Weasley Brothers Breakfast

“You’ll never guess who turned up at the Ministry last night,” Ron said, sliding into a seat next to his best friend.

“Who?” Harry yawned. He’d done an all-nighter on surveillance but had stopped by for the weekly breakfast gathering with his brothers-in-law.

“Molly’s coach. The MLEs picked him up for Muggle brawling in a pub in Falmouth. Well, outside the pub, apparently. All banged up, black eye and dripping blood. I called Molly to come pick him up so the team could keep it quiet.”

“Nice one,” said George approvingly. “I’ve got thirty Galleons riding against Perry that the Prides would defeat the Falcons today. Wouldn’t want the coach arrested before I can collect my winnings from my dear old son-in-law.”

Percy blinked at Ron owlishly. “You had Molly pick him up?”

Ron nodded, totally oblivious to Percy’s expression. “Yeah. Oh and I like her new hairdo, Perce.”

“I haven’t seen it yet,” Percy said stiffly. “So her coach was having fisticuffs in the pub, was he?”

“Yeah. Dunno what that was about, they didn’t catch the other blokes. Scarpered before the MLEs could grab them. But for two on one, he seems to have come out okay. Tough bloke.” Ron lost interest in this, ready for the more important reveal. Percy had just opened his mouth to question him further when Ron whipped a photo out of his pocket. “And then Rose turned up. You have to see this.”

While Harry, Ron, and George chortled over the photo of Ron’s daughter Rose, Percy was still frowning in thought about Riordan Fitzroy.

Molly in tears was an unusual sight. His daughter hadn’t been prone to crying even as a little girl, but Fitzroy had managed to set her to sobbing. Percy wished he’d had a chance to see the black eye and blood. He hadn’t told his brothers about Molly’s relationship with her coach, and wasn’t sure he should tell them now. Possibly when he got Bill alone, they could discuss it. Or he’d go see his sister for some perspective. The other two idiots…

Ron shoved the photo under his nose, and Percy chuckled despite himself at the sight of his niece, looking rather disgruntled and coated head to toe in treacle. “How on earth did she do that to herself?”

“Parmenter, I’d bet,” Harry said, still grinning. “Rose’s worst escapades are always Pyxis Parmenter.”

“Except the bloke who was covered in bees, that wasn’t Parmenter that time.” Ron said, then added, “This was Parmenter, he was covered in treacle too. We had to hose off the cell after he bailed out.”

“I bet Facilities went ballistic over the mess in the Atrium,” George chuckled. “Only Rose, honestly…”

Rose was always an adventure, Percy reflected.

“I’m framing this,” said Ron, waving the photo at them again. “Going in my office. I might have it enlarged, actually. Feels like it ought to be poster-sized, don’t you think?”
