You're Doing This For Me?
Catnap and Dogday ran after Bobby, who was quickly going outside of Home Sweet Home, closing the door behind her. When the two opened the door and peered outside, they were surprised to the rest of the Smiling Critters, holding tube poppers, and clapping for them.
"We give congratulations to the new couple!!!" All of them cheered. At the same time, multiple poppers went off, spreading glittering confetti everywhere. Then the entirety of the Smiling Critters, including Poppy and Kissy, where there clapping and congratulating the new couple. The most excited of which appeared to be Bobby.
"Kyaaah!!!!! I'm so happy for you two!!!!" She said as she ran up to the two of them, grabbing both of their hands and jumping up and down. Catnap and Dogday looked at each other in the midst of all the happiness, sharing an expression. They were truly blessed to have good friends like they do. Once all of the celebration was over and done with, Catnap and Dogday went over to where Poppy and Kissy were standing.
"So yes, congratulations to you two. We just found out about this from one of your friends there, and I assume you already know who they are. But anyway, It's a really hopeful thing to find love in a place like this, even when things look pretty gloomy." Poppy said as Catnap and Dogday look at each other, both of them looking downwards before taking and holding each other's hand. Also, thankful that Bobby didn't go into sharing details of what happened to Poppy, though with what she's saying to the rest of the Smiling Critters, and how embarrassed they're reacting, she's definitely sharing more details with them.
"Anyway, back to business. Catnap, you said that you talked to the Prototype? What did he say? Your friends here didn't explain much, they just said that I get the explanation straight from you." Poppy said, everyone's expression getting serious. Catnap then proceeded to explain what happened in the past day. Retelling the events of right when he woke up, to when he got back to Playcare after recruiting Huggy Wuggy and a bunch of mini-critters. Of course, leaving out the detail of Catnap having a dream about Dogday, and them having intercourse with each other.
"See that's very interesting. If he was so obsessed with trying to kill me or you all, he would just kill you himself, he is by no means weak." Poppy said to the both of them. Catnap nodded, feeling the weight of the information pressing down on him.
"That's what I thought too. The Prototype had every chance to get rid of me, yet he didn't. Instead, he let me go with that message. He wants something more than just destruction." Catnap added. But what would be the point of warning your enemy, hell, worse than that someone who was going to betray you, to give them time to prepare for your next attack? The three were deep in thought before Dogday chirped up with a realization. Tightening his grip on Catnap's hand, his ears twitching.
"What if he was nudging you towards getting together with the other toy settlement deeper in the facility that you mentioned?" Dogday said as he pointed towards Poppy as she crossed her arms, deep in thought.
"Well that does make a bit of sense, A little bit ago, when we all visited Mommy Long Legs, some of the scouts said that the Prototype and other toys that were loyal to him had found Safe Haven. If the Prototype was insinuating that Playcare and Safe Haven join up, then the things and little details do line up a small bit." Poppy said. After her quick monologue, she looked back towards Catnap and Dogday with a look of determination.
"Okay, we can take you guys to see Doey and safe Haven." Poppy exclaimed. Catnap and Dogday exchanged a glance. There is a likely chance that going to Safe Haven is part of the Prototype's plan, and could very well be a trap. But at this current point, there was nothing else to do except trust Poppy that Doey would be a good addition to their allies.
"Okay, we agree to making the trip with you two to Safe Haven." Dogday said as Catnap nodded along. Once the other Smiling Critters were told of their departure, they bid the four farewell before they went down the large utility lift. The journey there was actually pretty straight forward. Just head down the lift and a couple of elevator shafts, that were still working, and down a couple of long corridors, and eventually they arrived at a massive reinforced door in a about a little over an hour. Poppy then gestured to Kissy who quickly banged on the door with her fist, creating a few dull thuds.
"Doey! It's me and Kissy! We brought some visitors from Playcare!" Poppy exclaimed. Then the door started to quickly open. They were surprised to see two large hands, coloured in a blue and green mix, open the door. Then revealing the owner of those hands, a large mixture of clay that's molded to look like something humanoid with a small dark blue bowler hat on the top of the head. Indents on the face act as eyes and mouth. Catnap and Dogday immediately recognised the creature, being a popular toy called Doey the Doughman. Albeit a larger version, comparable to Catnap's and Huggy's size. Doey squinted his eyes for a moment before a look of joyful astonishment grows on his face after seeing Catnap and Dogday.
"Well I'll be! If it isn't Catnap the betrayer! I'm glad to see you still kicking around!" Doey said as he went to tip his hat before extending and stretching his arm outwards, which Catnap takes in a small handshake.
"And the leader of the Smiling Critters too? How'd you get two big celebrities on my doorstep, Poppy?" Doey jokingly asked as he extended and stretched his other arm towards Dogday, which he excitedly shakes, happy to find another cheerful toy.
"Yes, thank you for having us Mr. Doughman!" Dogday excitedly said. Just then, a large bunch of mini-critters standing on two legs walk up to the commotion that's happening at the front door, getting Catnap to get a closer look at the interior. There were a few makeshift tents around, with multiple wood and metal scraps lying around, it would seem that the place was still under construction.
"Oh it's just Doey to everyone. Anyway, we heard from a bunch of other toys that you were thinking of building up a large army to go against the Prototype, and my question is, are you gonna ask us?" Doey said. Catnap and Dogday exchanged a glance before nodding to each other.
"Yes. Well, we were hoping that we could explain more of the details too." Poppy said just as Doey welcomed them inside. Once they also got a welcoming party from a cacophony of voices coming from the mini-critters, they went straight to business. How they already got some people on their side, how the Prototype already knows their plan, and the fact that the Prototype gave them ample time to prepare for something.
"Yes, that definitely sounds like an odd thing to do. Well, you have us in Safe Haven to count on as fellow allies, we just want to ask you one thing." Doey said as Catnap and Dogday nodded.
"The Doctor, Dr. Harley Sawyer. He's still alive and deeper im the facility. If we take him down, then the real root of all the depravity and experimenta of Playtime Co. would be gone, and the Prototype would be all alone." Doey said. The mentions of Dr. Sawyer had gotten a look of anxiousness between Catnap and Dogday.
"Of course. Whatever it takes to get all of the evil out of this place." Dogday said, tightening his grip on Catnap's hand.
"Good. Now, one more question." Doey said as he adjusted himself in his seat, with Catnap and Dogday straightening their backs.
"Why are you even fighting against the Prototype? Sure, we all know that he's evil, but do you have any specific reasons why?" Doey asked. Catnap and Dogday were slightly taken aback by the question but Dogday smiled and went to answer earnestly.
"Well, it's simple. I want all of it to stop, so that no one could get hurt by the Prototype and Playtime Co. ever again. It's a noble cause that's worth fighting for. It's for the greater good." Dogday said in his rousing speech voice, getting a satisfactory nod and smile from Doey. Doey then turned to Catnap, awaiting his answer.
"If I want to be honest, I'm doing it for Dogday." Catnap said as he cradled Dogdays' hand in both of his hands. Dogday was taken aback by his answer as his tail started to thump against the floor behind him and his face turned a bit red.
"He's the whole reason I feel like fighting. He's my first friend. He's my one true friend. He loves me and I love him. Is that enough of a reason?" Catnap said before awkwardly looking away from everyone. Doey let out a hearty laugh as he cradled his large belly with his hands to prevent it from shaking too much.
"Of course! Love is more than enough of a reason to fight for something! Now I know that you all have hearts of gold and passion towards the good things." Doey said. Catnap and Dogday looked at each other before going in a tight embrace, hearing multiple mini-critters squeal excitedly and do a collective "Awww".
"Dogday. No matter what happens, and whatever may come our way, we do it together." Catnap said to Dogday before sharing a quick but tender kiss. Dogday was feeling like passing out from how different and openly affectionate Catnap was being, but he was the opposite of opposed to it, he openly welcomed this loving and sweet Catnap. Since this was the Catnap that he fell in love with, when he met him and he opened up to Dogday.
