Chapter 1
"Oh," the black-haired teen groaned as he hit his back against the stone wall. He heard a giggle next to him.
"Don't you have anything to say now, Snivelly?" The tall, black-haired gryphon sneered. Tears appeared in the smaller boy's eyes.
"Look Sirius, he's going to cry soon." The other teen, with glasses, laughed.
Severus squeezed his eyes shut, trying with all his might not to let a single tear fall.
He didn't know why these boys were hell-bent on ruining his life. He hadn't done anything to them. And yet, ever since they met on the train, they had acted as if their only goal in life was to make his life hell. He wondered if it was because of that girl on the train. She was nice and Severus thought he had found his first friend, but this gang had made it clear that he shouldn't hang out with her. But even though he kept quiet and focused on his lessons, they continued to tease him.
“Poor little snake, can't even defend himself. Maybe go complain to your mommy.” Sirius Black continued to mock. He was the worst of them all. He seemed to have some kind of obsession with Severus. He hated all Slytherins, especially those who wanted to join Slytherin, but he hated no other student as much as Severus.
‘ Hey, you bastards.’ A female voice spoke up. Severus opened his eyes, looking at the newcomer.
She was older than them. She had a mane of dark hair and light make-up. Bellatrix Balck, the eldest of the Balck sisters.
She held her wand in her hand and twirled it freely in her fingers. The Gryffindors stopped focusing on Severus and focused on the older Slytherin.
“ Gryffindor courage, huh? Four against one.” She sneered.
“ What do you care Bella?” Sirius, the Black sisters' cousin, asked confidently.
"Bellatrix for you, you little bastard." Before any of the boys could realize it, the girl sent several curses at them with a few swipes of her wand, making them writhe in pain.
Severus watched in awe. He didn't even have time to blink when she wordlessly knocked out four Gryffindors. She was really fast.
Slowly and gracefully, like a queen, she moved towards Severus and held out her hand to him.
Severus looked at her suspiciously.
They weren't friends. He didn't have any friends. He didn't come from a famous house either. He wasn't rich. So why would someone like Bellatrix Black help him?
The girl rolled her eyes.
"Come on, I don't bite. We have to go before some professor finds us and accuses us of beating up those bastards." " She said, grabbing Severus by the hand and pulling him towards the castle. Not knowing what else to do, he obediently followed her. In his mind he wondered what she could possibly want from him in return. He had nothing to offer. He could do his homework for his peers, but Bellartrix was in her sixth year, she couldn't expect him to do her homework.
When they were in the castle, a few people glanced at them. After all, they were an odd couple. A strange and lonely first year, ugly and poor Severus and a 16 year old, famous, beautiful, a bit brutal, Bellatrix from the famous and respected house of Black.
But no one dared to say anything directly. After all, it was Bellatrix...
When they reached the Slytherin Common Room, the girl let go of the younger student. She turned to him.
"If anyone asks, you didn't leave the Common Room today, got it?" She asked, and Severus could only nod. The pleased girl began to walk away, leaving a still dazed and slightly scared Severus. He still didn't know what she expected in return for his help. However, before she could completely disappear, he managed to exclaim:
"Th... thanks." He stuttered, catching the girl's attention. Bellatrix turned around and just smiled before walking away. She didn't act like a brutal psychopath at all, as the other students described her.
Severus sighed, and as he looked around, he noticed that the other students in the room were watching him, obviously curious about his interaction with Bellatrix. The young student turned very red in the face and quickly evacuated to his dormitory, which he counted as empty.
