Creature inheritances, shocking news, and explanations
The Dursleys had found out about Nightshade when the snake had tried to bite Dudley for shoving him. She hadn't meant harm from it, but it had only ended in him getting punished. Vernon had used knives and belts and probably would have killed him. Harry thought he HAD killed him. Yet the boy woke up after what he knew was only hours later, his entire body screaming in pain. His eyes flicker open and he bites back a whimper. He thought he was wearing his glasses, but no, Vernon had shattered them. So how could he see perfectly? It doesn't make sense! Well, actually, now that he knew about magic, it probably did but still. He drags himself to the bathroom, biting back noises all the while. He couldn't make a sound. If he did, he could wake Vernon and Petunia. Then he would really be killed for sure. He lies there on the cool tile of the bathroom for a moment, letting out silent gasps of air, eyes screwed shut. After a long moment, the pain ebbed enough for him to move more freely, and he uses both the tub and toilet to help work himself into a sitting position. There was a strange weight on his back that made it harder, and all his senses seemed way too intense.
Slowly, painfully, he stands. His legs tremble, and he wobbles, vision blurring as he stumbles. He catches himself on the edge of the sink, breathing heavily as he lets the pain calm and vision return. After a moment's hesitation, he looks into the mirror and nearly falls again in shock. He could barely recognize himself. He was taller, and his skin had turned into a more ivory color than its typical tan. His hair was longer too, and darker. Now more of an inky black, falling around his shoulders reminiscent of a wolf-cut. His eyes were a more acid green now, with flecks of blood red and black scattered throughout the iris. There was a purple ring around his distinctly more bird like pupils. He has more muscles now as well, though perhaps there were more shocking changes. Like the fangs he could feel poking at his bottom lip, or the small black scales under his eyes. Or perhaps the black horns tipped in green coming off the top of his head were it. No, most certainly it was the wolf's ears on a constant swivel, the massive feathery wings on his back, and the tail he could feel behind him, swaying slowly.
The ears were large and soft, covered in fur that matches his hair. The wings were massive ebony things, feathers soft as silk and longest towards the middle of the wing, tipped in green with an iridescent purple sheen. His tail was like a cross of wolf and dragon, smooth scales hidden beneath long fur, coiling long and prehensile, with a plume of fur at the end hiding a sharp blade like a stinger. Harry found that there were also feathers scattered throughout his hair here and there, and that they were very sensitive. Giving him an added awareness of certain things. Oh, he really needs to get out of here. Aunt Petunia and uncle Vernon will surely kill him now if they see this. They already hated him for his magic. They'll kill him for this. He stumbles back into the cupboard, only to find a letter sitting innocently on the shelf. He fumbles with it for a moment before getting it open. He held his breath as he read it, since it had to be something magic to have randomly appeared there.
Dear Mr Potter,
It seems you have come into a creature inheritance alarmingly early. We would like you to come to gringotts as soon as you can to discuss this, and some withdrawals from your family vault. As we know, not all people have an easy way to get to gringotts, so this letter works as a portkey. When you are ready, have a firm hold on anything you are taking with you and say "Inheritance". The portkey will bring you here. Once you have arrived hand a goblin this letter and ask for Griphook.
Sincerely,
Grapclaw
Harry curses as he hears the telltale thuds of his uncle Vernon getting up to go to the bathroom. He needs to get out of here. NOW. He quietly hurries from the cupboard, letter clutched tight. He snags one of Uncle Vernon's large old suitcases with the handle and wheels, going into the kitchen and packing away as much food as he can that won't go bad soon or without being cold. Bread, peanut butter, jelly, ramen, anything and everything he could grab that wouldn't go bad. Then he sneaks upstairs, forever grateful that Vernon takes forever in the bathroom and Petunia sleeps like the dead. He empties the safe full of money and takes all of Petunia's jewelry. Was he being petty? Absolutely, but did he care? Not one bit. They deserved it for how they treat him. He slips back downstairs as quiet as possible with the suitcase, getting out the door without a hitch. Then he finds Nightshade hidden in the garden. With a firm hold on both suitcase and snake, he grips the letter, and- "Inheritance!" -vanishes in a swirl of color and a pop.
He nearly falls over when the portkey drops him, his new wings instinctively flaring to steady him. After taking a moment to catch his balance, he folds his wings and looks around with wide eyes. Gringotts was huge! He scans the room, taking in all the polished marble and almost Greek-like architecture. He loved it. Mythology was always one of his favorite things to read about. A man almost bumps into him, and he snaps out of his daze, tucking his wings in and hurrying over to one goblin with no one in front of them at the moment. Hesitantly, he places the letter on the desk, and when the goblin leans over it to look down at him, he shuffles his feet. "I-it said I should ask f-for Griphook....?" He asks the creature, who looks at the letter before grunting. "Follow me, and keep up." It says, hopping down from its seat and walking off. Harry hurries to follow, not wanting to be left behind. The goblin leads him down a long hallway, until they reach a door with a golden plague on it with the name: Griphook, in big bold letters. The goblin opens the door, and Harry nervously walks inside, jumping when the door slams shut behind him.
The goblin behind the desk gestures to the chair before him. "Take a seat Mr. Potter." Harry shuffles over and sits down, suddenly extremely nervous, clutching the handle of his suitcase tight. "I've asked you here because you came into your creature inheritance quite early. Normally, this only happens when someone is in dire situations, Mr. Potter." Harry cringes, hands wringing the handle nervously. "Now," the goblin continues, placing two sheets of paper and a dagger on the desk. "If you would drop seven drops of blood on the first paper, and three on the second, we can see your inheritance along with any properties or vaults you own." Harry swallows thickly, picking up the dagger and shakily nicking his finger, counting out the drops and putting down the dagger when the cut heals itself. Words spill over the pages, and a third page appears, also filling with words. Harry gulps. That doesn't seem good. Not good at all. Griphook taps the pages once the words stop, ending the magic, and Harry picks up the first page with trembling hands.

Harry, or more Hadrian, put the page down in shock. "I-I'm not really a Potter...? I-I have parents....? Actual living parents...?" Griphook's face softens. "Would you like me to contact them...?" He swallows thickly and shakes his head. "Not..... Not right now.... is it ok if I wait a day or two...? I... I don't want to meet them looking like this....." He says helplessly. Griphook nods. "That is perfectly fine Mr. Pot- ah Mr. Riddle." Hadrian nods and carefully picks up the second page.

Hadrian set the paper down, stunned, but also confused. "Why do these say blocked?" He asks, pointing at the vaults. Griphook looks at the paper and frowns. "It would seem your magical guardian has cut off your access to most of your vaults, and limited what you can take from the potter's trust fund." Hadrian frowns. "Magical guardian? What do you mean? The only 'guardians' I've had the passed eleven years have been my- I mean, Lilly potter's sister and her family." Griphook scowls, claws tapping on the desk. "So you received nothing from your magical guardian? None of the money they withdrew made it to you?" Hadrian shakes his head, hands clenching into fists. His supposed guardian had been stealing from him! Nightshade hisses in anger. "Well, would you like to get your money back?" Griphook asks, and Hadrian nods. "With interest. He says firmly, grabbing the third and final page.

Hadrian dropped the paper like it had burned him. "Is there any way to remove all these?" He asks desperately. Griphook nods, growling. "Yes, we will remove them immediately, and then we can emancipate you so Dumbledore can't control you. You will claim your lordships and heirships, then we will go from there. Yes?" Hadrian nods quickly. "Just get that stuff off me!" Griphook calls in several other goblins and turns to Hadrian. "This will hurt, likely a lot, due to how long these spells and blocks have been on you." Hadrian nods. "Do it. I'm no stranger to pain." He says grimly. Griphook nods and the goblins start to chant. Hadrian clenches his eyes shut, clawed fingers sinking into the chair as he bites back a scream. What feels like hours but can't have been over twenty minutes passes, and Hadrian is sweating bullets, deathly pale by the time the goblins stop. The goblins even look exhausted, staggering out of the room. Griphook sighs in relief.,"All spells and blocks have been removed. Would you like to claim your lordships and heirships?"
Hadrian nods tiredly, and with a snap of the goblin's fingers, several boxes appear on the desk. Griphook opens them, revealing several rings of all sizes, shapes and styles, though the presumed Lordship rings were much more fancy. "you put them on your left hand, middle finger, for the lordships, right hand pointer finger for your heirships. The rings will merge and show whichever ring you wish." Hadrian sits forward, slowly putting on each ring, and setting the Lord ring to Potter since that people would expect, and the heir ring to Snape, since it was probably a bad idea to have it be Riddle. He pets nightshade, soothing the snake's worried hissing. "There you are, now. I would like you to take this. And these books they will tell you about your creatures. " The goblin places a pouch on the table along with three thick books. "It is linked directly to your vaults, and only you can use it unless you give another express permission to do so. Once you leave here, follow the traffic of people out of Diagon alley, until you see a place called Olivanders. There, ask a random adult, preferably a mother, to show you where the leaky cauldron is. Talk to Tom, he can get you a room to sleep in. May your enemies fall dead at your feet, Mr. Riddle." Hadrian takes the pouch and books, offering the goblin a weak smile. "Thank you....." He pauses, trying to think of something to say back to the goblin in response to the last comment. "Ah, and may your vaults always be full?" He tries, Griphook smiles and nods at him. He lets out a sigh of relief and slowly walks out of the bank.
The Malfoys had finally headed to gringotts so Draco could claim the Malfoy heirship and they could see if any recessive inheritance had popped up. Draco was still exhausted from getting his inheritance two days ago and was anxious about his mate. But at least he had felt no pain from them since they got their creature inheritance. Hopefully, they got away from whatever horrible place they had been in. All he wants to do is find his mate and curl up with them to sleep for a week. Which makes sense. His mother was an ice wolf and wolves were very affectionate creatures. He keeps his wings folded close as they enter Gringotts, not wanting to bump anyone. They approached a goblin who wasn't busy. "We would like to speak with Griphook please." Lucius says, every bit the cold, aloof pureblood the public thinks him to be. The goblin nods, and leads them down a hallway until they reach a door with a golden plague, Griphook, in big bold letters.
The goblin gestures for them to take a seat, and Draco sinks down into one of the chairs with a grateful sigh. "I'm assuming it will be just the creature inheritance test for you today...?" Griphook asks, pulling out the dagger and paper as Narcissa nods. The goblin places the dagger and paper in front of Draco. "Seven drops please." He requests. As Draco cuts his finger and starts counting out the drops, the goblin continues talking with Narcissa. "You know, there was a boy around young Malfoy's age here two days ago for his inheritance as well." He hums, and Draco drops the dagger with a clatter, staring at the goblin with wide eyes. "There was?! What was he like?! Did he have black hair and green eyes?!" He asks desperately. Griphook recoils slightly in shock. "Well yes, he did. He sat in the very chair you're in. Poor boy had so many blocks and compulsions on him its a wonder he could do any magic or think for himself at all. We removed all of them of course" While this was all going on, Lucius was reading Draco's results. Narcissa was better with social situations and emotions.
Name: Draco Lucius Malfoy

Creature inheritance: Crystal dragon (father, Ice wolf (mother, possible angel (grandfather, to be awakened)
Mate:??? (dominant)
Powers: wolf speak, Parseltongue, crystal manipulation/creation, Ice manipulation/creation, slight weather manipulation, wandless magic, wordless magic, magic sight, ice breath, cold immunity, fire immunity
Possible angelic powers: Healing, blessings, soul sight, pass judgement, divine powers
Forms: Standard, ice wolf, crystal dragon, angel (possibly), ice wolf/crystal dragon, ice wolf/angel (possibly, crystal dragon/angel (possibly), ice wolf/crystal dragon/angel (possibly)
In the end all Narcissa and Draco had gotten out of the goblin was that the boy was going to Hogwarts this year, and what his creatures were. Draco was convinced the boy was his mate. Same age and getting their inheritance on the same day? It was too much of a coincidence. So the Malfoy's head back home, and Lucius pulls out four books. One about submissives, one about ice wolves, one about crystal dragons, and one about angels. It was time for Draco to get busy reading.
The demigods, or- demiwitches and demiwizards now?, quickly left camp. Heading off towards Percy's house. Normally they would be attracting monsters like crazy, but most monsters knew better than to bother them by now. At least the ones around here did. Percy knocks of the door, and Sally opens it after a moment, looking surprised. "Oh! Percy, and friends. what are you doing here? shouldn't you be at camp?" They all share a look. "Hecate chowed up. sh said you could explain some things." Nico says, Will clutching his hand. "All of you....?" Sally says slowly, before shaking her head and opening the door. "Come inside, make yourself comfortable." They all file into the living room and settle in. Sally sets down in an armchair and takes a deep breath. "So, all of you have have wizarding heritage and she said you have magic?" They nod. "SO she was telling the truth? You're a witch?" Percy asks, and Sally nods. "I am. I went to Ilvormorning. A magic school here in America. Is Hecate taking care of where you're all going to school?"
Leo nods. "She said she was sending us to Hogwarts?" Sally nods. "Hogwarts is the best magic school in the world. it resides in the Scottish Highlands. but don't worry, they have spells all over campus that act as automatic translators." They nod, and Will perks up. "May you tell us more about the classes and stuff there? Or what to expect as witches and wizards?" Sally smiles softly. "Well, normally kids start at 11. and there are seven years at Hogwarts. Everyone is sorted into four houses that best fit your personality. Griffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. The main classes are Herbology, Charms, Transfiguration, and Potions. Each one of those teachers is a head of one of the houses. You can win or lose points for your house to win the house cup. There is also a sport called quittiage. Each house has a team, if your team wins the most matches you win the quidditch cup." They murmur to each other. several of them thought that sounded interesting.
"You will all need wands, and several other school supplies. The headmaster is named Albus Dumbledore. I warn you not to trust this man. There are some very dark things in his past and I don't want you to get hurt. There are also things called a 'Creature Inheritance' in the wizarding world. Percy, my family also has a history of these. It is likely Hecate has been holding yours back. The rest of yours too if you all happen to have any since they tend to come early if your close to death. Gods know how many times that's happened to you all. It's likely she will stop doing so tonight. With a creature inheritance comes a lot of things. Like new powers and stronger senses. But most importantly every last person with a creature inheritance has a Mate who also has one." They all stare. "You mean mate as in...soulmate....?" Reyna asks, Percy buts in. "Mom, what exact creatures do you mean your family has a history of?" Sally nods at Reyna's question. "Yes, like soulmates. My family typically have Sea Serpents or Kelpies for their creature inheritance. Sometimes even both. I have a Kelpie creature inheritance, and I use a thing called a 'glamour' to appear normal."
Percy stares, stunned. "So you mean to tell me, that me, a son of Poseidon, is literally going to grow actual gills?!" The others break out cackling at the irony. Sally chuckles. "It is a possibility yes." Frank looks at her. "Can you remove your glamour so we have an idea of what to expect once we get our inheritance?" Sally nods and pulls out a slim light brown wand. With a simple wave of it the spell drops, and the teens mouths drop open. Her sclrea (the white part of your eye) were dark black, and perpetually healthy kelp was scattered amongst her hair. Horse ears rest stop her head, and a long kelp horse tail swayed behind her. Her fingertips were black and sharp like claws. Gills flutter at her neck, and soft greenish swirling marks traveled up her arms. "Whoa...." Hazel murmurs. "Damn....." Piper says..... "Awesome!" Leo shouts, making Sally laugh. Exposing sharp carnivorous horse teeth. "Yeah, it's pretty cool huh? It's getting late though, you should all get some rest." They nod and Percy excuses himself to the bathroom.
(Body checking starts now, just a warning. It's brief, but as someone who suffered from stuff like this myself I just wanted to warn)
Percy stares at himself in the mirror for several minutes. Going over every inch. Pulling at his hair and skin. Pressing at the bags under his eyes and the slight extra fat around his hips. He swallows a helpless sob as he scratches uselessly at his chest and scrubs harshly at his lingering baby fat on his cheeks. At the freckles refusing to fade. "Is this why she left me....?" He wraps his arms around himself, nails digging into his shoulder blades. "This.... none of this feels right..... Its all wrong. Its not perfect. It should be different. It's too big" He mutters helplessly to himself, pressing at his chest. "Too wide" He says, clawing at his hips. "Not right.... it feels wrong." He whimpers, and sits there crying for a little bit. After he pulls himself together and hides his tear stains he heads back out to help the others make a big blanket nest to pile up together.
