4th floor bathroom
The Great Hall was super busy at lunch. Marlene sat next to Sirius who was talking to Remus about whatever.
She'd been thinking about the girl, Dorcas Meadows, that she met in her spot the other day. Often finding herself looking for her across the hall or in the corridors. She wasn't at lunch today.
Marlene decided to use her free period after lunch to get her drawing for James done. So after she said goodbye to her friends she headed up to the 4th floor girls bathroom.
Dorcas, it seemed, had the same plans of hiding in this bathroom for her free period.
“It's so funny,” Dorcas said, laughing. “how we have the same places to escape.”
“You're right!” Marlene laughed too.
“How are your OWLs going? None of my friends have to do them until next year I can't wait until they have to suffer too!” She sighed.
“Oh, horrible!” Marlene groaned. “I have so much to do it's not even funny.”
“Okay, it sounds like you need to be distracted!” Dorcas said, a smile on her face.
“And how are you gonna distract me?” She asked shaking her head.
“We'll play a game,” Dorcas smiled again. “We can both tell a story or something about ourselves! To get to know each other better!” She explained.
Marlene considered it. She nodded and turned towards Dorcas, putting her hands in her lap. “Okay yea…Let's do it!”
“Okay good! I'll go first.” She said. “One time, in around third year, me and Pandora charmed all the Ravenclaw boy's clocks to go off at different times everyday, for a week!” She whispered excitedly.
“That was you?! My friend Benjy told me about that!” She exclaimed, “He was so annoyed!” She laughed.
“Then we did what we wanted!” She giggled. “Okay, your turn!” She twirled her hair
What was she supposed to talk about? She wasn't interesting. “I fell into a lake when I was six and almost drowned.” She blurted out, and then immediately turned red.
Luckily, Dorcas found this extremely funny and bursted out laughing, “Why did you say that?!” She said through laughter.
“I-i don't know! I didn't know what else to say!” Marlene was laughing now too.
“Marlene, you're really funny you know that right?” She wasn't laughing anymore, instead staring at Marlene.
“I've been told.” She let out one more breathless laugh, Dorcas grabbed a strand of Marlene's hair and pushed it behind her ear.
And then Dorcas kissed her. It wasn't like kissing Sirius, no it was different…better maybe? Dorcas was leaning over Marlene. And then-
“Oh god… I shouldn't have done that!” Dorcas said shamefully.
“No, it's okay.” Marlene said, dazed at this point. She was seeing Dorcas in a whole new way.
She pulled Dorcas back into a kiss, forgetting completely about Sirius, about what this would do to their relationship, about everything.
And then Dorcas pulled away to catch her breath and it all came back to her, visions of Sirius flooded her mind, dancing in the common room, kissing at parties, hiding from their friends on broom cupboards.
“Oh fuck…” She stood up abruptly. “I can- I'm …fuck I'm sorry Dorcas I have to go.”
She didn't hear if Dorcas called after her, she hoped that she didn't, she just ran. Ran to Gryffindor Tower.
“Marlene!” Sirius tried calling after her but she couldn't face him right now.
What have you done?! She thought to herself. Sirius never would've done this to you!! You're a cheater how could you?!
She was sitting with her chin on her knees, rocking back and forth, spiraling when Mary walked in. Immediate worry washing over her face when she saw Marlene.
“Oh honey, what's happened?” She said with a frowning on her face.
“M-mary…I did something bad!” Tears started rolling down her cheeks as she explained.
