Chapter One- Helping the younger years.
Harry Potter was in a foul mood, and his right hand was sore. It was only the 8th of September but he'd already had detention with Dolores Umbridge, the new DADA professor, who absolutely hated his guts five days in a row for disagreeing that Cedric Diggory's death was a "tragic accident". And her detentions were pure torture, literally as he'd had to write 'I must not tell lies' with a quill that engraved the harrowing words into his skin.
It was after curfew and he was making his way back to the Gryffindor tower from his last detention, when he heard crying, a girl begging "please don't!" as well as cruel cackling, coming from around the corner. Curious at what was going on and worried for the girl he went around the corner and became faced with three Gryffindor boys picking on a young Slytherin girl. They had a bag that obviously wasn't theirs and was throwing around a couple of books. Harry was disgusted that people from his house could be so cruel, so he made his presence aware by angrily exclaiming "what in Merlin's name do you think you are doing. Give the young girl her belongings back immediately." The boys quickly turned at the sound of his voice and trembled at the sight of an incredibly pissed off boy who lived, one boy feeling brave declared "but she's a filthy Slytherin. She's gonna be a death eater" not realising that he'd just made Harry even angrier.
Harry gently helping the young Slytherin to her feet and asked "are you alright?" to which she nodded. Satisfied with her answer he turned to the boys and demanded "What gives you the right to treat her like this. She's younger than you all." One of the boys sneered before replying "she's Daisy Flint, she's nothing but I filthy Slytherin, plus your friend Ron gave us permission to be horrible to all Slytherins." Harry was furious and sent a Patronus to professor McGonagall telling her what had happened. Within minutes the professor arrived and took the boys away leaving him with Daisy. She looked a little scared and asked "you aren't going to hurt me right?" to which he replied "of course not I'll tell you a secret I was nearly put in Slytherin my self. Let's get you to your house. My names Harry by the way." Harry then lead Daisy to the dungeon where the Slytherin common room and dorms were. He was surprised to receive a thank you and hug from Daisy before she went into the common room. Harry then walked to Gryffindor tower with a grin on his face and went to bed unaware that three people had seen everything. Those people being the Slytherin head of house professor Severus Snape and two of his fifth year Slytherin students Draco Malfoy and Pansy Parkinson. Each of the three had seen something that none of them had expected from the young boy who lived. Care for people who weren't Gryffindors and it had given them more respect for him.
