Different Timelines, Similar Tragedies
Summary
She was there, in another timeline. Where her significant other had lost her.Two people from different timelines, but with the same, pierced heart

In an alternate timeline:

Hermione Granger quietly stepped into the room of the Head Auror. The office, a large and quite an empty place for that had a desk in the middle, behind it a bookshelf and table.

She had to get the file and go back: return to her timeline as soon as possible. She was just going to open the drawers on the desk when she heard footsteps from outside. Immediately casting a disillusionment charm on herself, she took a few steps back into a space between a bookshelf and a table.

She saw him enter.

He almost looked the same, like he hadn’t aged a day.

Her heart ached.

He put the papers he held onto the desk and sat there staring at the wall in front. He seemed lost, like he was remembering someone. Then he took out a photo from his drawer, his moistening eyes fixed on the smiling figure, it was clear to her all of a sudden.

They both had lost each other. They both had broken hearts, beyond repair, unable to move on from their loss. She had to restrain herself from the sudden urge of hugging him, giving and receiving the comfort she longed, knocking a book from the bookshelf beside her in the process.

He immediately looked behind and she froze. He slowly got up, his deep blue eyes fixed on where she stood. Her heart beating wildly while he walked towards her and picked up the book. Putting it back on the shelf, a smile etched on his face. He went towards the door, uttering words in a low voice before leaving, almost as if they were meant to be heard only by her:

“I will always love you, Hermione Granger”
