Chapter 1
The Black Lion
Chapter 1
She knew that she was avoiding all her problems but for once in her life she was okay with that. With a loud sigh Hermione continued to dust the same books she’s been staring at over again. It’s only been a month but for some reason it seems like it has been longer.
A month since the war ended.
A month since she kissed Ron.
A month since she had contact with her so-called best friends.
A month since she has been hiding in Grimmauld place with Sirius and Kreacher.
‘At least Kreacher has become nicer to me. I thought he would never do that,’ she thinks to herself. With another heavy sigh she moves to dust another set of books letting her mind wonder what went wrong in the last month.
“You know hiding here won't fix your problems princess.” says a smooth voice from behind her.
Jumping slightly Hermione turns around and looks at the figure. Giving him a quick once over she quickly turns back around, she didn't want him to see the resignation on her face. “I know Padfoot..” with a short pause she glances over her shoulder shortly to look at him before continuing.
“I just don’t want to face them. All it leads to is an argument. If we keep fighting we won't have a friendship anymore.”
Giving her a glance over, Sirius leans against the door with a small sigh that was barely audible. If he’s being honest he didn’t understand the falling out between the “The Golden Trio”. From what he could understand was that Hermione kissed Ron then decided that she didn’t like him as much as she thought she did. Deciding not to voice his opinion like everyone else has this month he moves inside the room. Hermione might seem like a strong girl but he knows better. Ron and Harry not talking to her since the fall out obviously was affecting her even if she won’t admit it.
“Why don’t we have a drink, while we clean?” His voice was hopeful.
If she wants to hide here she was more than welcome to, he would never kick her out. He summons two glasses and a bottle of firewhiskey, waiting for a response back he pours them both a glass.
Walking over to him she takes the glass with a small smile. “Thanks Siri” she murmurs.
She knew what Sirius was thinking but she couldn’t help but feel she was wrong. If she wasn’t why did everyone take Ron side, even Harry who she saw as her little brother took Ron’s side. Honestly she doesn’t know why she was surprised that Harry took Ron's side.
“He always did, didn’t he?” she thinks to herself. Knowing that she couldn’t hide her true emotions from him she turned around facing the books. Taking a small sip both her hands holding the glass tightly.
Gulping down half his drink Sirius looks at her from the corner of his eye not wanting to be obvious. He could tell just from the far away look on her face that she was wallowing in self pity again. It seems that was one thing they both had in common. Self pity.
Self pity will make you blame yourself for things you can’t control and he knows that feeling all too well. Knowing he couldn’t stop her from blaming herself, all he could do was distract her from the pain and give her some advice.
Coughing slightly to get her attention he starts, “Lion..” he takes a long pause.
“You kissed one of your best friends who you thought you loved. Unfortunately you realized that you didn’t love him like he claims to love you. It’s not your fault that you don’t feel the same as him. However you did tell him the truth like an adult. Now it’s his time to grow up and get over it.” His voice was gruff at the end of his little speech but he hoped it got the point across to her.
Finishing her drink she nods giving him confirmation that she heard his speech. It hurt to hear him say it but deep down she knows she didn’t do anything wrong. With a smile Sirius throws his arm around her shoulder and pulls him closer to her.
“Enough with the book cleaning and self pity. I have something else in this bloody house that we can fix!”
Smiling slightly, Hermione lets him pull her to another room. She might be avoiding her problems but at least she has Sirius on her side helping her not wallow in self pity. At least she isn’t alone.
