Chapter 1
Hermione sat in Ginny’s room at the Burrow. She was surrounded by information that she had gathered after taking a trip to muggle London’s library. She knew for a very long time, that she wasn’t completely a Granger. It was later confirmed after a trip to Gringotts after the war during an inheritance test. Her mother was a woman named Brooke Davis, her father a man called Julian Baker. She also apparently had two brothers that were twins, Davis and Jude. She read through every article she could on her parents. Her mother was a fashion designer, her father was a movie producer. She can remember Lavender having a BDavis Magazine in the dorms at Hogwarts mixed in with Witch Weekly. Looking through the movies her father had produced and created, she also had seen the one with Alex Dupre.
“Love?” A knock on the door brought her out of her thoughts, as it opened to reveal her beloved fiancé. “You alright?”
Hermione sighed. “I’m reading through everything.”
”On your biological parents?” He asked, moving to sit beside her and wrapping his arms around her waist and leaning his head forward to rest on her shoulder.
”Yeah. They’re actually pretty famous in the muggle world.” She whispered.
”When do you want to go?” He asked, pressing a comforting kiss to her cheek.
”This weekend. Kingsley had it arranged today when I went to the library.” She explained. She paused setting the paper down to look at him. “Will you go with me?” She whispered quietly.
Fred adjusted his grip, turning her and adjusting her to sit on his lap. “Of course. I’m not going to let you go off on another one of your little adventures without me.” He used one of his hands to cup her cheek. “You’re stuck with me.” He pressed a gentle kiss to her lips.
She pulled away, sighing and resting her head onto his shoulder. “What if-“ she stopped to lick her lips nervously. “What if they don’t-“
”I’m going to stop you right there, Mine.” Fred interrupted. “They’re going to love you.”
“I’m not into all that makeup, and fashion stuff that they are.” She whispered.
”Hermione you just won a war. If they don’t appreciate you, you don’t really owe them anything.” Fred whispered. “I know it’s a little harsh, but you don’t owe them anything. You’re an amazing witch, the fiercest person I know. You’re protective of everyone, but yourself. And that’s where I balance you out. I am protective of you. If they don’t like you for who you are, my amazingly, stubborn, fierce, fiancé; I get to tell them to shove off.”
That got a laugh from her, as she squeezed Fred tightly. “I love you.” She whispered.
”I love you too, Mine.” He whispered back. “Now, tell me about these people that have you life.”
So she did. She told him what she had found from the articles. And that she had ordered a book called An Unkindness of Ravens. It should be here later today by owl.
“Why the book?”
”Aparently it tells the story of Brooke through high school and her friends. It’s written from the author, Lucas Scott’s, perspective.” She explained softly.
”So, three days until we go. What all do we need before then?” Fred asked.
”treat it like a vacation.” Hermione stated.
”With the strange family discovery we’re going to do.”
She nodded, flicking her wrist and watching as the papers gathered themselves into a neat pile onto the bedside table. They sat in the floor, both content to just be. After a while, they went down for dinner. That night, Hermione snuck into Fred’s bed after Molly had headed to hers. She knew it was going to come sooner rather than later, and she couldn’t be more nervous. But with Fred’s arms wrapped around her, she felt safer, calmer. Yet, she knew she was still skeletal from her time on the run. She had so many scars. And she was a witch on top of that. She wasn’t sure how all of this would go down.
