The Marauders Halloweekend
“Happy Halloween!” James called as he caught up to Sirius and Remus who were already walking to the feast.
“You’ve said Happy Halloween at least twenty times today mate.” Remus replied.
“Come on Moony!” Sirius whined “Where’s your Halloween Spirit?”
“You know I don’t like Halloween.”
“This Halloween is going to be fun.”
“Oh trust me I remember you’re making me dress up.”
“Come on Remus! It’s fun!”
“Sorry for starting a bit of a fight, lads.” James cut in again.
“Not your fault.” Sirius said with a wave of his hand.
“Where’s Pete?” Remus asked
“I’m not sure.” James relapsed.
“Yeah I haven’t seen Wormy all day.” Sirius added.
“We’ll see him at the feast.”
“Yeah.”
“Right I know I said I hate Halloween but the feast is bloody amazing.” Remus said
“Right!” Sirius exclaimed.
“Yeah. I love the feast too.” Peter said. The boy had gotten there early and was waiting for the other Marauders.
“Halloween!” James yelled loud enough for almost everyone to hear.
“Excited Potter?” Lily asked, nudging him a bit. Marlene raised her the rows at Sirius. Lily had started flirting with James a bit which made the entire group happy as they all could see the two were perfect for each other.
“Yup! Halloween 1975! It’s going to be the best Evans I guarantee!”
“Halloween’s always been James’ favorite holiday.” Marlene said to Lily once James turned his attention back to his friends.
“Really?”
“Yeah he liked most holidays but he lived for Halloween.”
“Hmmm. I quite like Halloween too.”
“Good because we already have our costumes for tonight planned.” Mary said with a laugh.
Marlene looked at Sirius at this and smirked, winking a bit. He did the same and the two had to fight to hide their giggles.
The feast was nearing the end when all of a sudden a piece of candy landed in Lily’s drink “What?” After that candy started falling more rapidly onto the Gryffindor table.
“Happy Halloween!” James and Sirius both yelled.
Peter followed suit a second later and Remus just sat there shaking his head slightly.
The Marauders and the girls all walked to the Gryffindor dorms together. Dorcas Meadows, the Slytherin who is dating Marlene, joined them. They were going to go get ready and then meet in the common room for the Halloween party that they decided to throw. “Plan’s in motion?” Sirius whispered to Marlene.
“Yup! Don’t suspect a thing.”
The two secretly high fived and then went towards their respective dorms.
“James, does Marlene know what we’re dressing as?” Peter asked. The three had always dressed together for Halloween when they were kids.
“She should. I told her if we went as Avengers today we could go as X-Men on Saturday.”
“Why didn’t you guys ask me what I wanted to be?”
“Well… what did you want to be?”
“I don’t know.”
“That’s why. Marlene and I both knew.”
“I guess.”
Sirius chimed in then “Oh cheer up mate! We’re all dressing up together; there aren’t many costumes for ei- five people.”
The two boys quickly went back to dressing up but Remus moved closer to Sirius, “You almost said eight.” he whispered.
“I got Marlene to convince Lily and Mary to join. Lily and James will be dressing as a couple Saturday without knowing!”
“Cute.” Remus muttered.
“This is going to be so fun!” Marlene yelled as the girl’s were getting ready.
“I don’t know why we let you choose both costumes this year.” Mary said then “So dorky.”
“It’s fun!” Marlene retorted.
Dorcas smirked and kissed her “It’s dorky babe.”
“Yeah. I don’t even really know who I’m dressing as.”
“Come on! Neither of you have read comics?”
“No.” Lily said.
“Haven’t even picked one up.” Mary said.
“But you guys had access to them!”
“Never interested me.” Mary said with a shrug and Lily nodded in agreement.
“Well trust me tonight’s going to be fun and we’re all wearing the perfect costumes.”
The boys started clamoring down the stairs arguing about something none of them would remember in a couple minutes. As they were, the girls walked down together too giggling about something.
“What?!” James yelled. “You lot dressed with us too!”
Sirius smirked. “What are you on about?” Lily asked.
“Looks like we’re all wearing matching costumes.” Marlene said then with a shrug. “Oops.”
Mary immediately started laughing and Lily shot her a look.
“You look good Evans!” James called.
Lily couldn’t help but blush. “Thanks you don’t look too bad Potter.” James was dressed in a Spiderman suit with the mask tied to his waist so his face was visible for that moment. Lily was Black Widow.
“Your costume looks so bloody cool!” Marlene yelled at Sirius. He was going as Iron Man and managed to enchant a suit of armor so he could get into it and control it along with changing its color to Iron Man’s red and gold.
“Thanks! You look cute!” Marlene was dressed as Carol Danvers.
“My girlfriend always looks cute.” Dorcas said, pulling Marlene closer. Dorcas was dressed as A Valkyrie.
“Thanks babe! You look so hot.” Marlene replied.
“Ugh!” Remus groaned “Couples make me sick.” Remus was dressed as The Hulk. It was quite ironic that the werewolf was dressed as the superhero that transforms into a monster, but he liked it.
“I’m with you in that.” Mary replied. She was dressed as Spider Woman and did the same as James with her mask.
“Me too.” Peter said quietly. He was dressed as Hawkeye. The group spent the rest of the night laughing, drinking, joking, and eating candy. Everyone had fun after the initial shock of matching.
“Saturday’s gonna be better.” Marlene whispered to Sirius.
“Yeah I can’t wait until James realizes they have a couples costume!”
“Me too! It’s gonna be brilliant!”
This time the boys had gotten ready first and we’re milling around the common room already. “Are they matching us again?” James asked.
“I dunno.” Peter replied
“Don’t ask me.” Sirius replied through a badly hidden smirk. Remus shook his head at the boy.
“Who do you think she’ll be?” James asked.
“Well Marlene does love Polaris..”
“I was talking about Evans! Come on Black.”
Just then the girls walked down the stairs. “Oh.” James started and Sirius burst out laughing along with Marlene.
“What’s so funny?” Lily asked looking at James.
“Um… Well. In the Comics the character your dressed as and the one I'm dressed as we’re dating and eventually married.”
“McKinnon!” Lily yelled.
“Black!” James yelled.
Both Marlene and Sirius were practically in tears from laughter. “They had a son together too!” Marlene added. Lily rolled her eyes and James blushed a bit.
“James always says how he wants a son!” Sirius called back.
“Shut it!” James yelled, blushing.
“You guys are awful.” Mary said “I bloody love it.”
James was dressed as Cyclops and Lily as Jean Grey. The two were awkward at first, but eventually got over it and spent the night laughing together.
Again Remus was dressed in a costume that hinted to werewolf as he was Beast. He liked this costume though from what he knew Beast was quite friendly and not very aggressive. Sirius was Wolverine, who James said fit him well. Remus didn’t know who that was but figured he could trust James. The two spent the night next to each other both flirting as subtly as possible so no one else noticed they were together. They weren’t ready for that yet.
Marlene was Polaris like Sirius had said earlier and Dorcas was Storm. “She’s like the most powerful X-Men ever!” Marlene exclaimed when telling Dorcas about Storm. “So it fits you well.”
“Thanks babe. I think Polaris sounded pretty badass too.” The two snuggled together on the couch and spent the night all over each other.
Mary was dressed as The Scarlet Witch who apparently was next level powerful according to James and Marlene. Mary nodded when they said that “Perfect for me then.”
“She’s hot as hell too!” Marlene added with a smile.
“Perfect.” Mary spent the night moving between groups and and flirting with people who entered the party. She was making good of her Casanova of Gryffindor Tower title.
Peter went as a character called Nightcrawler. James talked about how much he loved Nightcrawler and Marlene did too. Marlene kept telling Peter how awesome Nightcrawler was and how much she loved him. It obviously made Peter happy.
They all spent another night hanging around each other laughing and enjoying Halloween. “I want to spend every Halloween like this!” James yelled in the middle of the night. Everyone else agreed quickly.
Though later on Peter looked a bit sad. James walked up to him “What’s up mate?”
“What about when we leave Hogwarts? Will we ever celebrate Halloween together again?”
“I promise we will Pete. I will never spend Halloween without you.”
“Promise?”
“I promise! You’ve been my best mate since we were kids.” James hugged Peter and the boy melted into James. Everything was perfect.
