The Rise and Fall of Marlene McKinnon
Marlene McKinnon was 15 when she sang her songs to the empty streets of her cold and boring hometown and Marlene McKinnon was 21 when she sang her songs to thousands of people on the big stage, living her dream.
Marlene McKinnon was also 15 when she ran away from home and left everything behind, because she refused to life the live her parents planned for her. Two years alone on the streets gave her plenty of time to think about her decisions.
In the moments when she would feel like freezing to death, she believed that she destroyed her own live.
But now she has everything she ever wanted, right?
But still, something is missing.
Being at the Met Gala feels surreal for Marlene. Being homeless at 16 and famous at 17 is a switch you must get used to. Now she is 21 and still feels out of place.
But she is not the only person here who has been in poor conditions before being discovered.
For example, there is Barty Crouch Jr. who suddenly became a star at just 17 as well. There are many rumours that Crouch has been abusing drugs in the past or some of them say that he still does.
Marlene thinks he is kind of iconic as a person and a damn good rapper and singer. She has never talked to him before, but she is going to.
When you see Barty Crouch, you can be certain that Evan Rosier isn’t far away either. There has most likely never been a Rosier concert without Crouch suddenly crashing the stage.
Marlene chooses to walk up to them and introduce herself.
“Hi y’all I’m Marlene, you are both friends with Dorcas Meadowes, right?”
“Thank the fucking gods, I thought you were one of those journalists and ready to jump us again, but yeah we are.” Crouch answered while cackling slightly.
“No, I’m on the run from them too. And the scariest one of them is Rita Skeeter.”
“50 bucks to whoever can go all night without being interviewed by her.” Rosier throws into the conversation, and they are all in.
No way Marlene is going to lose this challenge.
Marlene is trying to hide herself between the other celebrities. While doing so, she discovers her mates, James and Sirius being all cocky about some stupid shit.
She has known them for quite some time now. They are members of the band called ‘The Marauders’ and their other two members are Remus lupin, the bassist and Peter Pettigrew, the drummer. While Both James and Sirius are mostly singing, you will most likely see Sirius Black with a guitar as well.
“Guys, help me I’m hiding from Skeeter, and I am screwed.” She says stressed out and just stops them from going on with their previous conversation.
James and Sirius both seem confused, and Sirius is the first one to speak his mind: “I mean she is scary sure but why are you hiding she will definitely get you anyway.”
“I’ve got a bet going with Rosier and Crouch. I cannot lose.” Marlene speaks as she’s trying to see the other boys in the crowd.
30 minutes later Marlene lost. Why? Because she got distracted by model and singer-songwriter Dorcas Meadowes.
Dorcas started modelling at a very young age and is on top of the modelling industry ever since then.
When Marlene still lived on the streets she’d see big posters with Dorcas on them. And she has been mesmerized ever since. Seeing Meadowes this close is something she could have never imagined, so it is perfectly normal to get a little bit distracted.
Marlene would lie if she said that none of her songs are about Dorcas Meadowes, but someone must be the muse, right?
The McKinnon girl is confident about her own shows and music, but around some of these celebrities she feels like some kind of joke, and she’d not dare to randomly speak to them.
It’s different with The Marauders or The Valkyries. Both of those bands are just friends she made along her way. Speaking of the Valkyries, her friends Mary and Lily, they are literally two of the most talented people she has ever witnessed.
Mary and Lily are both very sweet and humble. They had their band since high school, but back then it was just some little garage band.
Mary is great with the guitar and has a strong voice and Lily is an amazing pianist and a singer as well.
Her friend of course are amazing people, but Dorcas Meadowes is kind of untouchable, but Marlene really can’t get her out of her mind.
