I Surrender All
HARRY
It has been a week since Sev was put in a magical coma and there was not much that could be said about his condition while there was no downfall in his vitals there was no improvement either.
I have not left Sev's side even for a moment. I refused to even get up from where I sat. Everyone tried to get me to walk around, eat something, get some rest. But the only answer they got from me was, "I'm not leaving his side."
One night found me lying on the edge of Severus' bed asleep. My body finally gave out from staying up for so long. I had my fingers linked with Severus's.
I woke with a crick in my neck. Deep down, I knew I should have laid down, but I just couldn't leave Severus' side. I lifted his head when I felt movement against my hand. It was subtle at first. I almost missed it, but then it happened again and this time the movement was there for a little bit longer.
I flew out of my chair in joy with so much force knocking it out to the floor but that was the least of my concern. I was so overjoyed, my heart was thumping loudly in my chest as I screamed for Poppy who rushed out of her private chambers, still in her night robes and I felt somewhat guilty for waking her up so early but the guilt was overpowered by the joy and hope I was feeling at the moment.
"He moved," I said excitedly. "He moved," I informed her again, clutching Sev's hand to my chest as Poppy was quick to cast a diagnosis charm over him, a small smile spreading on her face.
"His condition is stabilizing," Poppy announced and I couldn't hold back the tears of joy that were flowing down my cheeks. This was the best day of my life. I felt the weight holding me down for the past few days lift up to a great extent. I leaned closer to Severus, cupping his cheek and murmuring to him.
"Come back to me, my little one," I said softly. "Let dada take care of you. I can feel you fighting. Continue to fight and come to me. I miss my Little Sev."
Draco and Hermione walked in with smiles on their faces as they made their way over to me but something caught their eye as they stopped dead in their tracks, their smiles dropping drastically, a look of concern and worry replacing it.
"Sweet Merlin," Hermione gasped and stepped away from Draco's side, bumping him in the process. I felt my heart rise to my throat as Madam Pomfrey rushed to her side as she levitated an unconscious Pansy onto a bed.
"Ms. Parkinson," Poppy exclaimed. I was torn. I wanted to check on my girlfriend, but I couldn't leave my Little's side. It wasn't as if I could make a choice as Severus refused to let go of my hand. So, I decided to wait until Poppy made her assessments and find out what was going on. What was happening to me? First Sev and now Pansy. Tears flowed down my cheeks as Poppy ran a diagnosis spell on her and all I could do was wait, anxiousness seeping up my veins.
"Oh, dear," Poppy sighed. I once again turned towards the other bed.
"What is it?" I asked. "What's wrong with Pansy?"
"She...she doesn't have a magical core," Poppy said. "She's now a squib."
"What?!" I yelled. My heart was clenching in pain, beating so fast that it felt like it would burst out of my chest.
I wanted to stand up and go to her. I was about to pry my hand out of Severus' when I felt a tug. I turned around to meet the intense black orbs that I have missed so much. Sev was looking at me in pain and sadness and I was on my alert mode.
"Sevvy," I sighed. "Does it hurt anywhere? Your head? Legs? Anything?" I questioned frantically, trying to scan him for any sign of pain or anything. Tears pooled his eyes as he looked over at me.
SEVERUS
His voice was music to my ears. "I am sorry dada," These were the first words that came out of me as I looked over at the man who I have started looking up to as a parent in such a short span of time. As the words were out of my mind, a golden shimmer surrounded us for a moment before disappearing. I repeated the apology again and again not knowing what else to say as he pulled me into a warm embrace, comforting me as I inhaled his sweet scent relishing the feeling of being with him again.
"Don't worry yourself," Harry soothed. "I'm here. You are mine. You will never leave me, nor will I ever leave. No matter how many tantrums you have, I'll be here, always. We will be talking about it once we reach home." He finished sternly and I nodded, hiding my face in his shirt again.
"Is Severus, okay?" Someone asked and we looked over at Pansy who was being held back by Hermione from getting up. She looked weak yet the determined look on her face contrasted her fragile state.
"He's fine," Hermione assured. "He just woke up."
"I need to see him," Pansy said, attempting to stand up.
"Wait." Hermione, Draco, and Poppy said at the same time. Though Pansy was able to sit up, Poppy successfully kept Pansy from moving.
"You need to rest," Poppy said.
"No," Pansy countered. "I need to be near my family."
I was shocked by her declaration and from the look of it, Harry was too. She got up on wobbly legs and made her way towards us, taking support of the bed rails. Harry reached out for her hand and she accepted it taking a few final steps by his support as she collapsed into the chair beside my bed and breathed heavily.
"Pansy, sweetheart, what did you do?" Harry questioned. I was confused as to what he was referring to. What she said next hit me hard.
"I gave you back our Little," Pansy answered smoothly.
My heartbeat sped as I listened to her referring to me as if she was my family and it gave me a fuzzy feeling in the pit of my stomach the same as I had when Harry accepted me as his little. It was the best feeling I could ever experience. She radiated a motherly aura that was calm and soothing. I wanted to hug her but held myself back anticipating a negative reaction.
"How?" Harry inquired. "What did you do?"
"Hermione and I searched for an answer," Pansy responded. I listened to her intently wanting to know what exactly she did.
"For anything that could help. We weren't going to stand by and watch this precious Little, who survived a rough childhood, having to be controlled by a madman, and leave this world now that he has found his dada." Harry didn't interrupt her as she continued. "While we looked through the Hogwarts library, we couldn't find anything."
She stopped a while to take a breath and Hemione handed her a glass of water which she gulped down in a go. I was so happy to have found someone who found me worthy enough to go through so much trouble just to bring me from my death bed so I could be with the ones who cared and loved me. At that moment I realized how wrong I was for shutting everyone out when they would have stood by my side and helped me. Looking at everyone surrounding me I now knew how wrong I was to hide my classification from them just because I was afraid of them rejecting to accept me when here I was with all of them donating their blood and sweat just to see me alive. I was no longer ashamed of my classification. My family was by my side and that's all I wanted.
"So, I went to my father's library," Pansy continued, bringing me out of my thoughts. "He had a lot of dark books. Some spells can be used to transfer a person's magical core to another. The side effect would be that the witch or wizard wouldn't survive. Now, I was willing to give my life to bring Severus back to you," Pansy looked at Harry, "if it cost me my life. But what I found; there was one way of doing it that wouldn't harm the subject losing their core. It must be a willing participant. It wasn't used because none of the potential castors wanted to willingly give up their magic."
"You transferred your magical core?" Hermione asked shock evident on her face matching the expression of every other person in the room as they looked over at Pansy.
"Why?" Harry asked.
"Severus is too special, not to," she answered and the fuzzy feeling was back. I didn't know what to do as I looked over at my former student with adoration and couldn't help the bright smile that overtook my features. Pansy smiled back, bringing her hands up to comb them through my hair. The calm I felt by her action cannot be put into words. I could see the oil sticking to her fingers as she brought them back but she didn't seem to mind, smiling the whole time. She placed her hand on Harry's thigh and whipped her hand on his pant and smirking at him as he gave her a disgusted look and everyone laughed at the exchange. Surprisingly enough I felt comfortable being myself around these people.
"He's ours to cherish. And that is what we will do." Pansy leaned close to me and kissed my forehead. I just smiled at her, grateful that she accepted me for who I was.
"How did you go about doing it?" Hermione asked, bringing everyone out of that sentimental moment. There you go with the know it all.
"There is an incantation that must be said over a few gathered items," Pansy stated. "Nothing too difficult." She said waving around what looked like a muggle phone. Harry took it from her grasp, scanning it.
"You are absolutely amazing," Harry said, his eyes filled with nothing but love and adoration towards Pansy.
"You do know this is the most expensive phone out there," Harry said looking at the device.
"Well, how can I settle for anything but the best? I am soon to be Mrs. Potter, am I not Mr. Potter?" Harry didn't say a word, red tinting his cheeks as he looked down on his lap.
"That's Pansy for you, Mr. Potter." Draco mocked and everyone laughed except for Harry who looked like a tomato.
As we calmed down, Pansy looked over at Harry. For the first time, there was doubt and fear written on her face. I had never seen Pansy look this upset, not even when she received the news of her parent's death during the war. I looked over at Harry who was also looking her, a worried look painted on his face.
"Is everything all right?" Harry asked softly.
"You won't look at me differently now that I don't have powers?" Pansy feebly asked and her question took all of us by surprise as all the eyes turned to Harry, anticipating his reaction.
Harry pulled Pansy into a one-arm hug. He kissed her temples.
"I will always love you," Harry declared. "Even if you're a fat, old lady with white hairs." Harry tried to hide the smirk that was growing on his face. It was a wonderful feeling to see him teasing someone again after so much stress. Pansy lightly pushed away from Harry, smacking his arm. It was relaxing to see everyone laughing and being themselves again after the phase of tension and stress.
What now???
