Another character?? Wow!
Muggleborn and a half blood muggleborn and a half-blood. The thought repeated through my head like a mantra. I was so screwed, why did I think this would be a good idea? I inhaled deeply. Everything would be fine. Hopefully father had to leave early like he said he would, mother was much more kind when dismissing his opinions, after all.
I glanced around the restaurant, searching for any sign of my parents when- there! A silver flash of reflected light caught my attention. My mother’s earrings, which carried the Black family sigil. I resisted the urge to grimace. Another argument between mother and father then. Mother always tried to keep me ignorant of their matrimonial issues but… well, they weren’t exactly quiet in their yells.
Jackson nudged me with his elbow.
“Hey, you sure you’re fine?” He asked, concern coating his face, and his American accent. I had heard many accents before, with how many people father met with, so I had originally decided to not point it out. After all, it was considered impolite and Draco Malfoy had to be a respectful, pure, and strong pureblooded boy-
“Draco?” Jackson’s voice snapped me out of my thoughts, the use of my first name startling. Right, Americans called each other by first name. So it’d be more respectful to refer to him by his first name as well.
“Yeah I just zoned out, look, my mother is over there,” I pointed at her, straightening myself up and leading the way towards where she was sitting. Potter and Ja- Percy followed like incredibly awkward ducklings. It wasn’t until we got closer that I realized that there was someone else sitting across from her. My heart dropped for a second, wondering if father actually had stayed, before I noticed the plain, all black robes the figure wore. Severus, my mind whispered. I heard someone behind me out an annoyed groan behind him.
“Please don't tell me professor shape his your dad," Percy hissed quietly into my ear.
“What? That's insanity! He's my godfather you Dingus” I whispered back, accidentally catching mother’s attention. She gave me a sweet smile.
“Draco! We've been waiting, and you brought… Friends?" she paused, looking at Percy and Potter with a piercing look. I nodded, ignoring the nervousness in my system.
“I met them while getting my robes. They’re funny,” any and all plan flew out my head. That was so pathetic. They're funny? Seriously? Mother simply nodded.
“Well, we should get going, your father got a letter from the ministry and had to go in to discuss some things. I have all your stuff now, so we’re going home. Say goodbye to your friends,” she said, calmly standing and brushing herself off. Severus stayed quiet, seemingly dissecting the conversation and occasionally lightly glaring at Percy. Wondering how they knew each other, I turned to the other two kids.
“I’ll send you guys an owl?" the word slipped out of my mouth before it occurred to me they might not understand that. As I thought, they both side eyed each other before nodding.
“Um, yeah sure, that's where you send the letters right?" Potter asked.
“Hurry on Draco," Hi mother called from where she was paying for their drinks.
“I'm coming! Yeah that's what it is, bye,” I wave at the awkwardly before rushing to catch up to mother.
She let out a long sigh onc they were outside.
“Draco, darling, they weren't pureblooded wer they?” her voice was soft, resigned. I tensed uncomfortably.
“What do you mean?” she saw right through me. She always did.
“Draco just- be careful. You know you're father doesn't approve of those people," she chose her words carefully. It was at time like these when Draco wondered if his mother truly believed in blood supremacy. The way she never specifically said it. The way she always mentioned father instead. I nodded.
“I understand. Let’s go home now?" I pleaded asked. She gave me a warm smile.
“Of course sweetheart, let's go home.”

I was silent as we made our way to the book store. A huge man had came picked Harry up, turns out he was a half giant, which totally didn't nearly send him into a panic attack, that'd be ridiculous. I noticed Professor Snape shooting me weird looks. I smile a bit. He was probably wondering while I was talking my head off or complaining.
“Go on, you still gave your list, correct?" He asked in that same bored tone. I was beginning to think it was just a rich British wizard person thing, with the way Draco spoke as well. I thought of how his mom was kinder, more careful with her tone. Maybe Draco just spent too much time with Snape.
“Yeah I got it.” I muttered, turning to glare at the bookshelves. It was total hell. The words were practically swimming off the books entirely, it was as if they were swirling across the room itself. I paused. I could just ask the clerk again.
“Excuse me? Uhm, I need these books for school…” I trailed off awkwardly, the lack of spite causing me to feel a bit self conscious, unlike last time. I handed the clerk the list and they simply gave a me a warm smile.
“Yes of course, did you move recently? You’re not from around here are you,” the clerk asked, well, stated, as he maneuvered around the store, plucking books out of the bookshelves without more than a glance.
“That’ll be a galleon,” he said simply. I gestured Snape to come over, seeing as I had handed him the money pouch back at the previous cafe. The day was much calmer after that. He payed and we left, heading off to stores with random names, we ended up picking out a trunk to put all the stuff in.
“Alright, you’ll need an owl for mail and the sorts. We’ll head there next” Snape said monotonically. I hesitated slightly before following him. Considering my luck and lineage, this probably wouldn’t be a good idea. How would praying to a god work in these times? Would Athena be able to sense his sea-ness or something? I sighed as we arrived to pet shop. This was a bad idea.
I was right. The moment we walked in, every owl in the shop began screeching. I winced, tugging at Severus’s sleeve for us to leave.
“Owls hate me,” I said very casually and I absolutely did not pout. That’s be insane to even consider. Snape glanced at the store where the owls still seemed agitated, them back at me.
“Really? I would’ve never guessed.” He said sarcastically. I resisted the urge to snark back. An idea popped into my head.
“Uh- I need to use the bathroom, where can I find one?”
He let out a long sigh, looking more and more tired by the minute. He pointed over at a sign across the street. I nodded and headed over. Once out of sight, I pulled out the five galleons I had smuggled from the pouch. Using the sink water, I manipulated it to make a mini rainbow in the sunlight. Since I was in the past, Iris messaging probably wouldn’t be free anymore. And galleons were gold right? Hopefully she’d accept them…
"O, Iris, Goddess of the Rainbow, accept my offering, show me Hecate.” I tossed two coins into the rainbow, just in case. Thankfully, the rainbow shimmered and showed Hecate, looking exactly as she had when I had left this morning. What time was it anyway. She gave me a delighted smile.
“I was wondering if you’d figure that out anytime soon! Good job! Anyways I suppose your here on the owl issue, I’ve been watching. While having an owl isn’t necessary, it sure would make communication between us much easier, after all you can’t iris message me whenever you’d like, I’m a goddess. Now, why the owls hate you so much is beyond me… did you piss Athena off in the future or something?”
I decided to not mention the fact that my existence pissed of many gods. “I’m dating her favorite daughter, that might be it.” I said casually, “Do you think praying to her now would work? Said favorite daughter hasn’t been born yet so she shouldn’t be mad at me. Yet.”
Hecate tilted her head curiously. “Well, Athena is incredibly smart, I’m not sure it’s a good idea. She might realize that you’re not who you seem. Then again, gods rarely pay much attention to demigods. She might just ignore you completely.”
That would, be unfortunate. I hummed lightly. In that case it really couldn’t hurt to try right?
“I’ll do it. Is there anything you think she’d like that I can offer?” I asked. She shook her head with a sigh. “Unfortunately not. You seem to be lacking right now,” she said with a sigh, looking me up and down. Well great.
“Alright, well, what’s the worst that can happen?”
“Don’t jinx yourself demigod. I’ll take my leave now. Good luck. You’ll be needing it.”
The iris message cut out. I sighed. Time to pray to my not yet girlfriend’s mom.
