Author's Note
Hey. It's me, JuanWriter, writing the last part of this bittersweet story. The idea just dawned at me during my 2am lonely thoughts and I decided to write this here in AO3. This is my first ever HP fanfiction here in this platform and I'm very pleased on how it reaches readers here. I mostly write on Wattpad that's why.
I know that there might be some questions about why Lucian is still in the portrait even though, I made these question and answer for you guys to understand more:
LUCIAN'S PORTRAIT DIDN'T DISAPPEAR:
In the final chapter, the portrait itself doesn’t disappear entirely; rather, Lucian’s image within it fades significantly, indicating his weakening connection to the physical world. However, Hermione's journey culminates in her acceptance of their situation, and while the portrait remains, Lucian's essence fades away. The key takeaway is that although Lucian's physical presence is lost, their love endures in Hermione's heart, allowing her to find closure and move forward.
LUCIAN'S DRAWING IS STILL THERE:
Lucian's portrait remains on the wall at Hogwarts, with his drawing still visible. While he may fade in terms of his presence or the vibrancy of his image due to the emotional toll of their connection, the portrait itself doesn't disappear entirely. This allows Hermione to retain a piece of him, symbolizing their love and the impact he had on her life, even as she moves forward.
HIS IMAGE CAME BACK?:
The image of Lucian in the portrait can have moments where it flickers or fades, reflecting his emotional connection with Hermione. However, he returns, albeit weaker, allowing for brief interactions. This gives them a bittersweet connection, where the portrait serves as a reminder of their love, even as his presence becomes more fragile over time. Ultimately, while his image may not be as strong as before, it remains as a testament to their bond.
The emotional connection between Hermione and Lucian creates a delicate balance. The more she feels for him, the more it risks his fading presence in the portrait. This adds layers of tension and conflict to their relationship. As Hermione grapples with her feelings, she faces the painful reality that fully embracing their bond could lead to losing him entirely. Lucian's portrait remains at Hogwarts, serving as a poignant reminder of their connection. However, whenever Hermione visits him and their emotional bond deepens, his image flickers or becomes faint. This reflects the idea that their intense feelings for each other are so powerful that they could risk him fading away completely.
And there you have it, some possible questions in mind that you might ponder after reading the story and the explanation behind it...
Hope to see you guys soon on the next fanfics that I'll write here.
Hermione and Lucian, signing off...
