Save a drink for me?

This fear that was gnawing at her, piece by piece as every second by with no news.
Yelena sat at the end of the quinjet, tuning her weapons as the news played quietly in the background, the three Avengers in the front did everything they could to find out more about this wanna be kingpin and his apparent thirst for revenge against the Bishop's.

Yelena kept her focus on her weapons, feeling the glances the three adults threw her way every 2 minutes, the heavy gazes did nothing to distract her, not wavering her attention from her weapons or the news.

Kate Bishop had sent confirmation of her being inside the prison to Agent Hill, with an updated floor plan of the whole center giving leverage to the agents preparing for a rescue mission before going dark, her last location being the roof.

Yelena had been rightfully pissed when Hill had informed them of the development, almost breaking her weapons as inevitable thoughts of Kate hurt crossed her mind.

Eternity passed for Yelena before they touched down on the Avengers Compound, the place filled with SHIELD agents and police officers as well as the Avengers present, Kate Bishop wasn't only a vigilante, she was the owner of a multi-billion security company and that held weight, and with the pressure of the Avengers (or Yelena Belova's sunny personality), it was an all out mission.

"We have visual confirmation of Eleanor Bishop being held in the east side," said an agent as the three Avengers walked inside the conference room to the front of it, Yelena lingered in the back, one earphone plugged in listening to the news while also paying attention to the meeting.

"So who is this guy?" Clint asked, sitting at the front of the table with three dossiers open, Eleanor Bishop, the assailant and his protege/friend Kate Bishop.

"Dante Reyes," The image of a middle age man, a gruff look accompanied by a matching scar across his cheekbone flashed on the screen, Yelena's fist tightened as she let the agent continue the presentation, "Cartel leader with warrant out for illegal weapons dealing, terrorism and child trafficking."

Natasha and Yelena found each other's eyes, a silent understanding of hatred that grew between them, they were the victims of child trafficking and with taking down The Red Room, it had been a mission of theirs to put a stop to trafficking of any kind.

Yelena stepped away from the wall she was leaning against, picking up the dossier on Dante Reyes.
Every crime imaginable, he had done.

She felt sick to her stomach thinking about Kate in his way, with a man that big of an ego he'd do anything to take down the person who took down the King himself, using whatever force necessary.

"Plan of attack?" Yelena spoke for the first time since she'd step foot in the room, the agent visible shivered before straightening to answer, "NYPD is trying to negotiate with the assailants inside the prison."

"Negotiate?" Yelena chuckled, her eyes dark and clouded with one goal on her mind, Kate.
"You think a man who took a whole fucking prison hostage to get to one woman is going to negotiate?"

"We're working through our levels of-"

"Fuck your levels!" Yelena's accent got thicker the angrier she got, she had a tough time making sense of the slow progress everybody was having getting Kate to safety.

"I think we'll take over from here," Steve stood up letting the obviously scared agent leave the room before he had to face the wrath of the widow.

"Yelena-" Natasha got up from her seat, knowing very well what her sister was planning.

"I needed her here yesterday," Yelena blew out a breath her eyes stinging with unshed tears, damn a woman for making her so vulnerable.

"And we'll get her, little widow," Tony stood up heading to the presentation screen pulling up the schematics of the place.

Yelena steadied herself with a breath before heading to the front of the room, leaning against the desk and she watched Tony mess around.

"Fisk was never the brain," Tony started, his hands controlling the different slides as he talked, "It was always Dante Reyes, calling the moves, giving the command. Fisk was but a scary front."

"Reyes anticipates us all," Steve continued for Tony, "He knows we're coming, he has contingencies in place."

"So how do we get Kate out?" Yelena asked, getting tired of discussing the idiots responsible for getting Kate in that situation.

"We don't," Steve said reaching for his phone.

Yelena blew out a breath, "I'm not afraid to hit an old man, I swear-"

"Sestra," Natasha stepped forward, stopping her little sister from her angered rambling, "I swear on my life, Kate will be back in one piece."

Yelena found zero comfort in that, sure she knew what Natasha meant but those words had little meaning in their field of work.

"You know I'm a witch right?" Wanda spoke stood with her hands crossed, "I can go in and out without them knowing I was here."

"Little witch," Tony turned to her, "There's technologies now to stop you."

"Not strong enough," Wanda argued and it was true, there hadn't been one piece of technology that proved to be strong enough for the Scarlet Witch.

"We're not risking anymore of our people," Clint spoke, playing with the paper weights on the table, his focus on the slides in front of him, trying to find a loophole to get Kate out.

"And with Banner and the God of Thunder off world," Tony reminded, "You don't have backup."

"Kate doesn't either," Wanda argued, she knew what Kate meant to Yelena, she didn't need to have her powers to feel what Yelena felt for Kate and it was strong, a strong pull the little widow had towards the archer, a pull so taut she'd betrayed her morals to get close to the CEO.

Backup be damned if Wanda didn't at least try.

_______

To say she was an idiot would an understatement.

Should she have waited for backup? Sure, did she? No.

Pressed against the wall of prison cell in the west wing of the prison felt like a different dimension than the short glee she had felt yesterday.

Kate knew Yelena was pissed at her, so was Clint but when she had made the decision she did not take into consideration on how big this could be and big it was.

With mercenaries planted around the whole prison, taking hostages and keeping them bounded execution style to entice SHIELD and the NYPD to hand over Kate Bishop or their enemy.

How can a girl with a bow and arrow be someone's worst enemy? A question she refused to think with logic.

She could hear the faint cries of children they had taken hostage from the visitation wing, she had to calm her nerves before she ran out to surrender to save the kids, she knew she had to think about this rationally before she got everybody killed. She hadn't even seen her mother yet, she didn't how hurt her mother was or if she even alive at this point.

Pushing down those thoughts, Kate took a deep breath, she knew she had to find Reyes alone. She'd hacked into the prison surveillance system before heading inside, she had everything she could find on Dante Reyes.

If she manages to get Reyes alone she didn't even know what her plan of action was, would she kill him? Would she negotiate? She didn't know, she sure was regretting not involving the higher ups but she did pretty good, having already taken down and cuffed a dozen of Reyes' men, she felt a little more confident than she had.

She got out of the prison cell she was using as a checkpoint, her bow taut, she feet light as she maneuvered around the place, no prisoner was running aloof, maybe they had escaped or joined Reyes, or formed a gang of their own.
There were too much what ifs in her mind, her ever running mind didn't even seem to quieten down right now.

A buzzing came from above her, quickly pointing her bow above her in a swift motion, Kate stood confused, a device seemed to be hovering over her head, a small device that seemed to be scanning her through the lens it had, something dangling from its end.
Either the device would end her after scanning or maybe Reyes found her.

Watching carefully as the device moved to hover in front of her face, she watched from her bow as it kept swinging back and forth bringing her attention to the ear piece hanging from its end.

"I'm not putting that in," Kate whispered, looking at the device which seemed to have registered what she was saying now moving closer to her face in a swift action but Kate had an arrow pointed at it.

"Put the damn ear piece in," Came a voice from the device, startling Kate, the voice was low only audible to her.

"Clint?!" Kate whispered lowering her bow, immediately taking the ear piece in ducking inside another cell watching the device follow her in stopping in the doorway to keep watch.

"Are you mad?"
"What were you thinking?"
"Kate Bishop-"

A string of curses and whatnots ran through the ear piece, she knew they could see her through that device, a small device that Kate had probably seen before but with SHIELD now in her day to day life, she was sure she'd only seen about 1% of things.

"Guys!" Kate interrupted their valid anger, "Kind of on a tight schedule!"

"Right, okay," said an unfamiliar voice, "Could you find a power box inside the prison?-"

"Something that has access to the whole place-" Interrupted a second voice, a woman.

"I was getting to that-"
"Guys, shut up," said a third voice also a woman immediately shutting the two up.

"What's going on?" Kate asked, her shifty eyes stared at the device in confusion, one hand to her ear piece while the other held an arrow.

"I'm Agent Daisy Johnson," came a much needed introduction, "And Agent Fitz and Simmons."

Kate had heard about them, she knew Agent Johnson as Quake, the inhuman with vibration powers, and the geniuses, the brains behind SHIELD.

When LMD Phil Coulson had "returned" to the world and joined up with SHIELD and Avengers remotely, it had been quite a buzz around, Clint had told Kate about Phil Coulson and Kate had researched.

"Okay cool," Kate nodded at the camera, already aware of the daggers she had her way, "I've been trying to find the power source for 2 hours now."

"You know about the dampners?" Fitz asked, surprise in his voice.

Kate shrugged, "wasn't hard to find out, tweaked a bit of panels near the entrance and Bishop Security automated the responses to me, I know the place of every dampner set."

It got quiet for a second, she tapped her ear piece hoping it wasn't an emp that made it quiet.

"You're gonna help us destroy those," said Daisy in a hurry, "We're gonna send the dwar on a survey before we give you the all clear."

"His name is Grumpy!"

The dwarf flew out the cell leaving Kate pressed against the back wall behind the bunks watching every wind pass by, her hand cramped from how hard she held her arrow but she was terrified to be in a prison overrun by goons with no back up.

"Kate?"
"Yelena, hi," she's recognise that voice in her sleep, she also knew the huge list of scolding prepared for her and she would gladly accept it if it meant Yelena would talk to her and not give her the silent treatment.

"Are you okay?"
"How private is this channel?" Kate asked slumping against the wall, sliding down to completely sit on the ground.
"Private," Yelena replied, stood in the farthest corner of the room, the ear piece in her ear.

"I'm scared," Kate replied, "I'm scared that I'm gonna find my mom in a position I can never look away from, and I'm terrified of missing the opportunity to take you out on a drink again."

Yelena inhaled sharply, her bottom lip between her teeth as she fought every fiber of her being to just barge in the prison and get Kate out and to safety, "You won't, okay? You promised to show me New York."

Kate laughed quietly, "I have so much to show you."
"Just hold on till I get there, okay? We save your mom and we go get our drink, yeah?"

"Sounds like a plan, Lena."

_______

The plan was going smooth.
With FitzSimmons guiding Kate through the prison, Daisy helping her destroy the dampners without frying her in ear, and Yelena slowly infiltrating the prison to minimise any weak points that could arise having the whole of Avengers infiltrate the prison at once, it all seemed to be going to plan.

Then Kate came across a child, with a note attached to her bleeding leg.

*Find me in the east wing if don't want to be responsible more deaths.*

Dante Reyes had killed a child in his quest to get to her, the way the child had been thrown on the ground made Kate sick, almost throwing up as she stared at the lifeless eyes of the girl, here to visit her family and getting killed because Kate couldn't stop.

"Yelena?" Kate called with shaky hands, her voice quivering as she stood up covering the child with a blanket.

"Almost to your location," Yelena sounded winded, having fought of a dozen men 39 minutes into the mission to get Kate, she wasn't a super soldier like her father or Captain America.

Kate sighed, raising her bow, an arrow taut towards the dwarf that hovered over her, everybody knew what had happened and everybody knew what she was going to do, the reason why Kate had shifted her and Yelena to a seperate channel.
Releasing the arrow as the dwarf made an attempt to escape, it struck down to the ground loosing power and visuals on Kate Bishop.

"Save a drink for me?"

Yelena paused in the middle of the hallway, a man held in a headlock as she stood in confusion, from what Fitz had told her, she was a minute or two away from Kate, this was an unpredicted response.
"Kate?"
It was all static, nothing on the other side.

In a fit of rage, Yelena snapped the man's neck, walking over the limp body only one mission on her mind.

"Where is she?"

"She's turned off her tracker!" Fitz yelled in her ear, rummaging around the lab they were assigned to.

"She's headed to the east wing, we're bringing back up to you, Yelena, do not go further," Natasha ordered, praying to whoever would listen to let her sister listen to her for once.

"No," Yelena ignored, coming around a corner she shot two men posted there, Reyes knew they were already in, no point in holding the stealth.

Yelena didn't know what Kate saw or what happened but she knew it wasn't pretty, Kate was impulsive, yes but if she knew her mentors were depending on her to open a space for them she'd do it no questions asked so this wasn't impulsive, this was something else.

Getting to the last known location, Yelena looked around the unconscious bodies all with wires wrapped around their hands and feets, one body covered with a blanket in the far end of the place, leaning against a pillar.

Yelena knew who it was from the small outline of the body, a child.

A man wiling to kill children for his goal was the devil himself, and Kate just walked into his mouth.

"Natasha?"
"We're in, heading to your location." It wasn't hard for the two assassins and the super soldier to get in, considering Yelena and Kate had secured most of the entrance safe for entrace, the hostages were still held at the end of the prison, something SHIELD was working on clearing.

"No, you're going somewhere else."

______

Kate had her bow in her dominant hand, her quiver in her other as she walked closer to the east wing.

She'd come across a dozen men stationed at the entrance who from the looks of it knew to let her go through without hurting her which was good considering the amount of men that would pounce on her and turn her to dust.

"Kate Bishop," called a voice from the railing above her, stood in the middle of the prison cells all around her she could make out the figure of Dante Reyes stood tall and menacing above her.

"Where's my mother?" Kate asked, her voice steady, she stood tall despite the pit in her stomach that was forcing her to double over but she fought it.

"Now if I tell you, it'll take all the fun out of it," Reyes walked towards the stairs, a gun swinging in his hand.

Kate fought against herself to arm herself with her arrow, she knew the more she resisted the more her mother would suffer.

"You want me, alright?" Kate bargainers, watching as Reyes slowly walked towards her, "My mother has nothing to do with this."

"Oh but she does," Reyes stopped a few feet away from Kate, "She had her orders and she didn't follow them to perfection."

Kate sighed, her hand flexed around her bow, she felt every eyes on her, stalking her, mocking her as she stood as prey in the middle of the east wing, even if her and Yelena had made it together here it would've been a hassle to clear this wing and get everyone out.

"How about this?" Reyes walked towards one of the prison cells, Kate followed him her eyes widening as she saw the way the hostages were piled inside the tiny cell, gasping for air, the kids on the adults shoulder fighting for their lives, "You give me what I want and I'll let 2 of them out."

"And what do you want?" Kate asked, her focus on the people inside the cell, all of them counting on her to get them out.

"See any idiot would know that after this," Reyes gestures around the prison, "there's no way I'll walk out a free man."

Kate waited for him to continue, her mind too loud to form a snarky replies, she'd have to ask Natasha to train her for this.

"I want you to use your company and erase me from existence."

"What?" Kate stared at him, wiping him from existence would mean every charges against him would be void, there would be no Dante Reyes to prosecute, no Dante Reyes to hold accountable for his crimes.

"What? Can't do it?" Reyes taunted, bringing the gun up and pointing it at the people in the cell, watching them scramble in the small space, "want me to wipe them out of existence then? Maybe that would get your tiny incompetent brain working!"

Kate armed her bow in a swift motion pointing it at Reyes, watching from the corner of her eyes as the whole place erupted with shouts and a dozen gun pointed at her head.

Reyes clicked his tounge, "Now now, Kate Bishop, do you really want to risk your lovers life on this off chance that you can kill me?"

Kate faltered for a second, watching in disbelief as one of Reyes' goon dragged in an unconscious Yelena Belova, bloody on her temple.

"We managed to capture a widow!" Reyes shouted in triumph, "She put up quite a fight for a woman."

Kate watched as the goon manhandled Yelena, roughly dragging her across the floor, her anger grew second by second as she watched them treat Yelena like a doll.

She didn't care how or why they captured Yelena, right now her mission was something else, getting Yelena to safety and then coming back for her mother.

"Speechless?" Reyes mocked stalking to her, signaling to one of his men as he stopped in front of Kate blocking Kate's view.

"Are you seeing this, Mama Bishop?"

Eleanor Bishop was led into the room, cuffed like a dog she was dragged into the room, her lip busted open, a slit on her eyebrow.

"Your daughter is in love," Reyes turned to Eleanor.

"Mom!" Kate called, her bow still pointed at Reyes, "Are you okay?"

"Don't worry about me, Kate," Eleanor replied, her gaze stuck at Reyes holding the man's attention to her, "Do what's needed to be done."

"Did you not hear me tell you about your daughter-in-law?" Reyes mocked hurt as he stalked towards the older Bishop, holding the gun to the woman's head, "your daughter chose someone over you."

"And I could not have been happier," Eleanor replied, she could see Kate struggling to not lodge the arrow in Reyes.

Reyes laughed, "You're a weird duo, the two of you," he turned to Kate, "The daughter who put the mom in prison and the mom willing to die for the said daughter."

Kate sighed, her patience running thin, on one hand her mother was provoking Reyes getting him to snap to give Kate a loophole in him, on the other hand the goon had started getting handsy with the widow.

Kate watched in horror as the goon, slowly slid his free hand from Yelena's neck going south, the zip at the base of her neck coming undone as his hands travelled lower on the unconscious woman, smirking back to his friends, enjoying having a Black Widow at his mercy.

Kate let the arrow fly, feeling the woosh of air as it flew out the bow and towards it target, it's trajectory not wavering as it lodged in the neck of the goon, blood splattering as the man hit the ground, clutching his neck with both hands letting the widow fall on the ground with a thud.

"Kate!"

Before Kate had time to register who was yelling her name, she hit the ground as if her whole body had been paralyzed. Screams of terror and gunshots were muffled as Kate fought to keep her eyes open, a stiffening pain on her left side caused her to pass out, clutching onto her bow as she stared at Yelena running to her before darkness took over.

_______

It was a weird itch, in her left side, almost as if someone was scratching, pulling, probing into and out of her.

Her head was heavy, lifting it up seemed to be a task, as if someone had put a boulder on her head, her chest, her legs.

An involuntary groan left her as she tried shifting, her sides burning when she moved an inch.

"Don't move, you'll hurt yourself."
That voice, Yelena's voice!

Kate forced her eyes open, wincing against the hospital lights she blinked rapidly trying to adjust her blurry view, she couldn't see Yelena, only blurs of colors around her, a stinging in her arm. Needles. Her body was cold, the hospital gown.

"Yelena?" Her throat hurt to speak, immediately wincing at the stretch of her sore throat, she tried to bite down a cough.

"Kate," Kate felt Yelena grab her face, her cold hands meeting her cheek instantly holding her in place, her shifty eyes focused on the blurry vision of Yelena Belova.

Yelena said something in Russian, Kate was too out of it to understand, her hands holding onto Yelena's against her cheeks.

Slowly as Kate took in deep breaths, her vision cleared. Yelena stood over her, her usually slicked back hair now flow freely against her face. Filled with nicks and bruises but to Kate that face brought her comfort. Enough for her to calm down.

"Are you okay?" Kate asked, her voice scratchy as she watched Yelena, watching as her brows knit together looking at their conjoined hands.

"You're in a hospital bed," Yelena said, her voice low and slow to bite down the quiver of it, "And you're asking me, if I'm okay?"

Kate nodded slowly, she remembered what she saw, what prompted her to kill a man in cold blood, and there was no regret she'd ever feel for her actions.

"Stop making me like you," Yelena said, remembering what Kate had told her years before, that stuck a pang of hope in her.

"I'm sorry I can't help it," Kate smiled, she remembered every interaction of theirs, even small, categorising it as being careful then. Right now? She was head over heels.

Kate watched Yelena take in a huge breath, "I'm gonna kiss you now, you have three seconds to push me away."

Kate's stomach did a flip, the same flip she felt at every thought of Yelena but more intense, anticipation as Yelena slowly inched closer, counting under her breath to 3 in Russian.

Before Yelena had gotten to two, Kate had pulled her down, as she arched up chasing the widow's lips, her sides burned, every part of her body screamed for her to lay still but the moment they met, it was ecstasy, with Yelena's hand on her abdomen softly holding Kate steady, the other holding Kate's cheek ever so lightly as if she were cradling a piece of glass.

Kate had her arms around Yelena's shoulder, holding her down, not ready to let go, praying to drag out this moment as long as humanly possible.

But Yelena had pulled away, flushed and panting as she stared at Kate, red lights going off in her head, a mere kiss had made her feel so much, she was scared of all the things she could feel if she stayed, if she let herself lean in for another.

Against her instincts and the voice in her head, Yelena leaned back in, placing a soft peck on Kate's lips before she nuzzled her head against Kate's neck, careful of the bandages on her.

Kate held Yelena's neck pulling her as close as she could with the obstacles between them, her left arm draped over Yelena's arm, the maximum movement she could manage.

"So I was shot?" Kate asked, scratching Yelena's scalp softly, feeling the widow shudder against her.
She had a million questions about what happened, how they were here, where her mom was, what exactly happened, but with Yelena pressed against her she couldn't form those words.

Yelena nodded against her, moving back to sit on the chair after making sure Kate was comfortable, "Six shotgun bullet your side."

Kate winced, no wonder she felt so much worse than all the times she'd been shot, "My mom?"

"She's okay," Yelena assured, "We brought her here to get her checked and they took her after."

Kate sighed, she didn't know how long she'd been out, she was hoping to see her mother without a glass barrier between them.

"Is she up?"

Kate lifted her head to look at Clint sticking his head in through the door looking at Yelena, she could see the outline of a few people behind him.

Yelena nodded, getting up to let the others pile in the room, she watched as Clint rushed in the room, started fussing over Kate, Natasha and Wanda standing behind him silently and calmly checking up on the archer, Steve and Tony stood back letting them interact.

"What were you thinking?!" Clint hit her shoulder, mindful of her injuries but making his point known.

"Oh come on!" Kate whined, rubbing where he hit to gain sympathy points, she didn't get any.

"That was reckless, Kate," Natasha spoke, "Do you know how hard it is to take care of a worried and angry Yelena?"

Kate smirked her eyes landing at Yelena who stood glaring at her sister, "You were worried?"

Yelena turned to look at Kate, her eyes softening, "of course I was."

"She's more of a sap than you, Natalie," Tony commented, walking up to the bed, "Once you're out of bed, I'd like to discuss a business proposition with you Ms. Bishop."

Kate put her best professional face she could considering the medicines being pumped in her, "My assistant can schedule that, Mr. Stark."

Tony nodded before walking out the room, leaving the closest ones to check up on the upcoming Avenger.
Steve followes close, checking to make sure Kate was comfortable before following Tony to the cafeteria.

"Reyes?" Kate asked when Steve had walked out, the defeated look was enough answer for her.

"SHIELD is looking for him," Wanda answered, "I'm in direct contact with Johnson and FitzSimmons, you don't need to worry."

"Speaking of," Clint spoke up, "We should let her rest," he stood up squeezing Kate's hand before moving away the married duo following him, watching with a smirk as Yelena immediately occupied the seat beside Kate.

Before either Clint or Natasha could comment, Wanda led them out of the room, leaving the two to talk.

Yelena watched Kate slowly adjust herself on the bed, her assistance on the ready whenever Kate needed it but she settled down soon turning her head to look at her.

Kate smiled, Yelena had moved closer to the bed, her elbows resting on the bed as she stared at the archer, studying, memorising, watching.

"Are you okay?" Yelena asked, the room had been bombarded with people as soon as Kate had woken up, that could get overwhelming.

Kate reached forward, pulling Yelena to her by her chin, taking her bottom lip between hers, she felt Yelena shift closer in the kiss, her hand resting on Kate's neck, the other sporting her weight.

"Maybe I should get shot more," Kate said pulling away, "What?" Yelena squinted her eyes in confusion.

"Yeah, if this is the response, I should get shot more," Kate smiled as Yelena groaned shaking her head at the archer.

"You can just ask me to kiss you, Kate Bishop," Yelena ignored the change of subject instead focusing on right now, she had eternity to make sure Kate was okay, "You don't have to be so dramatic about it."

Kate shrugged, the best she could, "It's the theatre kid in me."

Yelena chuckled, having seen little Kate's theatre videos as her research on her.

Dante Reyes was still out there, with just as much, maybe more, of hatred against Kate Bishop but Yelena made a promise, as long as she was around, she'd give her everything to protect Kate Bishop, even the world if it meant Kate was safe.

Right now, they were content on sitting by each other, joking, flirting, kissing. Can't forget about kissing, it made them feel things, things they mostly Yelena knew she could never feel in her life and maybe just maybe she wanted to hold on to it even though the assasin in her wanted her to run as fast as she could.
