Chapter 1
The first time a dementor came after Harry, he was more focused on the screaming that he heard rather than the tugging sensation the creature caused within him. It wasn’t until later that night while laying in his bed that he realized that his magic didn’t feel as constrained. While he still felt a sluggish sensation whenever he tried a new spell, things seemed to come a little easier to him.
Then the quidditch match happened and it was more than just one dementor that came after him. Even the sounds of his mother’s cries and falling from 100 feet in the air couldn’t take away the popping feeling inside him as if his magic had been released finally. He was also finally able to think a little more clearly after as well.
His patronus lessons just helped this feeling. He knew that the boggart wasn’t a real dementor, and yet it had the same effects as a real one. He was always so clear headed after his lessons with Professor Lupin, and each lesson felt as if something inside of him was being freed.
Now Harry was being swarmed by dementors, and the pain he was in was the worst pain he had felt in his life so far, even worse than being bitten by the basilisk. As a dementor swooped over him, Harry felt a pulling sensation in his scar, as a black smoke floated up into the dementor's mouth. The next attack by the dementors causes a wrenching sensation inside his chest and then everything is happening so fast that he can’t keep track of his surroundings.
Peach and silver scales sweep over his arms and claws grow from his fingers. Wings burst quickly from his back, blood spraying the ground around him. And then he lets out a scream, tearing his chest to pieces and breaking out in a long howl of pain and despair that seemed never ending.
And then Harry was surrounded by people, and wings, and there was someone trying to take him away from Sirius but he couldn’t let them. Something inside him knew that Sirius was his papa, and he couldn’t let the man be hurt too.
Bill
Bill had only just returned from spending almost 2 years with Malachi and his Uncles in Nevarah. He had had any mail forwarded through Gringotts to their Nevarah branch, but luckily there hadn’t been much happening on Earth in the last 6 months that he had been gone in the Realm.
He had told his parents that he would be home this summer, and though he was reluctant, and still rather mad at his mother, he needed to check and see how Percy and the twins were doing after coming into their inheritance. One thing that he was thankful to the Goblins for was their insistence that all employees get full health scans. Without that health check he would never have known that being a blood traitor was actually a taint on your blood, nor would he have known about the seals on his inheritance.
He had had his blood purified and the seals removed shortly after, and was then met by his mentor, and his Uncle Malachi Prewett, the Alpha fire dragel that was mated to his supposed to be dead Uncles Fabian and Gideon. He had taken Charlie to have his seals removed and the blood ritual done on him shortly after he arrived in Romania, where he then inherited as a Gheyo Fire dragel.
He had had Percy and the twins purified while his family was visiting the previous summer, and while the twins would have had their inheritance come in while at school, he thought that it would be better to get it out of the way then, rather than wait for them to finish school. It would settle their instincts more and something was screaming at his instincts that it needed to be done right away. He had learned before he ever even inherited to trust his instincts.
He had just settled in for the night when he felt a strange sensation in his chest. He started rubbing at his chest, when he realized what it meant. He quickly sent a message off and hoped that it would reach his Uncles before letting the sensation sweep him away.
Theo
Theo was in the common room reading one of the books that Ilsa had lent him. It had general information on ranks and elements. It was information that Ilsa had spent the last 5 years since his inheritance drilling into his brain. It didn’t hurt to brush up on though, since he would be spending the summer in Nevarah with Ilsa and her circle.
He was mostly reading it however to block out Draco’s current rant about Potter and his friends. Although tonight it was about how the hippogriff was being executed. Honestly the rants about the hippogriff this year were a great change to the daily rants about Potter that took over the common room daily the last two years.
He didn’t realize that he was rubbing his chest for the last few minutes until Blaise came up to him. Blaise suddenly pulled him up out of his seat and took them to his private room.
Theo could feel the tugging on his soul and right before he let the pull take him said to Blaise, “Call Ilsa.”
Fred and George and Oliver
Fred and George were hiding in Percy and Oliver’s dorm room for the night. It was one of the only places that they felt safe enough to let their instincts through and to let their wings out. It was just Percy and Oliver in the dorm, and as they had found out upon returning to school last September, Oliver was also a dragel. They weren’t surprised that he was an air element, what was a surprise though was his Joker rank. He had inherited early though and had spent enough time in Nevarah to be closer to 20 than the 18 that he was currently passing himself off as at Hogwarts.
Percy was currently grooming Oliver’s wings for him, while talking about his job that he had just been hired for that he would start at the beginning of July. He was joining the Department of International Magical Cooperation. He was hoping that he would be able to help make Britain less strict on things like creatures and different kinds of magic and a big way to do that would be to learn the different laws of the different countries. Percy might have inherited as a Beta rank, but he was honestly hoping to join a circle as an advisor more than as a member of the main triad.
Fred and George were fussing over the 2 others. Percy was allowing it, it made for a change to be fussed over rather than pranked, while Oliver was tolerating it to an extent. As a joker he could only stand so much fussing from Pareya.
Percy was the first to notice the other three in the room rubbing their chests. “Prepare to be ported, I'll call Bill and Charlie,” Percy said, pushing Oliver over to stand next to the twins.
Neville
Neville was out wandering the castle, once again, trying to keep trouble away from Harry and Hermione. If Harry had any idea how many times Neville followed him out on his nightly wanderings, Neville had no doubt that Harry would be mad at him.
Tonight however felt different. He had been approached at dinner by Luna, another person that he often say walking the castle on nights that Harry was out, who had told him to be ready at the clock tower at 9 p.m. She said that they would be needed. So here he was, walking towards the forest, once again, for Harry, while Luna explained that Harry was going to give a soul scream tonight. And didn’t that just shock Neville more silent than usual, Harry wasn’t unattainable afterall, he was a Dragel, which would be perfect for Neville’s Dryad and Dragel heritage.
It was as he started to feel the pull that Luna said the most shocking thing of the night so far though and that was, “Help him protect his father.”
Luna
Even though they were the closest to Harry, herself and Neville were the last 2 pulled in by the soul scream, by virtue of being consorts rather than having a rank already.
Luna had known that Harry was powerful, and that he would have a large circle, but even she was unprepared for the number of people that showed up at his call. Including herself there were 23 people called, and somehow she knew that this wasn’t all of Harry’s soul bonded. More would come as he aged.
Now she just had to help Harry realize that all these people being called to him was a good thing, and not as overwhelming as Luna knew he was going to think. Luckily she had started laying the groundwork on helping his self esteem at the end of last year, after he had faced the Basilisk. As much as her visions were sometimes a burden she would never again disparage them for they brought her one of the most true friends that she would ever have in Harry Potter.
