Twin
A.N.:
I've always wanted to write a gentle, sweet Jenlisa story. Well, I tried before, but I guess my other stories either didn’t have the right plot or my characters just weren’t all that gentle—haha, more intense, actually. So, as I turn what was supposed to be a one-shot into a full-blown canon fanfic (oops), let me give you more of what I think—and hope—a loving, soft Jennie and Lisa would be like in real life.
Song inspiration for this chapter: Twin by Jennie.

The deafening cheers still rang in Jennie’s ears as she stepped off the Ruby Experience Seoul stage, her chest rising and falling with adrenaline. The lights, the music, the energy—it was everything.
But something in her heart still felt… incomplete.
Jisoo was in Bangkok, holding a fan meet, sending voice notes in their group chat full of dramatic wails about missing Jennie’s concert. Lisa was supposed to be in Tokyo, busy with Alter Ego promotions—Jennie had told herself not to expect her.
But Rosé had been there. Jennie had seen her in the crowd, screaming her name, singing along to every word, holding up a bouquet of roses like a proud best friend.
And then there was Chahee.
Jennie hadn’t expected her to come. Seeing her—her former best friend, the person she had once called her twin—had sent a pang through her chest.
Their eyes had met briefly, and for a moment, Jennie had hoped. But the moment passed, and Chahee had simply given a small nod before turning away.
It hurt. More than Jennie wanted to admit.
But before she could dwell on it, the moment she stepped backstage, Rosé came crashing into her, nearly knocking her off balance.
“JENNIE!!” Rosé squealed, squeezing her so tightly that Jennie could barely breathe. “You were INSANE! Oh my God, that was actually the best show ever, I’m still SHAKING—”
Jennie let out a breathless laugh, her heart swelling at Rosé’s excitement. “Rosie—”
“No, no, don’t even talk yet,” Rosé interrupted, pulling back to shake Jennie by the shoulders. “Do you understand what you just did?!? You ATE. You SLAYED. The outfits? Legendary. The dancers? Hot. The vocals? INSANE. The stage presence? UNMATCHED.”
Jennie chuckled, her exhaustion melting into warmth. “I didn’t think you’d even make it.”
Rosé gasped, offended. “Are you joking? I would NEVER miss your show. Even if I had to fly across the world in the middle of the night, I’d be here.”
Jennie softened, her heart clenching. “You’re the best, Rosie.”
“I KNOW.” Rosé grinned, handing her the roses. Then, with a mischievous glint in her eye, she whispered, “And speaking of surprises…” She tilted her head toward the corner of the room.
Jennie turned. And froze.
Because there, leaning against the vanity, hands tucked into her pockets, wearing a cap low over her eyes but failing to hide her smirk—was Lisa.
Jennie’s breath caught.
Lisa wasn’t supposed to be here.
“You’re late,” Jennie murmured, slowly stepping closer.
Lisa shrugged, her smirk growing. “Still made it before the end.”
And just like that, Jennie lost all control.
She practically threw herself into Lisa’s arms, gripping her jacket tightly, burying her face into her chest.
Lisa chuckled, pulling her in, arms wrapping around her waist like she belonged there. “Damn, Nini, you really did miss me.”
Jennie nodded, her voice muffled against Lisa’s jacket. “You weren’t supposed to be here.”
Lisa kissed the top of her head. “Would’ve been a crime if I missed this.”
Jennie pulled back slightly, her fingers fisting Lisa’s jacket. “How?”
Lisa’s gaze softened. “First flight out after show. I had to see you.”
Jennie swallowed hard, her throat tightening. “I thought you wouldn’t—”
Lisa silenced her by gently brushing her thumb over Jennie’s cheek. “You were incredible tonight.”
Jennie exhaled sharply.
“Chahee was here.”
Lisa’s expression flickered. “Yeah. I saw her.”
A beat of silence. Then—
“Did you talk?”
Jennie bit her lip. “Not really. Just… a nod. A small smile. It’s not the same anymore.”
Lisa rubbed her hands up and down Jennie’s arms, grounding her. “Because of what happened before?”
Jennie exhaled. “Because of me.”
Lisa frowned. “Baby—”
Jennie shook her head. “I was trying so hard to run from us back then. I thought… if I stayed away, if I drowned myself in other things, it would hurt less. So I pulled away from Chahee too.”
Lisa stayed quiet, letting her talk.
Jennie sighed. “She didn’t understand why I was suddenly always with Simi, Haze, Deb. And I couldn’t tell her the real reason—because it would mean admitting I still loved you.”
Lisa’s grip tightened slightly. “You still do.”
Jennie looked up, her gorgeous brunette eyes soft but certain. “Yeah.”
Lisa sighed, resting her forehead against Jennie’s. “You wrote ‘Twin’ for her, didn’t you?”
Jennie nodded, voice barely above a whisper. “It was my apology.”
Lisa’s thumb brushed over Jennie’s cheek. “Maybe she just needed to hear that. Really hear it.”
Jennie let out a small, breathy chuckle. “You always make things sound so simple.”
Lisa grinned, tilting her head. “Because I know you.”
Jennie leaned into Lisa, letting herself melt into her warmth.
The night had been overwhelming, the past still lingering, but this?
Lisa showing up. Lisa holding her, grounding her, choosing her.
Lisa held Jennie closer, feeling the way the brunette’s fingers gripped the fabric of her jacket like she never wanted to let go. And Lisa wouldn’t make her. Not now. Not after everything.
After a long silence, Jennie sighed, resting her head against Lisa’s shoulder. “I hate that I let it get this far.”
Lisa hummed, pressing a light kiss to Jennie’s temple. “It’s not too late, Jen.”
Jennie closed her eyes, inhaling Lisa’s familiar scent. Vanilla, a little bit of cologne, and something uniquely Lisa. It had always been like home.
“Chahee was my ride or die, you know?” Jennie whispered. “We used to tell each other everything. She was there before I even became Jennie Kim. But then I started pulling away, and one day, she just… stopped trying.”
Lisa held her tighter. “Did she really stop trying, or did she just give you space because she thought you wanted it?”
Jennie stilled, Lisa’s words hitting a little too hard.
“I mean,” Lisa continued, soft but firm, “You were doing everything you could to avoid me back then. You threw yourself into that crowd— the LA scene—because you thought it would help you move on. But maybe to Chahee, it just looked like you… left her behind.”
Jennie swallowed, the weight of regret settling in.
She remembered the quiet looks Chahee used to give her, the small hesitations before texting, the way she stopped calling first.
“Maybe I was too caught up in my own heartbreak to notice hers.” Jennie’s voice was small.
Lisa brushed a thumb over Jennie’s jaw, tilting her chin up gently. “Then talk to her.”
Jennie blinked up at her. “What if she doesn’t want to fix things?”
Lisa smiled, soft but sure. “Then at least you’ll know you tried. And if she really was your ride or die, I don’t think she’s completely gone.”
Jennie exhaled slowly, nodding. Maybe Lisa was right.
Lisa usually was.
But before Jennie could reply, Rosé’s voice cut through the moment, full of excitement.
“Okay, okay, I gave you two a moment,” Rosé said, stepping forward with her arms crossed, grinning knowingly. “Now it’s my turn.”
Lisa chuckled, reluctantly stepping back. “I figured you’d butt in soon.”
Rosé rolled her eyes before grabbing Jennie’s hands. “Seriously, Jen. That show? Legendary. You OWNED that stage.”
Jennie laughed, her heart feeling a little lighter. “Thanks, Rosie.”
Rosé’s gaze softened. “You’ve come so far. And I’m just—so, so proud of you.”
Jennie’s chest tightened.
There was something so undeniably safe about Rosé’s support—something she knew would never falter.
“Love you,” Jennie murmured.
Rosé beamed, pulling her into another hug. “Love you too, superstar.”
Lisa cleared her throat, smirking. “Alright, alright. You two done? Or should I step aside while you confess your eternal devotion?”
Rosé turned to her, narrowing her eyes. “You’re just jealous because you had to share.”
Lisa scoffed. “Please. Jennie’s mine.”
Jennie felt her cheeks flush, but before she could even react, Rosé groaned, dramatically throwing her head back.
“Oh my God, I’m leaving. I refuse to third-wheel right now.”
Jennie and Lisa laughed as Rosé started to turn away, shaking her head.
Lisa turned back to Jennie, her expression fond and playful. “So, now that I’m here, how are we celebrating?”
Jennie smirked. “Depends. You staying the night?”
Lisa raised a brow. “Do you even have to ask?”
Jennie rolled her eyes but tugged Lisa toward her again, fingers lacing through hers. “Then we’re going home.”
Lisa squeezed her hand. “Lead the way, baby.”
Just as Jennie and Lisa were about to leave, Rosé’s phone started ringing.
“Hold on—Jisoo’s calling,” Rosé said, grinning as she answered.
The screen lit up with Jisoo’s face, slightly blurry from the Bangkok lighting, but her wide, excited smile was clear as day.
“JENDEUKIE!” Jisoo screamed through the phone, making Rosé wince and pull the device away from her ear. “YOU KILLED IT! I SAW THE CLIPS, OH MY GOD—”
Jennie laughed, the stress of the night momentarily lifting. “Unnie, aren’t you supposed to be at your fan meet?”
“I AM! I WAS, AND THEY'RE ALREADY CALLING ME FOR ENCORE!” Jisoo whispered dramatically, glancing around as if her staff would find her at any moment. “But I HAD to call! You looked so hot.”
Lisa raised a brow. “I’m right here, unnie.”
Jisoo grinned. “And? You KNOW your girlfriend is hot. You’re just lucky I’m a loyal FRIEND.”
Jennie rolled her eyes, but her smile was bright. “Unnie, we were about to call you to congratulate you! Your fan meet looked amazing.”
“RIGHT?!” Jisoo gasped. “I was so nervous, but BLINKs were so loud! I almost cried—but I didn't because I’m a professional.”
Lisa smirked. “Didn’t you also almost cry on your debut stage?”
“LALISA, SHUT YOUR MOUTH.”
Jennie and Rosé burst into laughter, and just like that, it felt like old times—just four girls, teasing and loving each other like family.
Rosé grinned at the screen. “We’re so proud of you, Jisoo. And we miss you.”
Jisoo pouted dramatically. “I miss you too! Why do we always have to be in different countries? Who planned this?”
Lisa chuckled. “Blame the schedules, unnie.”
“Stupid schedules.” Jisoo sighed. “Okay, okay, I have to go before my manager finds me, but Jennie—mandu, you KILLED tonight. And Lisa—take care of her.”
Lisa smirked, wrapping an arm around Jennie’s waist. “Always.”
Jennie, feeling warm and happy in Lisa’s arms, whispered, “Love you, unnie.”
Jisoo softened. “Love you too, Jendeuk. Love all of you.”
Rosé, suddenly emotional, hugged Jennie and Lisa at the same time. “BLACKPINK FOREVER.”
Lisa groaned. “Ugh, stop, you’re getting sentimental—”
“SHUT UP, LISA! BLACKPINK FOREVER!” Jisoo and Rosé yelled in unison.
Jennie just laughed, feeling lighter than she had in weeks.
Her best friends were here. Her family. And Lisa was home.
What more could she ask for?
Later that night, Rosé stayed after eating dinner while Lisa and Jennie were curled up on the couch in Jennie’s apartment, sharing a blanket and eating from the same bowl of ice cream, Jennie’s phone buzzed.
A notification from Instagram.
Rosé, sitting across from them, lazily scrolling through her own phone, suddenly gasped. “Oh my God, Unnie! Look!”
Jennie furrowed her brows and grabbed her phone. When she opened Instagram, her breath caught.
Chahee had posted an Instagram story.
A short, blurry clip of Jennie on stage, bathed in red lights, singing “Twin.” The caption was simple:
“Proud of you, always.”
Jennie’s grip on the phone tightened. Her chest swelled with something between relief and sadness.
Lisa, who had been spooning another bite of ice cream, noticed the change in Jennie’s expression. “What is it, baby?”
Jennie swallowed and turned the screen toward her. “Chahee posted this.”
Lisa’s brows lifted as she read it. Then she smiled, her voice soft. “See? Told you. She’s not completely gone.”
Rosé, kicking her feet like an excited child, practically squealed. “This is huge, Jen. You should message her.”
Jennie hesitated, staring at the screen. It had been so long.
Lisa reached out, running a soothing hand down Jennie’s arm. “Take your time, baby. But if you want to fix things… this is a start.”
Jennie exhaled and nodded. “Yeah. Maybe I will.”

After Rosé left for the night, Lisa stretched dramatically on the couch, yawning. “Ughhh, I’m so tired. I should go home.”
Jennie, curled up beside her, gave her a deadpan look. “You literally unpacked in my closet already.”
Lisa grinned, not even trying to hide it. “Yeah, so? You’re kicking me out?”
Jennie scoffed, grabbing a pillow and whacking Lisa with it. “Stop pretending, you big baby. You were never planning to leave.”
Lisa gasped dramatically, clutching her chest. “Excuse me?! Maybe I was just waiting for you to beg me to stay.”
Jennie rolled her eyes but grabbed Lisa’s hoodie and tugged her closer anyway. “Shut up and just sleep here.”
Lisa smirked. “Hmm. You’re getting clingy, Kim.”
Jennie narrowed her eyes. “You just flew across the world to surprise me.”
Lisa shrugged. “Because I missed you.”
Jennie stared at her, expression softening. Then, with zero warning, she shoved Lisa backward onto the couch and climbed over her, trapping Lisa beneath her.
Lisa blinked. “Oh? Is this where I die?”
Jennie snorted, flicking Lisa’s forehead. “Idiot.”
Lisa grinned up at her. “Your idiot.”
Jennie pretended to gag. “Ugh. You’re so corny.”
Lisa wiggled her brows. “And yet you’re still on top of me.”
Jennie huffed, pretending to consider. Then, before Lisa could react, she buried her face in Lisa’s hoodie, nuzzling against her like a cat.
Lisa melted completely.
“Jennie Kim,” she murmured, voice dipping into something softer, sweeter.
Jennie just hummed, still nestled into her hoodie.
Lisa smiled, running a hand through Jennie’s hair. “If this is your way of saying you missed me too, I’ll allow it.”
Jennie pinched her side.
Lisa yelped.
Jennie giggled, finally looking up. “I did miss you, though.”
Lisa beamed, flipping them over so she was hovering above Jennie instead. “Yeah?”
Jennie raised a brow, lips quirking. “Obviously.”
Lisa leaned in, brushing her nose against Jennie’s. “Good.”
Then she kissed her—slow, deep, and lingering.
And Jennie kissed her back, knowing that no matter how many miles had separated them before, Lisa would always find her way back home.
