Prologue

21st of October 1931 8:33am

LeClaire manor, Kensington

Celeste didn't know when it was she first realised her father hated her.

Looking back it was probably the minute she began to resemble her mother. It's funny how the human brain works isn't it? How you can despise someone for no better reason than who they share DNA with.

As a 4 year old Celeste walked from her bedroom to her fathers study she found her thoughts wandering to her mother. She was beautiful and kind and even in her childish mind, she couldn't comprehend why someone like her mother would marry a man like her father.

She supposed she must have regretted it considering the fact she has been found hanging from the ceiling no less than a year ago.

Celeste shook off the morbid thoughts before she knocked twice on her fathers door.

"Come in" her father answered and Celeste repressed a shiver at the sound of his cold voice

Celeste opened the wooden door to her fathers study making sure to correct her posture and hold her hands behind her back.

"You summoned me Father?" Summoned was a light way to put it; she was just brushing her hair when her door was abruptly slammed open by one of the many servants that resided in the Leclaire manor and told her father wished to see her immediately.

"You are getting far too tiresome to raise Celeste. Frankly, I cannot deal with you at the moment, especially after what happened to your mother."

She resisted the urge to scoff. She was not tiresome to raise in the slightest! And he had despised her Mother for as long as she could remember, despised her so much she was driven to insanity by repeated use of the cruciatus curse. Driven her so mad her only escape was death.

"What do you mean by that father" she replied, hoping the annoyance she was feeling was undetectable in her voice.

"I'm sending you away is what i mean" her father replied with a blank stare at her

She stared right back at him. She ought to have expected this at some point didn't she? It was either he sent her away or she have the same fate as her mother.

She didn't know where or how the fire started.

All she knew was the rage coursing through her body like deadly poison.

All she knew was that she wanted them all to suffer.

After the muggle police arrived she was hysterically sobbing on the outside and maniacally grinning on the inside.
