Remus’s pov
After four weeks since classes started Sirius and James thought it was a good idea to have a bonfire by the black lake which was a week before the full moon Remus was not against the idea but when they told Remus that they had decided to invite all the houses, but slytherin had made Remus a little upset because that meant he wouldn't get to see Regulus, and merlin bless Marlene who was offended because her girlfriend was a slytherin and so were her friends
"Black, my girlfriend and her friends are coming whenever you like it or not, and you two say anything stupid I'll smash you balls with my bat," and that escalate it into an argument fairly quickly between Marlene and Sirius, slurs were said, Marlene began cursing in German which lead to Sirius cursing in french, only did lily and James get involved when it started to look like things were going to get physical
"for crying out loud, Sirius!, Marlene is going to invite her girlfriend and Dorcas’s friends, and that's final, and stop being a hypocrite, because no one got mad when you invited that wretched girl of a slytherin you were dating in fourth year". And maybe lily is only saying something because Regulus is her best friend, and because where Regulus goes Pandora Rosier goes too because from what Remus knows she doesn't really like Evan Rosier and Barty Crouch.
Sirius opens his mouth to defend himself, but no words leave him, so Lily nods " it's settled then. Marlene's girlfriend and her friends will come, and you will say nothing about it" lily turns making her way up the stairs to her dorm. Marlene sticks out her tongue at sirius, like a child before skipping her way upstairs following lily
In a huff, Sirius stomps like a child making his way upstairs as well to his dorm, with james and peter following behind him, the rest of the common room settled back down as if nothing ever happened.
Remus decides to finish his potions essay in the library that's due the next day, he grabs his book bag and exits the common room, as he made his way down the corridors. And before he was going to make his turn, he hears sharp whispers down the corner he peek over. To see Snivellus, Avery and bloody Mulciber cornering Regulus black "not so strong wit now, huh!? Black, or should I even call you that since mummy doesn't want you anymore" Avery taunts as he stepped closer to regulus.
And Remus knew that the responsible choice was to go get a professor as a prefect should, but the side of Remus the monster in Remus said otherwise and Remus didn't know if it was because of how close the next moon was or it was just that he didn't like the way Avery was looking at Regulus or how close he was to regulus, his regulus,
so without a second thought Remus quickly but quietly pulls out his wand and points it at snape "Brachiabindo" to which snape yelps as the spell binds him making him lose his balance and falls to the ground, Avery and Mulciber both just stare at snape on the ground confused "don't just stand there you idiots go look!?" Snape practically shrieks Avery nods his head towards the corner to which Mulciber just nods as he pulled out his wand, Remus drops his bag waiting for Mulciber to turn the corner and when. He does all he sees is a fist flying at his face,
Remus hears a crunching sound from Mulcibers nose which was to be expected the Slytherin collapses, not even getting up, he turns the corner to see avery petrified and Regulus with his wand in his hand "Lupin?" Regulus says with his usual scowl, Remus quickly picks up his bag, and goes towards regulus "Yes?" Remus purrs as he towers over regulus. "You did this"
"Yes, now let's go before Filch catches us, here with them" Remus says as he puts a gentle hand over Regulus’s lower back "wait," Regulus says sharply moving away from Remus "where are are you taking me?" Regulus says eyes narrow "the library" Regulus eyes soften very little that it's barely noticeable, but if you have been watching Regulus black as long as Remus Lupin has you grow quite. keen to tiny details that is of Regulus Arcturus Black.
Regulus nods, but then "I'm not going to the library because you told me to, i already wanted to go to the library" Regulus makes very clear as he began to walk putting a great distance between himself and Remus, the wolf himself grins as he strides to catch up.
Remus settles his bag across from regulus who raises an eyebrow as a questioning on why Remus is sitting cross from him this makes Remus want to grin
"I'll be silent" Remus promises as he pulls out his potions book, parchment, quill. And a tiny bottle of ink regulus rolls his eyes as he turns the corner to get a book, Remus sighs, merlin was it always this hard talking to regulus merlin Lily Evans makes it look easy but then again nothing every is, Remus opens his potions book and starts writing his essay. An hour passed by When Remus Lupin finished his essay, and regulus is still not back "did he leave?"
Remus looks across from him and Regulus’s bag is hanging from chair, Remus gets up from his chair and turns the same corner regulus did, only to see Regulus with multiple books in hand as he is looking up at the highest shelf "don't you have enough books?" Remus startles regulus who jumps he turns and glares "you can never have enough books, and since you're here, you might as well, make yourself useful and get me this book that I cannot reach" Regulus says pointing at the shelf, Remus raises an eyebrow
"magic word?" Regulus scowls and begrudgingly says "please, Lupin" Remus smirks as he walks towards regulus plucking the book effortlessly from the shelf "come to the bonfire this Saturday" Remus blurts outs as he places the book on Regulus’s stack "Are you telling me or asking?" Remus feels his gut twist a little "come to the bonfire this Saturday?" Remus repeated, and Regulus rolls his eyes again and Remus thinks how would regulus look with his eyes rolled back and tears streaming down as Remus shoves his cock down his- "I'll about it" Regulus says snaping Remus out of his dirty thoughts "great" Remus says as he feels blood rushing south, Fuck. they both make their way to the table, but not before regulus checks out all the books he picked out, with Madame Pince.
Regulus’s pov
As regulus read he would so often catch Lupin stealing a glance or two, and it made Regulus’s lower stomach twist and turn, regulus knew his feels weren't mutual but regulus did like the attention and looks Lupin would give him, it made him feel special.
Madam Pince an hour later cone to there table tell Regulus and Lupin that curfew was in twenty minutes, and we best make our way to our dorms, regulus nodded and Lupin began to pack his things away
As they left the library, Regulus began walking to his dorm, but so did Lupin " gryffindor dorm are I'm the other way" Regulus said "i know" Lupin replied gruffly, so Regulus just rolled his eyes and walked into silence but the silence was comforting he liked the silence it didn't feel weird and it seems that Lupin didn't mind the silence either, but that all end when they got to Regulus’s dorm "thank you" Regulus scowls "but you didn't have to i can handle myself"
"I know" Lupin blurts "I'll see you in class" Lupin says as he turned and began to walk away "I'll go" Regulus blurts out that he shocked himself at what he had said, Lupin turned "you'll go?"
"To the bloody bonfire Lupin" Regulus grits and Lupin grins "great, I'll see you there, goodnight"
"Night" Regulus mutters but Lupin was close enough to clearly hear because he smiled, and continued to make his way out of the dungeons.
