Chapter 47

A New Dawn for Sirius Black

Sirius Black’s POV

Standing in front of Gringotts, I couldn’t help but feel a strange mixture of emotions. It had been so long since I last walked these streets freely, without fear or shame, without the looming threat of Azkaban hanging over my head. But now, things were different. I was different. And today was a big step toward claiming what was rightfully mine.

I strode into Gringotts, the goblins eyeing me suspiciously as usual, though one nod from my account manager quelled any further stares. My lordship was something I had ignored for far too long. With my innocence now proven and my name cleared, I could finally take my place as the Head of the Noble and Most Ancient House of Black.

For the first time in what felt like an eternity, I wasn’t just Sirius Black, the reckless troublemaker or the wrongly accused prisoner—I was Lord Black, and it was time I started acting like it.

---

The official claim of my lordship was uneventful, but the consequences were going to shake the entire wizarding world. Disowning Narcissa and Bellatrix from the family magic had stripped Lucius Malfoy of much of his influence, and he wasn’t going to be happy about that. Narcissa’s marriage to Lucius had been strategically advantageous for him, but without the Black family’s magical backing, Lucius' status within the pureblood circles was going to take a hit. Not that I cared.

After I completed the ritual at Gringotts, I sat back and thought about everything that had led me to this moment.

Marlene. My heart ached as I thought of her. She had kept Alex hidden from me, fearing for his safety during the war. She had done what she thought was best, and I couldn’t blame her for that. But now that I knew the truth—that Alex McKinnon was my son—things had to change. I had missed so much of his life, and that was my fault. I had been too reckless, too caught up in my own fight against the darkness. But now, I had a second chance.

And Harry—James and Lily’s son. The boy I had sworn to protect, but failed. I couldn’t bear to think of the years he spent with those horrid relatives, unaware of his heritage, of his parents’ sacrifice. But now, I had both Harry and Alex in my life, and I intended to be there for them, to do right by them, to make up for the mistakes of the past.

Later that day, I met up with Remus at the Leaky Cauldron. He greeted me with a tired smile, his worn-out robes and weary eyes a stark contrast to my own energy. But he was still the same old Moony, and seeing him made the world feel a little more balanced.

“I hear you’ve been making waves, Sirius,” he said, sipping on his butterbeer. “Lordship, disowning Narcissa and Bellatrix... You’re really not pulling any punches, are you?”

I grinned. “It’s about time I took control of things. I’ve let too much slip by. But that’s not all. I’ve got some big plans, and I need your help.”

Remus raised an eyebrow. “Big plans, you say? What sort of trouble are you planning to get into now?”

“Not trouble—business.” I leaned in closer. “Alex—my son, in case you forgot—is a bloody genius. He’s come up with these incredible inventions: a magical postbox that sends messages instantly, and two-way mirrors that can be used like muggle phones. We’re going to sell them. We’re opening up a shop, and I want to call it Marauders Inc. It’ll be a way to keep our legacy alive—James, you, me, and even Peter... before he betrayed us.”

Remus blinked, stunned for a moment. Then, slowly, a smile spread across his face. “Marauders Inc., huh? Sounds... nostalgic. I like it. And you’re right, Alex is brilliant. We should do this.”

I nodded, the excitement growing in my chest. “But that’s not all. The Black family still holds a monopoly on certain herbology ingredients and potions. Lucius has been making use of those rights for years, but now that I’ve disowned Narcissa and Bellatrix, he’s got nothing. I’m going to take back control of those markets. We’ll open an herbology shop and a potion shop in Diagon Alley. I want to create something for Alex, for Harry, and for us.”

Remus looked thoughtful. “It’s ambitious. But if anyone can pull it off, it’s you. And Merlin knows the wizarding world could use some new innovations. Especially if it’ll annoy the purebloods.”

I laughed. “That’s the spirit. Plus, we can use the shops to hire more muggleborns and werewolves. Give people a real chance.”

Remus’ smile faltered a little at that. “Werewolves, huh? You know how hard that’ll be, don’t you?”

“Of course I do,” I said firmly. “But if anyone deserves a fair shot, it’s you and others like you. We can change things, Moony. It won’t be easy, but we can.”

Remus didn’t respond right away, but I could see the wheels turning in his head. Finally, he nodded. “Alright. I’m in.”

Lucius Malfoy’s POV

The news of Sirius Black’s return to power hit me like a curse. I had spent years carefully crafting my influence, using the Black family’s connections through Narcissa to bolster the Malfoy name. Now, with one stroke, that imbecile had undone it all.

Without the Black family’s magical support, Narcissa’s standing meant little in the grand scheme of things. And worse, Sirius had disowned both her and Bellatrix from the family magic, stripping us of what little leverage we had left. The Blacks held monopolies on several lucrative industries, and I had been counting on that income to secure my family’s future.

Damn that fool.

But this wasn’t over. I wouldn’t let some disowned criminal and his half-blood offspring ruin what I had built. I still had connections, still had power. And if Sirius thought he could outmaneuver me, he was sorely mistaken.

I would find a way to reclaim what was lost. And when I did, the House of Malfoy would rise again, stronger than ever.

Sirius Black’s POV

As Remus and I wrapped up our conversation, I felt more determined than ever. The future was uncertain, but I knew one thing for sure: I wouldn’t let the past dictate my life anymore. I was going to build something new—something worthy of the Black name. And with Alex, Harry, and Remus by my side, I knew we could succeed.

I reflected on my past mistakes, the reckless choices, the people I had failed. But now, I had a chance to set things right. For my family. For my friends. And for myself.

It was time to step up and be the man I was always meant to be.

The Marauders weren’t finished yet. Not by a long shot.
