Chapter 7
James woke up to Jinx jumping on him. Regulus was still sleeping with his head on James’ chest. James just sat there, one hand running his fingers through Regulus’ hair, his other hand petting Jinx, he stayed like that for some time close to an hour, Jinx started playfully pawing and biting James’ fingers, and he played with Jinx until Regulus woke up. Regulus got out of bed and stretched, then went to the kitchen to make breakfast. James followed his boyfriend out to the kitchen and stood in the doorway admiring Regulus. “James, I know you're there.” Regulus said while stirring a bowl of something, James couldn't tell what Regulus was making, “Whatcha making?” James asked “Blueberry pancakes” “Fun, will you be ok if i run home to shower and get more clothes?” “Yeah, how long do you think you'll be?” “20 minutes give or take” “Ok, bye love” “Bye” James gave Regulus a quick kiss and headed home. After James left Regulus kept working on the pancakes. James got home, showered, and packed a bag to take back to Regulus’, he grabbed a couple of extra shirts for Regulus and headed back to his boyfriends, in total it took him 22 minutes to do all of that. James knocked on the door even though he knew it was unlocked, Regulus let him in and went back to the kitchen to finish breakfast. He finished breakfast and sat down at the table with James to eat when they were done he and James cleaned the kitchen because Regulus can’t stand a dirty kitchen. “Reggie, Pads, and Moony want to know if they can come over, what should I tell them?” “Tell them they can come over, but can you ask them to pick up a pack of cigarettes on the way here?” “yeah, I’ll text them, what pack do you usually get so I can let them know?” “Sirius will know which ones to get.” “ok”, James texted Sirius, when he looked up from his phone Regulus wasn’t standing in the kitchen, so James went to look for Regulus. Regulus was in the library and Barty was calling him, Regulus answered “What’s going on Barty, Sirius and Remus will be over soon, and James is here, so make it quick.” “Evan and I got the jobs, we start next week, we were wondering if we could come over and practice a little bit on you before we start. If it's ok with you, we’ll even let you do some on us.” “Sure, I'll let you know when you can come over, James will be here though.” “How long will he be there for?” “Until I tell him to leave, I’m not sure Barty, I quite enjoy having him around.” “Okay, he just gives us another body to practice on.” “I have to go, Sirius, and Remus will be here in a few, I’ll let you know when you can come over.” “Bye Reg-” Regulus hung up before Barty could finish what he was saying. Regulus walked out of the library and went to his room so he could change into some more comfortable clothes, he looked in his mirror for the first time since his surgery, he smiled, he was so happy to see that this was real and just some dream, it was real, and he could see it, he could feel it, he was euphoric. “Hey Reggie, Pads and Moony will be here in about 5 minu-” he was cut off when he opened the door and saw his boyfriend standing in front of the mirror and smiling at his reflection, he didn’t think he’s ever seen Regulus smile like this, not even with Evan and Barty, “Love, you look so good, do you like it?” Regulus nodded then went to his dresser to grab a pair of sweatpants, and a black short sleeve button up. Regulus got changed and went to the living room, James followed him out, and sat down next to him. A couple minutes later there was a knock on the door, “It’s open!” James yelled, Sirius and Remus came in, Remus had a couple new bandages and had crutches instead of his cane, Sirius had a grocery bag and a little gift bag. “Here Regulus, we got you a little something and here are the cigarettes.” “Thanks Sirius.” Regulus opened the gift bag, it was a Slytherin green sweater, a pack of silver rings (not real silver because Sirius didn’t want to hurt Moony), and an ashtray in the shape of a lion. “Thanks, Sirius, you didn’t have to” he paused and turned to Remus “And thank you for the sweater, I assume that was your doing?” Remus gave a nod. “Hey, Reg, can we talk for a moment?” “Sure” Regulus went to the library, Sirius following suit. “What was up with you the other day, you weren’t here, James said we needed to leave, and Barty texted asking what i did to you, said you had been ghosting everyone, what's going on?” Sirius was worried about his brother “Sirius, I’m autistic.” Regulus deadpanned, “It was just burnout, I let it get worse than usual, I'm fine.” “Are you sure Reg, Barty said you hadn’t even answered Pandora. I don’t want anything to happen to you” “Sirius, I’m fine, I Panda and I talked a while ago, and Barty called me right before you and Remus got here.” “Ok, just know, you can always talk to me, and you have Prongs, and Pandora as well” “Je sais, mais nous devrions probablement retourner au salon” “Oui, lets go Reg” Sirius and Regulus went back to the living room. Remus and James were in the living room, James in a chair, Remus on the couch, Sirius plopped down on the couch right next to Remus, while Regulus sat on the floor in front of James’ chair, head resting on his boyfriends knee. Regulus sat up, and started working on his lego set. “Whatcha building?” Sirius asked, “A library” “Cool, do you do these a lot?” “Yeah, usually if I can’t sleep I sit out here either working on this or on the phone with Pandora.” “You never slept well when we were kids” “Insomnia” Regulus had done a sleep study to see if there was anything he could do about, he tried different types of meds but they either didn’t work or had a bad effect, he tried a sleeping drought but he didn’t want to become dependant on it so he only takes it if he has something important going on the next day. “We should turn on some music or something” Sirius always has music in the background of everything, at work, at the studio, in the car, in the shower, even when he’s sleeping, the only time he doesn’t have music going is when he’s on his bike. “Sure, it’s gonna be my playlist though.” Regulus didn’t want to listen to Queen “Ok” Sirius didn’t care what was playing, he just needed something playing. Regulus turned on a speaker and paired his phone, he turned on his favorite playlist and continued working on his library. Sirius grabbed a sketch book out of their purse, pulled up a picture on his phone and started working on a sketch. James grabbed his laptop and started working on a spreadsheet for work. Remus was braiding Sirius’ hair. They stayed like that until Sirius and Remus had to leave. After they left James went to the kitchen to get both of them some pancakes, they both forgot they were in the kitchen. It started to rain, Regulus loved the rain, he loved the sound it made, the way it hit the windows, the puddles, and the sounds it made, he especially loved the thunder. James also loved the rain, he loved it because he had an excuse to stay inside and bake, and dance in the kitchen all day. James came out of the kitchen two plates in hand, he handed one to Regulus, and sat back down. Regulus graciously took the plate and set it on his knee. They both just sat there for a minute. James was admiring his boyfriend, Regulus was admiring the fact that there were no more extra people for a little while, or until he told Barty he and Evan could come over. “Jamie?” “Yeah, love?” “Can you grab my blanket behind you?” “Yeah, ofcourse” James grabbed the blanket and handed it to Regulus, who wrapped himself up in it as soon as it was handed to him. “Cold?” James chuckled “Yeah, it’s fucking cold in here!” “C’mere” James said as he was getting up to go to the couch, Regulus did follow James and as soon as he sat down, Regulus curled into his side, James put and arm over him and let him snuggle into his side while they ate their pancakes. James turned on spiderman, and snuggled with Regulus for a while. They ended up watching 2 spiderman movies, before Regulus fell asleep. He woke up and James was on the phone with someone ‘who is it’ he mouthed “Oh, it’s Lily” James hung up and explained to Regulus what was going on “Pandora said you hadn’t answered your phone so Lily called me to make sure you were ok, I let her know you were asleep and would call her back when you woke up, she said that was fine, and then was telling me about their new puppy, they want us to go meet is sometime, if your up to it” Regulus smiled “I’d be up to it, just not today, B and Ev want to come over and practice a little bit before they start their new jobs, they are gonna work at the new tattoo shop a couple blocks away, Barty specializes in piercings and Evan specializes in tattoos, that's where i got all of my stuff that I used on you, they said we can do stuff on them to, if you want, you don’t have to, but I am” “Sure, let me know when they’ll be here, I don’t mind being a subject” “Ok, it’ll probably be an hour or two before they get here” “Alright”. Regulus curled back into his boyfriends side, Head resting on his chest, he fell back asleep for a little over an hour, when he woke up he texted Barty to let him know they could come over now. “Reggie, let us in!” “Hold on!” Regulus got up and let Barty and Evan in. Evan and Bart got right to work, Barty gave Regulus snake bites. Evan gave James a couple small tattoos, a pair of antlers on his wrist, and R.A.B on his bicep. Regulus also got a couple tattoos, J.F.P on his inner arm, and the leo constellation on his shoulder blade.
