You’re Safe Now - James Potter & fem!reader
“Why can’t you leave me alone?”, you scream at your ex. He grabs your arm roughly and tries to pull you to him, but as he does this you see your dads best friend, James Potter looking over at you from just down the street, and you yell to him, “please help.”
Your ex pulls you closer before you see how he reacts. You’re terrified, but before he can do anything to you, someone grabs you around the waist and you look up to see James looking down at you, “are you alright, darling?”
“This is my ex,” you tell him your ex’s name, hoping he can help.
“Oh,” he turns to your ex and stares straight at him unblinkingly. “Let. Go. Of. My. Girl. If you don’t, you will regret it.”
The moment he lets go, you curl into James’ arms, hugging him as he moves to hug you with one arm and run his fingers through your hair with the other. You had butterflies in your stomach. Being saved like that made you feel loved, safe and protected. Which was definitely much needed after facing your ex.
“Now, leave,” he growls. You don’t see if he does or not, but you know he does when James holds you closer and whispers, “it’s alright. You’re safe now. I’ve got you.”
“Thank you,” you whisper as you cry in his arms, relieved that you didn’t have to face your ex alone.
He kisses the top of your head and asks, “what would make you feel better?”
“I don’t want to be alone,” you tell him quietly.
“I wasn’t planning on leaving,” he whispers back before he kisses the top of your head again. “You’re dad would kill me if I left you alone after that.”
“Can we get ice cream?”
“Yes, of course,” he pulls back and smiles at you. “Come on.” He takes a step back and wiggles his fingers, making you giggle and your heart flutter. You walk beside him and after a few steps, you lift his arm and place it around your shoulders, “thank you for pretending to be my fake boyfriend, James.”
“Anything for you.”
