Chapter 4
You came nearly flying across the room back to Regulus, a cup of water that chilled your hand. Your panicked look immediately made eye contact with Regulus who just stared blankly at you, he couldn’t really think the entire scene replaying in his mind.
“ What did he say to you” You said to the other male turning your head towards him quietly looking at Regulus for any signs of a physical altercation.
“ He called me a dog” He whispered out subconsciously and quite blankly with no real emotion coming from his voice.
“ What a prick,” You started scoffing slightly before you went to speak again shrugging, “ You remind me more of a cat anyway.”
“ …What?” Regulus said as he blinked a couple times in confusion as he looked back up at you.
“ You are more cat-like than dog.” You said simply, your mouth quirking up into a slight smile a little chuckle leaving your lips, Regulus matched your smile, a chuckle also escaping his lips as he practically forgot his previous thoughts.
“ Hey drink some water, I haven't seen you drink anything all night.” You encourage your hand, held out holding the glass of water to him. Regulus graciously accepted his fingers brushing softly across yours as the glass passed into his grip he carefully brought the cup to his lips the water wetting them as he sipped. When the glass was about halfway filled he handed the glass back to you.
“ Why don’t you drink some, as far as i’ve seen you haven’t drank anything.” He states back to you holding the glass out for you.
“ Oh no I'm good really.” You said shaking your head despite your tongue darting out to wet your lips ever so slightly.
“ Please, the last thing I need is you passing out on me.” Regulus lightly jokes as he raises his eyebrows ever so slightly while still holding the glass out to you.
You rolled your eyes slightly at his dramatics but you still accepted the glass raising it to your lips. You started to drink when mid-sip you remembered, Regulus had also drank from the glass now while you may usually be worried about germs you were more focused on the fact that it was kind of sort of indirect kiss, with the guy you cared for alot. Your eyes refused to look over to him as you nearly choked on the water. Regulus just watched silently perplexed at the shift in your behaviour until it hit him like bombardo. You had drank from where he did, your lips had touched where his had, you had indirectly kissed. His cheeks lit up, flushed, flushed like a drunk or a fever and he did not like that, he tried his best to cool down the flush by looking anywhere but at you. He couldn’t believe his reaction to this little thing. He was acting like a first year yet here he was failing at staying cool staring at your lips so intensely that one might think he was trying to hex them. You had quickly removed the glass from your lips as you both just stared at each other blinking and silent.
“ Well uh I think I'm going to head out for the night, honestly I was only planning on stopping by.” You shrugged, nodding your head towards the door.
“ Here, why don’t I walk you to your dorm?” Regulus suggested clearing his throat first, his eyes just ever so slightly avoiding yours as he kicked himself even more for acting like a fumbling first year.
“ What about your ‘date’?” You questioned forming quotations with your fingers when you said date.
“ Eh, I think they will be fine as long as Nott is here.” Regulus chuckled in response, looking over to still see his date flirting with the dissuaded Theodore Nott.
And so the two of you managed to slip out of the room unnoticed to both of your reliefs. The two of you just walked through the stone halls of the castle, soft clicks coming from your steps, the dark mixed with a small lumos spell from Regulus’ wand provided a quite calm environment. You had decided to go the “scenic” route despite there not being a real scenic route in Hogwarts, both of you knew it was just to continue to talk to the other. The two of you had just chatted, softly laughing in the dark hallways being careful to not let it echo, him even having to grab you from stepping off one of the moving staircases. However soon you reached your dorm hidden away in the back of the slytherin dorms. You knew your roommate was most likely at some party as they were quite popular amongst the houses so you didn’t have to worry about waking them up.
“ Thank you for, well everything tonight. I had a lot of fun.” You said grinning at him as you stood in front of your door.
“ Even with all the dramatics?” He questioned perplexity tainted his face.
“ Well yeah because I gotta spend time with you.” You half joked cocking your head to the side, the grin on your face growing. Now Regulus swore he was a first year as he thanked the shadows of the hall for concealing his flush; he was unsure how to respond except for nodding.
“ Uh yeah I better be getting to sleep, you should too ya know,” You stated before continuing “ Well Nighty night Regulus”
That when Regulus swore he nearly burst, You had inched towards him at the last second rising to your tippy toes and giving him a light kiss on the hollow cheek just slightly closer to the corner of his mouth than you meant to. It wouldn’t have been the worst if you did, you just wouldn’t want to have kissed him here in the dark of the hallway without him knowing it was coming. Especially with the high chance he did not reciprocate the feelings, you knew how averse he was to romantic affections. You turned on your heel, opening the door and swiftly walking inside before Regulus could respond. And yet he couldn’t respond despite wanting to, he couldn’t process what had occurred. So he had just shock ridden walked to room, and for someone so flirtatious one would believe he could take it yet from you it made his knees weak.
