Chapter 2

Dorcas’ POV

When she had first met Hailey, she had just gotten done with a workout and was grabbing a cup of coffee at a cafe close by. She was sitting near window, tucked away and aimlessly scroll in when the girl approached her.

She had shoulder length, platinum blonde hair with blue tips, deeply tanned skin, and a septum piercing. She was wearing a navy blue blazer and skirt with impressively glossy heels, and had a notepad tucked under her arm.

Dorcas introduced herself and learned the girl’s name was Hailey, and that she had just recently been hired by a music magazine, and was wondering whether or not she would feel comfortable doing an interview with her sometime. Dorcas had said she would think about it, and Hailey had left a business card in case she changed her mind. Now, standing in front of their headquarters, the building was very beautiful. It was extremely tall (to be expected from a New York building) and was completely made out of glass. The sun made it shimmer, and Dorcas was enamored. She had always been such a huge fan of architecture. “Well, time to get to work.” Barty grins, and drags Evan in with him, and everyone follows closely behind. When they reach the desk, Dorcas strolls up to receptionist. “Hi, I’m Dorcas Meadows. I have an interview with Hailey in 20 minutes.” The receptionist, a middle eastern woman with straight black hair and a Star of David necklace, looks up and says, “Ah, yes. You’ll be on the 78th floor, room 3, you can’t miss it.” She thanks the woman, and they all pile into the platinum elevator. The rug is floral, and the inside is painted mint, which Dorcas thinks is an odd choice, but decides not to comment on it. Clearly, Pandora has different thoughts. “I just love this color. It’s so pretty. I’m pretty sure I have this exact carpet in one of my rooms at home.” “And it is as stunning as ever, Pan,” Evan says, grinning at his twin sister.

Pandora grins, and the group rides it up in silence.

The doors open, revealing a large, open room with tons of windows, styled in a similarly bohemian way. There isn’t much to the room other than some chairs and a young man sitting at a large, pale desk typing away on a computer. They all get off, clustering together like they did back in school.

The man looks up, and he gives a wide smile, revealing a mouth of braces. “Hi, are you here for the interview with Ms. Hailey?” He asks.

“Yes, we are,” Lily replies.

“You’re a little early so please take a seat while I go get her.” With that, he gets up, gives another smile, and scurries off, presumably to find Hailey.

They sit, and Dorcas takes the time to really look at the furniture. The cushions are white, but instead of a regular bottom, all the furniture has a wicker base that gives a beach, summery feeling.

It’s way more comfortable than she thought it would be, but she supposes a company that deals with people all the time would have good furniture.

They sit in silence for a minute before Sirius dramatically exclaims, “We’re finally cool enough and enough to have an interview about ourselves.” He flips his long black curls behind his shoulder, and the group laughs.

“Oh Padfoot, you’re ridiculous,” Peter says. “We’ve always been cool enough. They just didn’t know it yet.”

Dorcas grins. Their little group has always been popular and cool, even back in school. Granted, back then it was because of their infamous pranks instead of their killer music, but still. They’ve always been adored by people.

Suddenly, the man returns, Hailey at his side. Today she’s wearing a sage pantsuit with white heels, and her hair is in a slick back bun. She gives a bright smile and says, “Thank you for your patience. If you’ll come with me, we can go ahead and get started.”

At that, they stand, and follow her to an all white room with enough individual chairs for everyone. They sit together by band, and Hailey explains what’s going to happen.

“This whole interview is going to recorded and posted to our YouTube channel. The camera will be right next to me the whole time. I have cards with questions our fans have sent in. We’ve sorted through anything outright rude, sexual, or inappropriate, but if you’re asked a question that you don’t feel comfortable answering, just let me know and I’ll move on. We want answers, but not at your expense. Any questions?”

Nothing.

“Awesome! Let me press record and we can get started!”

She presses the button, sits down, and begins.

“Ok! Today I’m here with the members of The Mauraduers, the Emerald Snakes, and the Queens of Your Heart. Would y’all like to start with your names?” One by one, they say their names (birth name only, of course. Can’t reveal relationships too early on after all). “Our first question is from Pine_Cone. How did each band meet?”
