Harry's Conversation with Emma

After spending the day in the library, immersed in the histories of the slave trade and the structure of Arcanum Isle, Harry feels compelled to talk to Emma. He isn't shocked or outraged by what he's learned; instead, he's curious. The norms of this world, while different from his own, don't disturb him as much as they might have in the past. He's beginning to see them as just another way of maintaining order and control—concepts that, after the war in his world, he can appreciate. Harry finds Emma in her usual spot near the Throne Room, the place where she seems to be most at ease. She is standing silently, her gaze lost in the distant landscape visible through the narrow window. Harry approaches her, and she turns slightly, acknowledging his presence with a soft smile.

"Emma," Harry begins, his tone more thoughtful than troubled. "I've been reading about the slave trade here, and about Arcanum Isle. It's... different from what I'm used to, but I can see why it works. The families need a way to maintain control, and this system seems to do that effectively." Emma nods slowly, her expression serene. "Morgana's Seat is indeed a place of power and control, Harry. The systems in place, as harsh as they may seem, were designed to ensure stability. The nine families have maintained their positions for centuries by upholding these practices, and the school prepares the next generation to do the same."

Harry folds his arms, leaning slightly against the stone wall. "Back in my world, we fought a war to stop someone from taking control like this. But here... it's different. There's no one trying to conquer; the families already have their power, and they're just holding onto it. I can understand that. Even the school—training kids to take over, to keep the peace in their own way—it makes sense." Emma watches Harry closely, her eyes reflecting a mix of understanding and curiosity. "You've adapted quickly to our world, Harry. Most outsiders would struggle to accept such practices, but you see the logic behind them. Perhaps it is your experiences in your own world that allow you to understand the necessity of power and control."

Harry nods, considering her words. "The slaves... they're part of the system. I can see why the families rely on them. It's not just about power—it's about keeping things running smoothly. Everyone has a role to play, and for some, that role is servitude. It's not something I would have expected to accept, but here... it just seems like part of the way things work." Emma remains silent for a moment, then speaks softly. "Morgana believed in order, Harry. She created a world where every individual has a place, a purpose. The slaves, while bound by their roles, are part of the balance that Morgana sought to create. It is a harsh system, yes, but one that has ensured the longevity of the families and the stability of Morgana's Seat."

Harry sighs, his expression contemplative. "It's not how we did things back home, but I get it. After everything I've been through, I can see why it works. Maybe it's not perfect, but if it keeps the peace, then who am I to judge? I'm starting to think that being here isn't just about finding a way home. Maybe there's more for me to learn here—about power, control, and what it takes to keep a world like this running." Emma's smile widens slightly, a look of approval in her eyes. "You have a rare understanding, Harry. Many who come here would resist, but you see the necessity behind the practices of this world. There is much you can learn here, if you continue to keep an open mind. And perhaps, in time, you will find your place within this system as well."

Harry straightens up, feeling more confident in his place in this world. "Thanks, Emma. I think I'm starting to get the hang of things here. I'll keep learning, and maybe I'll figure out where I fit into all of this." Emma nods, her voice gentle but firm. "Continue to explore, Harry. Knowledge is power, and in Morgana's Seat, understanding the balance of power is key. Remember, this world has its own rules, its own way of maintaining order. You are beginning to see that, and in time, you may come to appreciate it even more."

With a final nod, Harry turns to leave, feeling more at ease with the knowledge he's gained. Emma watches him go, her expression unreadable, as if she knows there are still many lessons for him to learn, and many challenges yet to come.
