Chapter 14
Evan never really was who went to concerts.
He never really understood the hype of going into a big crowd of people just to see the music live.
He much preferred staying in and blasting his headphones with music.
But since it was Barty who invited him he made a tiny tiny exception, just for him.
He arrived at the venue fairly early so there wasn't much of a crowd outside yet.
He got into the line and got himself a nice place by the barricade so he was able to see everything, well, he was able to see Barty.
He really enjoyed himself and by the time it was time for the last song he kind off felt sad that it's all coming to an end.
He really liked the first song Regulus sang.
He guessed it held a special meaning for that person in the crowd to whom it was directed.
Evan wasn't sure how he'd react if a singer this big dedicated a never before heard song to him, or if anyone wrote a song for him for this matter.
For the last song Barty came up to the microphone, he almost looked a bit nervous but maybe Evan imagined it a bit
"So this last song is something I've written in the past months and I'd like to dedicate it to a special person in the crowd today"
Barty found Evan's gaze and he smiled shyly then started singing
" Smoking cigarettes on the roof, you look so pretty and I love this view"
Evan was shocked to say the least. He never, ever in a million years would have guessed this is why Barty wanted him on this concert
" We fell in love in October, that's why I love fall. Looking at the starts, admiring from afar"
Evan though for a moment he misunderstood the situation, that the song wasn't for him after all.
Barty never said anything about wanting a relationship, Evan suggested it the first time they met but since then Evan assumed Barty didn't want anything romantic between them.
"My boy, my boy, my boy, you will be my boy
my boy, my boy, my boy, you will be my world
my world, my world, my world
you will be my boy"
Evan was almost tearing up, even if he completely misunderstood the whole situation and the song wasn't for him, it felt like it's for him right now and that all that matters
" Smoking cigarettes on the roof, you look so pretty and I love this view, don't bother looking down, we're not going that way, at least I know I'm here to stay"
As the song was coming to an end, and Evan was tearing up quite a bit, Barty looked him straight in the eyes and sang the last part of the song, never breaking the eye contact.
"We fell in love in October, that's why, I love fall. Looking at the stars admiring from afar"
When the song ended, before the crowd could cheer for the beautiful performance Barty started speaking again, still looking at Evan
"So before we finish I'd like to ask one more question, to this person in the crowd specifically"
He was still looking right at Evan
"Evan, would you want to be my boyfriend?"
He looked nervous and was blushing a bit.
Since they were still looking at each other all Evan had to do is do a slight nod for Barty to know he said yes.
After that Regulus took the microphone
"Okayy Amsterdam you've been amazing, this night's been amazing. Thank you all and we hope to see you again sometime. Goodnight."
The crowd cheered for the last time this evening and both, Barty and Regulus went backstage.
