“So, you’re following me?” Rose Granger Weasley said as Scorpius took the spot across from her at the long Ravenclaw table.

“Suppose so.” Scorpius said casually.

Just then, Panju was taking his seat on the stool. The hat waited barely a second before calling out; “RAVENCLAW!”

Scorpius whooped, grinning at his new friend as he sat down. A few more names were called before the food appeared on the table. Scorpius’s eyebrows lifted as he looked at the feast before them—even coming from wealth, he wasn’t used to this many choices. He looked up to see Rose wearing the same expression, maybe even more surprised than him.

After dinner, the Ravenclaw prefects led the new students to Ravenclaw tower. Scorpius looked around with awe at the walls—he’d never seen this many portraits in once place. Some of them waved at him, others raised eyebrows.

They reached the entrance to the tower after several flights of winding stairs. Several of the new first year Ravenclaws in their group began to pant—even Scorpius, who enjoyed exercise, felt his legs begin to cramp. They reached what must’ve been the entrance—a thin, tall door that appeared out of the wall at the whisper of the answer to a riddle, and the prefects held the door open for him as he entered.

He gasped, as did Rose, Panju, and pretty much everyone in their group. The Ravenclaw common room was large and wide, with a high, domed ceiling. It was lined with large, floor to ceiling windows seemingly carved with long windows that pointed as they reached the high ceiling. A large, round, sapphire blue rug covered the stone floor. There were chairs and a fireplace that burned blue. The walls were lined with bookshelves—so many bookshelves. There were telescopes by the windows and tables covered in papers, and instruments dotted around the room.

Perhaps the most eye catching part of the room was the statue—large and carved from stone—of a woman holding a wand, her robes flowing about her. She must’ve been Rowena Ravenclaw.

The dorm rooms were just as impressive, with the same high ceilings and just as high windows. The beds were four poster and pushed against the walls, next to windows. The middle of the room had a stove already burning with blue fire, a blue carpet covering the floor that matched the one in the common room.

On each of the beds lay ties and scarves, blue and grey striped. Scorpius and the other boys found their trunks at their beds, Scorpius finding his trusty Barred Owl waiting to be let out of his cage.

While the other boys got ready for bed, Scorpius pulled a roll of parchment from his bag and a quill, and addressed a letter to his mother.

Dear Mum, I hope you’re feeling better. I just got back from my first dinner here. The food is amazing. I know you’re wondering where I was sorted, so I’ll just get to it—I’m not a Slytherin. I’m a Ravenclaw. Don’t tell dad.

I met Harry Potter’s son earlier, and a boy named Panju Patil. Did you know anyone named Patil when you went here?

Classes start tomorrow. I’m excited to see the library.

Love, Scorpius

He paused. Was that enough? He gave his owl a treat before attaching the letter to his leg and sending it on its way. He crept through the dorm—the other boys had gone to bed—and washed his face in the bathroom before changing into his pajamas and crawling into his new bed for the first time. The moon shone on his face just before he pulled the curtain closed—silver, on a dark blue sky.
