Creating Allies While Destroying Friendships
It all took exactly one hour. Employee after employee. Child after Child. Kill after kill. More and more drops of blood get spilt, and Catnap slowly enjoys it more and more. Why? Maybe it's some catharsis from his past life as a human. Ostracized and left out just because he preferred solace and isolation. It doesn't help with the fact that Catnap knew that some of the employees were insulting him behind his back, so he has enough of an incentive. Hell, even the children here didn't like him much, they always thought he looked scary. Which to be fair, he does. So Catnap can't blame the children on that, but all it does is give him more fuel to keep killing and killing. Catnap was keeping track this whole time while Miss Delight and her nine sisters were participating in the Hour of Joy, and Catnap counted more than what she and her little clones had. So that was fun. Once it was all said and done, the entire field was caked in blood and littered with bodies. The adrenaline high was now coming to a close as Catnap just felt the weight come down on what he has done. Yet he feels nothing.
"Good God." Catnap said out loud as he looked at his bloodstained body. His usual purple fur and soothing lavender scent is now replaced with a deep, dark red, and a strong smell of iron which hits you at the back of your throat. Catnap looks to his left and sees a broken window of the school building, and sees his reflection on the glass. He looks like a monster. Catnap takes a deep breath before moving onwards to find any survivors, after all, someone might snitch and say that Catnap wasn't doing his best. Speaking of someone, he should have a talk with Miss Delight and her many siblings. Entering the school, he sees a large amount of perfectly identical blondes enter a room. Must be the Delight sisters. Following after them, he can see a man getting torn apart by the robot teachers. Trying to spot the difference between them and find the "original" one is a losing battle, so once they were done with killing the person, Catnap raises his voice.
"Hey, all of you! Where's the original Miss Delight?" Catnap shouted to the ten identical automatons that quickly turn their head towards Catnap. One of the robots covered in blood comes forward with her hands cupped together.
"Well hello there, Catnap. What brings you here?" An unnaturally cheery voice comes out of the mouth of the Miss Delight that comes towards Catnap. She always had an odd feeling around her. Just unnatural.
"I need to talk with you, in private." Catnap said to Miss Delight, who excused herself from her sisters and made Catnap follow her into a different classroom.
"So, what is it you wanted to speak to me about?" Miss Delight asked Catnap.
"Well it's simple. I want your help in taking down the Prototype." Catnap said while Miss Delight held an expression of surprise and gasped.
"Why, Catnap! That's quite the blasphemy! You just asked the Prototype for a reward, and now you want to eliminate him? That will not be an easy task." Miss Delight said. Catnap was surprised by this answer. Not the being surprised part, but the fact that she didn't immediately want to snitch on Catnap gives him hope on the other participants of the Hour of Joy.
"And that's exactly why I need as much help as I can get. He's a goddamn lunatic, and he needs to be stopped. He hurts us and makes us feel unbelievable amounts of pain if we don't follow orders. He does this for a "noble cause" but if he was actually that noble, then he would've found a way to make the people and the experiments get free without killing so many innocent lives!" Catnap said to Miss Delight who had an amused look to her face.
"Nice speech. You didn't really need to do that, the pain gives me more than enough incentive to go ahead and switch sides whenever I want." Miss Delight said. That's even more surprising. The fact that Miss Delight was onboard from the start makes Catnap question why he didn't ask her in the first place. Although it does feel a bit suspicious that she immediately went with Catnap.
"Really now? How do I know I can trust you?" Catnap said.
"You can't. Like the rest of us, we're probably doing this so that we don't get hurt, and some others might need a bit more convincing. But we are more than willing to go against that prick if we have others who want to stand with us." Miss Delight said. Hmm, this may be much easier than Catnap thought. After that, the two said their goodbyes and Catnap walked over to the clinic to find some kind of painkillers. Going inside, it was spotless. For some reason, no one thought to hide in here. Catnap walked around until he saw a large cabinet that was filled to the brim with carfentanil and morphine vials. Catnap's eyes grew at the drug usually used in sedating large animals. They used this in tranquilizer guns that employees would use for unruly experiments.
"Jackpot." Catnap said out loud as he opened the cabinet and grabbed a few vials of both with his tail. Morphine would definitely work if he takes enough of it, but the carfentanil would probably knock him out or even kill him if he takes too much. Catnap also found a larger than normal needle to stab himself with, along with a tourniquet that was large enough to fit his arm, and he also grabbed a green canvas satchel to store all this stuff with and he slung it over his shoulder. Catnap's next step was to look at some security camera footage to find where other participants of the Hour of Joy may reside, but before that, Catnap remembered Dogday and his friends. What would they think of him now? Catnap quickly and quietly walked over to Home Sweet Home where it lied untouched, and knocked on the door.
"Dogday? Are you and everyone else still in there?" Catnap asked loudly as he heard some shuffling behind the door.
"Catnap? Is that really you?" Dogday said through the door, his voice slightly muffled. Catnap breathed a sigh of relief that no other participants had found the Smiling Critters.
"Yes, it's me. Thank God you're all safe."
"And yes, we're all here, and we're all safe and unharmed. What the heck happened out there? We heard so much screaming!" Dogday added, his voice sounding a bit more worried and anxious.
"I... I killed so many people." Catnap said, sounding defeated. He then heard a few gasps and whispers behind the door that he couldn't quite hear that was stopped by Dogday shushing them all.
"I- Is that...true, Catnap? Did you cause all of that screaming?" Dogday asked in a low voice. Catnap looked back to the carnage to see quite a lot of mini-critters and mini-wuggies grab a bunch of bodies and carry them all away. What would they be doing with that? There's probably enough food to go aroun- Wait. They're not considering eating the bodies, are they?
"Catnap? Are you still there?" Before Catnap could think some more, he was interrupted by Dogday who hadn't gotten an answer yet.
"Yes. Sorry. And....... Yes, I killed everyone in sight." Catnap said as he heard some muffled shouting from behind the door, quickly getting shushed again.
"How could you do this, Catnap? You killed humans, and even children! Why?!" Dogday was basically shouting at Catnap, who was sat down and leaning his head against the door.
"Im sorry, Dogday, and to the rest of you guys . I had no choice. It would've hurt so much." Catnap said with a light tremble in his voice.
"What!? Who hurt you!?" Dogday shouted with more insistence in his voice.
"The Prototype." Catnap said as he closed his eyes, causing the other side of the door to become silent. Catnap also turned silent. If they didn't know who the Prototype was, then they would be asking right now. They already knew who he was.
"You..... You listened to him?" Dogday asked with a slight tremble in his voice.
"You already knew who he was?" Catnap asked Dogday.
"Yes! We thought that he was an insane lunatic, and that we shouldn't listen to him. How were you unable to resist?" Dogday said to Catnap. There was no way what Catnap was hearing was real. They didn't speak to him about this? He could've told them his plan!
"Why didn't you tell me?" Catnap ignored Dogdays' question again to ask his own, again.
"You never brought it up, so I had a talk with everyone else, and they thought that you were just fine or you didn't want us to think that you were crazy. But why did you listen to him and do as he says?!" Dogday said as Catnap felt a heavy sense of guilt in the put of his stomach. But he had to tell them about his plan, even if they might not trust him after what he did.
"I...... Listen, I have a plan. I follow along with the Prototype's orders, while I gather allies who could help in taking down the Prototype. I already got the help of Miss Delight and her sisters, and you guys could help me out too." Catnap said with a hint of desperation in his voice. He heard some muttering behind the door for a few moments before the muttering turned into hushed shouting. Then it to full on shouting.
"I know Catnap can't be trusted right now, but what else can we do?! We'd probably die if it weren't for him!" Catnap heard Bobby shout.
"Oh please! Like you weren't also shit scared when Catnap first showed up!" Catnap heard Kickin shout back as Hoppy agreed with him with a loud "Yeah!".
"And what about you, Dogday? You're the one who's getting awfully close with Catnap, so much so that he even warned you before all of this could happen!" Picky's voice could be heard while Crafty tried to calm her down, her meek and quiet voice was almost unrecognisable in the shouting. Catnap was thinking that he should interrupt them all before Dogday stopped the shouting contest.
"All of you! Stow it! Now!" Dogday commanded, making all of the Smiling Critters shut up. Even Catnap felt a bit intimidated by the voice.
"Catnap. We're gonna help you on one condition." Dogday said, which made Catnap nervous.
"You're not our friend anymore, and you're not a Smiling Critter too. You got that?" Dogday said sternly as Catnap drooped his head and felt some tears start to from in his eyes. He can't be friends with Dogday? But he's the whole reason why Catnap wants to go against the Prototype in the first place. To free Dogday and his friends from this prison. Sure he was doing quite the evil thing for it but he wouldn't have a chance if it was just the Smiling Critters. Catnap just wanted to see Dogdays' face under the real sun, and see how happy it would make him. Catnap took a deep and shaky breath as he prepared himself for answering the question.
"Okay. If that's what it's gonna take, then it's for the best." Catnap said as he grabbed hold of his moon amulet and snapped off the cord that was around his neck and dropped the shiny plastic on the ground beside him.
"I'll leave you all alone now. If you guys want to talk about my plan then I'll be around. Easy to find." Catnap said before wiping away some tears and swiftly walking away. He could've gone to the security system now, but he doesn't feel in the mood for that right now. Dogday heard Catnap run away and looked back to his friends who had a mixed face of concern and guilt. Dogday carefully opened the door and saw Catnap's amulet on the ground, Catnap nowhere in sight. Dogday leaned over and grabbed Catnap's amulet, staring at the medallion while it was in the palm of his hands, as the cord fell between his fingers. Dogday turned around and looked to his group who held a face of shock.
"I didn't think he would say it like that. I thought he would've said something... mean, or.... hell, maybe would've begged yo stay friends but..... he agreed." Dogday felt conflicted feelings as Catnap went back to his cell. He was hoping that be could've at least felt some comfort with Dogday. I mean, he thought that this outcome was plausible, and Dogday obviously wouldn't immediately forgive him, but it felt way worse than it should've, and Catnap doesn't want to feel anything now. He doesn't feel like he wants to look at the security feed, he just wants to feel nothing. Catnap sits down in his cell as he took out the needle, tourniquet, and a vial of carfentanil. These thoughts and feelings were thought of and felt before, Catnap always wondered whether drugs would help with that, and now it was time to see if it was true.
"You're a fucking monster, Catnap. You never deserved a friend like Dogday, or Kickin, or Crafty, or Picky, or fucking anyone!" Catnap shouted to himself as he tightened the tourniquet around his arm and filled the syringe with the vial until it was full. Then he forcefully jabbed the syringe into his arm and injected himself with a fuck ton of carfentanil. Catnap undid the tourniquet as he immediately felt drowsy, laughing a bit from the world spinning around him until he eventually passed out......

......
Theodore was bent over the table as he winced with every hit from the paddle that was hitting him in the behind.
"This is what you deserve, Theodore! You hurt your fellow children, and now you must take your lumps!" The old bastard of a priest said as each hit felt stronger and stronger as Theodore was on the verge of tears.
"This is why you'll never get adopted! You're too violent! You must repent!" Catnap's tears flowed down his face as his behind started to feel numb from the pain. Eventually, the priest was done and he let Theodore leave his office, limping. Theodore saw the perpetrators who got him his punishment, two brats who were black and blue all over and with tissues up their noses. The two younger boys glared at Theodore, and Theodore glared back as he limped his way to the nurses office.
"That's what you deserve, freak!" Theodore heard from some other orphans who were staring dagger at him. Theodore glared back and scowled as he clenched his fists, making the other orphans show their middle fingers at him. Catnap looked to a couple nuns who passed by, gesturing to the orphans, but they scowled at him and turned their heads away from him.
"God doesn't love you, Theodore!" Some other students shouted at him. A couple of priests were standing behind them and were also glaring at Theodore, shaking their heads. So much anger fills inside Theodo- Catnap as he grins wildly. He feels his body twist, crack, and turn, as he now walks on four legs and feels so much more powerful as he towers over the orphans.
"I was picturing you all when I was killing for my master!" Catnap shouted out as he growled, terrifying all of the orphans, nuns, and priests and making them all run away. Catnap ran after them. The hallway feeling so much tinier as he ran through in in record time. Slashing at people and chomping down on their heads and bodies with his maw. The Hout of Joy played in his head. Who gives a shit if he's a monster? Being a monster feels fucking powerful! Making the people who hate you with a passion run in fear from you feels like heaven! Before long, he was recreating the Hour of Joy in his old orphanage, and he enjoyed every second of it.
Priests and nuns who never gave a fuck? Slaughtered.
Other orphans who always picked on him while he got punished for fighting back? Used as paint for the halls.
This old bastard of a priest who probably touched over half of these kids and always punished Catnap severely? Strung up on the fucking flagpole for all to see!
Catnap admired his handiwork. The Prototype would be proud! His Master would be proud!!! Praise him!!!!!!
"Catnap." Catnap looked up from his praying to see Dogday strung up on the pole. No. No! He would never hurt Dogday! Not him! Not his sunshine! He looked over Dogday. He was missing his lower half, his insides where unable to spill out due to a belt that was tightly holding together the opening
"Why...." Dogday said with his intestines slowly spilling out from under him as Catnap started to bawl. He tried to scream but he couldn't say anything. He tried and tried but nothing came out, not even a whisper. This is a dream. It has to be. He took drugs. He's overdosing. He's gonna die. These thoughts pulsed around his head before he felt a jolt in his stomach and something rise up from his esophagus as he heard something.
"Catnap?! Please don't be dead!"
