Chapter 1
Jameson Potter's hands trembled as he clutched his keys, barely managing to unlock the front door of the apartment. He could still hear Sam’s harsh, slurring words echoing in his head, but he pushed them aside. There was no time to think about that now; his son needed him.
Inside, five-year-old Hari sat on the living room floor, surrounded by a mess of crayons and coloring books. His small, bright green eyes lit up as soon as he saw James, a smile spreading across his face. “Daddy!”
“Hey, love,” James murmured, his voice wavering. He dropped to his knees and scooped Hari into his arms, holding him a little too tightly, needing the comfort of his son’s warmth. “Daddy’s here.”
Hari squirmed, giggling, oblivious to the turmoil brewing beneath his father’s calm facade. For James, it was a fleeting moment of peace—a reminder of why he’d left Sam that night. He had to keep Hari safe. He had to keep himself safe.He grabbed his phone and opened up his group chat with Sirius and Remus.

Padfoot❤️: Guys, we need to rename this chat. How about “Padfoot and His Fabulous Friends”?
Moony 🌑: We’ve been over this, Pads. No.
Prongs 🦌: Can I crash at your place tonight?
Padfoot❤️: Of course! But... what’s going on, Prongs?
Padfoot❤️: Are you okay??
Moony 🌑: You and Hari alright?
Prongs 🦌: Yeah, we’re okay. Just... need a place to stay for a bit. I’ll explain everything when we get there.
Padfoot❤️: Absolutely. You don’t even have to ask. Come over, we’re here.
Moony 🌑: We’ll have everything ready for you two. Drive safe
James started to pack all his and Hari’s essentials in a bag while keeping a close eye on the clock .He had few regrets but meeting Sam wouldn’t be one of then since he had Hari as an outcome and Hari would never be a regret .What he did regret was not leaving sooner ,not leaving the first time Sam raised a hand or cheated.
He looked to where Hari and asked “Hari Jaan what do you think of going to visit Uncle Pads and Moony.” the words barely left his mouth when he was attacked with hug and so many pleases and can we go .”I’ll take that as a yes” James chuckled.
