Book 4 Outtake

Fred lashed out a hand, grabbing his younger brother's arm before he could approach the the Fat Lady's portrait. The older Weasley matched his brother's glare with one of his own, startling Ronald. His words were equally startling.

"You want to huff and puff, glare and whine, turning your jealousy into anger? Be my guest. Don't. Turn it into an argument with-" 'my' "-the spitfire."

"Oh, yeah? Th' fuck d'y'know?" Ron wrenched his arm free as Fred grit his teeth at his brother's tone. Stubborn as he was, Fred was more-so. Especially when it concerned hisFirecracker.

"I know that she wanted nothing to do with this whole terrible ordeal. I know she plead to me that she didn't enter. I know that if you don't cool your thick head, you're going to say something you don't mean and ruin the best damn friendship you'll ever have."

Fred really didn't like the look of dawning realisation on the younger redhead's face. Running his words back in his head, Fred had to hide a wince.

"Bloody Hel! You fancy her! That's what's got your knickers in a twist, innit?"

Fred shoved his brother against the flagstone wall, holding him there with his left hand covering the younger teen's mouth. His amber-blue eyes took on an icy glint as he stared into Ron's cornflower blues.

"I might, but you aren't going to say a damn thing, Ronniekins. Know why? Spider-Teddy will only be the tip of the nightmare iceberg, you understand?" Fred got satisfaction from watching bone-chilled fear flash in his brother's eyes as he nodded best he could. "Good chap."

Fred smiled and removed his hand, cheekily using it to lightly pat Ron's cheek twice.

Stepping back, his smile dropped and his gaze softened. "... I really did mean it. Cool your head before talking with Harry. She isn't your emotional punching bag."

Ron looked away, pushing away from the wall, and headed into the common room without a word more to Fred. The older Weasley just shook his head and followed after.

He had to keep an eye on the hothead, after all.
