, like Lucy!” He grinned, turning back to his plate.
