See you soon!
Harry walked through the corridors alone. He heard some students whispering and looking at him as if he couldn’t notice what was going on. Everyone was talking about what had happened in class. He wished he would’ve been stronger, he wished he would’ve casted the spell immediately so the others wouldn’t have seen his boggart, but he didn’t.
He walked with his hands curled into fists, his knuckles turning white. He didn’t know how he was going to handle his friends or his classmates, all of them must have been shocked when they saw his boggart. Damn it.
How was he going to handle Draco? Draco saw everything. What was he going to say? Was he supposed to apologise?
He was so caught between his own thoughts when a hand grabbed his elbow and pulled him into an old empty room.
Draco.
It was Draco. What was he going to do now?
Draco closed the door and casted a locking charm on it. He turned to face Harry slowly, as if he feared him or something. They stared at each other, none of them knowing what to say or how to break the silence.
Harry started.
“Draco, I’m so sorry—”
“Was it true?” Draco asked.
“—What?” Harry frowned.
“Your boggart.” Draco stepped closer. “Was it true?”
“I- yes?”
Draco looked hurt. “Why? Why are you afraid of me?” He whispered, stepping back.
Harry tilted his head, he gave Draco a puzzled look before he understood everything. Draco thought he was his biggest fear, not his… death. Him.
“I’m not afraid of you, Draco.” Harry rushed to say. “Not you, your death… that’s what I fear the most.” Harry stepped closer, holding Draco’s hands on his.
“Really?”
“Of course. Why would I be afraid of you?”
Draco sighed. “I- I don’t know. I thought… you were ashamed of me… maybe. You- You were afraid of people knowing about us, that I might hurt you.”
Harry shook his head. “That’s nonsense. Don’t you dare think that, I will never be ashamed of you. I love being with you.”
“But… how can my death be your biggest fear?”
Harry chuckled. “It’s really simple.” He drew circles with his thumb against Draco’s palm. “When you care so much for someone that you can’t live without them. I don’t want to be in a world where you are dead, I really can’t.”
Draco’s eyes watered. He hugged Harry with all the strength he had. Harry hugged him back, tightening his grip around him.
“That’s the sweetest thing someone has ever said to me.” Draco sniffed.
“Yeah… turns out I’m a poetic soul.”
Draco scoffed. “Of course you are.”
Harry pushed him away. “Hey!”
“I didn’t say anything!” Draco said, raising his hand in the air.
Harry rolled his eyes. “Come here, you big idiot.”
Harry grabbed his waist, pulling him closer and pressing his lips against Draco’s. Draco kissed him back, just as passionate as Harry. Their lips moving as if they were meant to be together.
Harry would never get tired of this feeling.
*
Days turned into weeks, weeks turned into months. Draco and Harry grew more attached to each other, they spent everyday together. Nothing and no one could ever separate them.
Harry’s Gryffindor ‘friends’ kept talking shit about Draco. Fortunately, nothing turned into something physical, just stupid insults and bad jokes. Harry knew he should’ve stopped it, but with everything that was going on with Sirius Black he had no time left to even worry about it.
“I can’t believe you, Harry!” Draco said. “You disarmed Professor Snape, you helped Sirius Black to escape, you casted an Expecto Patronum against — what? — one hundred dementors? Even more? Professor Lupin is a werewolf and— and you used a time turner? All of that in one day?” He said in disbelief.
Harry flushed in embarrassment. “Yes?” He said hesitantly.
Draco scoffed. “You risked your life in several ways and all you have to say is ‘yes’?!”
“Er… sorry?”
“You are mental.” He chuckled.
Harry smiled weakly. He kept thinking about Sirius… if he was safe, if the Ministry was looking for him. He remembered the escape of wormtail, that bastard who betrayed his parents… they were dead because of him. It was all his fault.
Draco noticed Harry’s change of attitude. “Hey… are you okay?” He wrapped his arms around the boy.
Harry sighed. “Yeah… just a bit sad, you know? I found out that my parents were betrayed by his friend. They died because of him… it’s wormtail’s fault.”
“Wormtail?”
“Peter Pettigrew. He was my father’s friend. They had a group called the Marauders, all of them were animagus to support Remus Lupin, because he was a werewolf. Remus, Peter, Sirius and James; known as Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs.”
“Oh.” Draco said, while he stroked Harry’s curls with his fingers. “I am so sorry, Harry. That’s very sad.”
“Yeah… it is.” Harry sniffed.
“I’m sorry… But now everything will get better… I know. At least now you know the truth.”
“You’re right. At least I know Sirius is not guilty.” Harry smiled at the thought. “Did you know that he is my godfather?”
Draco’s eyebrows raised in surprise. “Really?”
“Yes. My parents made him my godfather before they died.” He chuckled. “He even said I could live with him once classes are over.”
“That’s wonderful, Harry. I’m really happy for you.”
Harry smiled. “I can’t believe there’s only one week left before we leave Hogwarts.”
Draco sighed. “Yeah… me neither. I can’t wait to go back home.” He said sarcastically.
“You don’t want to come with me?” Harry asked.
“I wish I could, but that’s impossible, Harry. We both know it.”
“You’re right… I’m sorry.”
Draco lifted Harry’s chin. “Not you fault.” He pressed his lips against Harry’s to give him a soft kiss.
“I am going to miss you.”
“I’ll miss you too, Harry. So much…”
“You’ll be okay?” Harry asked concerned.
“I… I don’t know.”
“That doesn’t help. How could I be relaxed if I know you are in danger?”
Draco kept stroking Harry’s hair with his delicate fingers. “I don’t know, but there’s nothing we can do.”
Harry’s eyes watered. “I just feel so useless….”
“Please, don’t say that.” Draco turned to hold Harry in a tight embrace. “You are not useless.”
Harry sniffed. “But I am… then why do I feel like I’m not doing anything to help you? I’m not doing anything.”
“You are helping, you’re helping more than you could ever imagine.”
“Don’t lie.” He let out a sob.
“I’m not lying. You are helping me in many different ways. You keep me sane, you keep me alive. Every time I have a bad day you always find the way to cheer me up. You make me happy, Harry. That’s more than I could ever ask for.”
“I want you to be safe… I’m worried about you…”
“Don’t worry. Please, just try to not think about it… it’s just my father who practically wants to kill me and it’s related with the Dark Arts, how bad can it be?” He chuckled.
Harry glared at him.
Draco kissed his forehead. “Okay, not funny… sorry.”
Harry chuckled. “Definitely not funny.”
“I know exactly what might cheer you up.” Draco smirked.
“Yeah?” Harry raised an eyebrow. “And what is it?”
Draco offered a hand to Harry so he could stand up. “Quidditch!”
“Really?” Harry’s eyes widened.
“Yes! It’s been a while since we don’t play. What do you think? Seeker vs seeker?”
“Let’s do it.”
They got to the Quidditch pitch just before the sunset began. They grabbed the brooms that were in the lockers and a snitch that was there as well.
They changed into their uniforms. Gryffindor and Slytherin.
“You look so good in your Quidditch uniform.” Harry said.
Draco flushed and looked down at himself. “You think?”
Harry bit his lip and nodded.
Draco chuckled. “Drool is all over your chin. Nasty.”
“Ready to play, Draco?”
They were in their positions.
“I was born ready, Harry.” He smirked.
Harry scoffed. “What do I win if you lose?”
“Hmmm. Whatever you want.”
“Anything?” Harry raised an eyebrow.
“Anything.”
The Snitch was in the air and they immediately flew away to try to catch it. The flew around the pitch for a very long time, but the snitch was nowhere to be seen. They were getting a little tired.
“Okay… not to be negative or something, but I think none of us will catch the snitch.” Draco said.
Harry looked around and, indeed, the snitch was nowhere to be seen. “What do we call it then? A tie?”
Draco shrugged. “I guess.”
Draco started to fly to the ground when he saw Harry’s face lightened up.
“What is it?” He asked.
“Nothing.” Harry smirked.
“What is going on?” He turned around to see the golden snitch a few feet behind him. “Oh don’t you dare Harry Potter!”
Harry flew past him with such speed that almost made Draco fall off his broom. He followed Harry around the pitch.
Harry was very close to catching the snitch, but Draco was close too. Harry’s fingers were almost brushing the snitch, but Draco kept making it difficult to catch.
Nobody knows how, but they ended up flying very high. Literally flying between clouds, they could barely see the snitch anymore. They kept pushing each other while they laughed, adrenaline flew in their blood, both of them wanted to win.
Harry pushed Draco one more time, but this time a bit stronger. Harry finally caught the snitch, but when he turned around Draco wasn’t behind him.
Harry panicked immediately and dove into the ground, as he descended he saw Draco falling, his broom nowhere to be seen.
“DRACO!” He yelled and flew as fast as he could to catch the boy before he reached the ground.
“HARRY!!” Draco yelled back.
Fortunately, Harry was a very good Quidditch player, and thanks to his talent in a broom he was able to catch Draco before he hit the ground.
He hugged the boy tightly once they were in the ground. “Oh my God, I’m so sorry!” He said between shaky breaths.
“It’s okay.”
“No! It’s not okay! You could’ve died. I could’ve killed you! I was so stupid. What was I thinking? I should’ve never pushed you. Please, forgive me. I’m very sorry, Draco.”
“Hey, look at me! It’s okay. There’s no problem.”
Harry was still panting. “How- How can you say that? I nearly killed you. It was my fault you fell off your broom. How could I’ve been so immature?”
“Harry, we were playing. It was an accident! Besides, I’m the one who lost balance, and I started the pushing game, not you. In any case, it was my fault.”
“No. No, no, no.” Harry shook his head.
“It’s fine. I’m fine. Nothing happened.” Draco hugged him. “See? Can you feel me? I’m right here. Everything’s fine. I forgive you.”
“I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay. Shh. It’s okay.” He whispered.
They held each other for a while until Harry calmed down. Once he was calm and sleepy they went back into the castle.
“Harry, you have to take a bath before you sleep!”
Harry groaned. “I don’t want to! I’m tired.”
“And dirty, you have to do it. Go to the bathroom. The sooner you start the sooner you’ll finish.”
Harry rolled his eyes. “Fine.”
“Don’t hate me for this. It’s for your own good!”
Harry slammed the door. Then, he felt guilty. He opened the door a bit. “Sorry.”
“It’s alright.”
“You won’t sleep, right?”
Draco shook his head. “Nope. I’m dirty as well, I have to wait until you finish.” He smiled.
“Okay. Sorry.” He grinned.
“Finish quickly!”
Harry chuckled and closed the door.
Once they both finished and put their pyjamas on they went to the same bed. Draco was giving Harry his back when Harry wrapped his arm around Draco’s waist, pulling him closer.
He rested his chin on top of Draco’s shoulder. His nose was smelling Draco’s shampoo and tickling Draco in his neck.
Draco laughed. “Stop tickling me!”
“Am I tickling you?” Harry moved his nose against Draco’s neck and chuckled.
“You are! My skin is sensitive there.”
“Really?”
“Yes, now stop making fun of me.”
Harry placed his chin on Draco’s shoulder again.
“And do NOT tickle me again!” Draco warned him.
Harry laughed. It was right there, in that moment, when he knew that he loved Draco. Draco was his whole life, he couldn’t be happier. Being around Draco made his heart skip a beat and it cheered him up. Draco was the reason he had a smile on his face every day. He loves Draco.
He had fallen badly for him.
*
“I’ll miss you.” Draco said.
“I’ll miss you more. You have no idea… promise you will write to me.”
“I’ll write to you. I promise.”
Hermione interrupted them. “I’m sorry for bothering you, but… Harry we have to go.”
Harry nodded and turned to look at Draco.
“I-” Harry cut him off when he hugged him tightly.
“Try to be safe.” Harry said.
“I’ll try. You too… don’t do anything stupid and put your life in danger.”
“Stupid? How could I? You’re taking all the stupid with you.”
Draco ruffled his brown hair. “How dare you!” He acted offended, but a crooked smile grew on his face.
“Just take care.” Harry said. “Please.”
“Harry…” Hermione said.
“Okay.” He looked at Draco. “I really wish I could kiss you.”
Draco flushed. “Yeah… me too.”
Harry stepped closer.
“Harry?” Draco frowned.
“A kiss on the cheek won’t hurt.” He kissed Draco on the cheek quickly. So fast Draco didn’t even feel it at all.
“See you soon.” Draco said. “Don’t forget about me.” He teased.
“How could I?” Harry grinned.
