Bad beginning
Her eyes fluttered open with a slow groan from the pain in her head. She would have to take an Advil for that. Slowly, she rose from her lying position, stretching her arms slightly. She opened her eyes and- Where was she… This… This wasn’t her room. She wasn’t at home. This room was in the style of an insane asylum's rooms and had small, dim ceiling lights with small white beds and metal frames. This was nothing like her room. She looked around frantically and saw nine other people. “W-where am I!?” She shouted at them, demanding an answer. “Calm down. You're at the academy.” A shorter woman with bright red hair spoke out. “I’m Scarlet. That's Summer, Olie, Celest, Arias, Amethyst, Leo, Chloe, and Aaron.” She spoke while pointing to the others in the room. “Wh-Why am I here!? I-is it money you people want!? Be-because my parents will pay any amount!”
“HAH! You think your parents want you back?” Scarlet cackled in laughter, seemingly making fun of her. “O-of course!” She spat out quickly. “Th-they love me! My sister is probably devastated…!” She almost lost her thought thinking of her sister…. poor Lily.. She’s probably crying for me right now…
“We ain’t the ones who want something from you.” Scarlet snapped her back to reality. “And I hate to break it to you, but your parents don’t want you anymore, princess. They sold you to this place. THIS is your new home.” What…. Th-That can’t be… N-No… Just yesterday, I was laughing with all of them about the most random things…They loved me… Didn’t they…? She started crying as she looked down at the hands once used to braid her mother's hair while singing songs for her father and sister in the yard as they danced. H-How could they do this…? Scarlet rolled her eyes, and Summer slapped her on the back of the head. “Scarlet! What the hell!? Go talk to her, and this time, comfort her! I know you never had to go through this like the rest of us, but you can’t be such a bitch!”
Scarlet rolled her eyes and walked over to the crying girl, extending her hand. “They don’t love you anymore, but that doesn’t mean you won’t have people that love you in the future. Now, get on your feet and introduce yourself. They can’t love you now, so we will.” She took Scarlet's hand and stood up. “I-I’m Athena.” She held her head high as she said her name. “Welcome home, Athena.” She knew she would never get over her parents, and she knew she may never understand why they did this, but understand one thing. If she wanted a family, it would have to be here that she found it. And she was sure that this was only one of the many surprises that she would face from now on.
