Scorpius tried really hard to concentrate on potions, but his thoughts kept drifting towards his mother and wondering if everything was alright at home. In the morning, he decided to write one more letter just to be sure, but he was going home in three days for the Christmas holidays, so he decided against it in the end. He had to chuckle at the thought he was even worse than his father.Â
But what else was he supposed to do? When his mum was expecting Lyra, he was eight years old, and he was home alone with her when she went into labor. It was quite a terrifying event for him, and he didn't like that she was in such pain, even though he knew there was nothing he could do about it. Together, they traveled to St. Mungo, and Scorpius did not leave her side until his father arrived.Â
And now she was pregnant again, and he wasn't there because he had to be at school! Lyra was only six years old. She couldn't take care of their mother like he did.Â
"Seriously, you're the biggest mama's boy," Albus smirked as he noticed his friend wasn't paying attention. And because he knew his best friend very well, he knew what the blond wizard was thinking about.Â
"My dad says it's a Malfoy thing," Scorpius chuckled.
"Which mother, though?" said a voice behind them. "The one who only had him so she could get out of marriage with a Death Eater or the mudblood who isn't even his true mother?"Â
"Shut up, Flint!" Albus hissed, beginning to fear how their conversation would turn out.Â
"No, I don't think so. Honestly, you should be glad you don't share her dirty blood like your sister," Flint continued with a smug expression. “So your father was a Death Eater, everyone makes mistakes, but at least he's still the heir to two great pureblood families. I don't understand why he is involved with her. And he even has kids with her! Such a disgrace."
"You don't know what you are talking about," Scorpius growled.Â
He knew that in everything that mattered, he was Hermione's son. She was his mum. He was about three years old when she started dating his father, and Scorpius doesn't remember a time when she wasn't in their lives. He also had a letter from Astoria that she had written when he was born, explaining everything to him. She didn't want children, and this was her only way to freedom. Scorpius knew she was now traveling the world and was happy. Like him, who was happy with his family. No hard feelings.Â
"Please, she's only good for one thing, and she is obviously great in it when she's pregnant again," Flint laughed.Â
Now, Scorpius wasn't a violent child, but as he sat here listening to his classmate insult his mother, all logic fell by the wayside. In a quick movement, he leaned over the table, grabbed Flint by the head, and slammed it into the table. He heard a crunch and couldn't help but feel a sense of accomplishment. He hoped he had broken his nose.Â
"What's going on here?" Professor Slughorn asked as he saw the situation.Â
"Marcus hit his head on the table," Scorpius replied innocently, trying not to smirk too much as he saw Flint's nose bleeding.
Professor Slughorn eyed them both. "Mr. Flint, Mr. Malfoy, follow me to the headmaster's office, please. The rest of you wait here quietly."
Well, Scorpius could have handled the situation better, but he knew that whatever punishment awaited him was worth it.
Hermione kept an eye on Lyra, who was coloring, as she checked items off her list. She needed to make sure they had everything ready before welcoming new members to their family.Â
The flames in the fireplace turned green, and a moment later, Harry appeared in their living room.
"Hermione, hi, I've come to look after my favorite niece if you want to go to Hogwarts to see Scorpius," her best friend informed her.
"Harry, I know I took it harder when he went to school this year than when he started his first year, but there's no need to tease me for that. It's the pregnancy hormones," the brunette muttered.Â
Harry looked at her in confusion. "I mean because of what happened. Draco was in my office when he got the message from McGonagall. Scorp seems to be in some trouble," he explained.
"That doesn't seem right, my Scorpius is a good kid," Hermione didn't want to believe it. Also, why wasn't she notified? She was his parent too.Â
"I know, Mi," Harry assured her. "But something happened. From what I gather, it looks like he assaulted another student."
Hermione blinked at him in disbelief before slowly getting up from the couch. "I have to go," she informed him. "You'll be here with Uncle Harry, mummy has to go see your brother. Be good for him, little love," she smiled at Lyra, and when her daughter nodded in agreement and waved at her, she walked into the Floo, thanking Merlin she was allowed to use Minerva's personal Floo.Â
"Great, we didn't really need you here, Granger," Pansy snorted as soon as she stepped into the office.
"That's Mrs. Malfoy to you," Hermione told her while Draco stood up so she could take the chair.
"What are you doing here? I have it under control," her husband whispered, but Hermione ignored him.
Instead, she looked at the two teenagers standing next to the table. Flint Junior seemed to be fine, and Scorpius looked at her with an apologetic expression, but he didn't seem to regret what had happened, whatever it was.Â
"Hermione, we're glad you joined us, but as Draco said, we've already taken care of everything," Minerva informed her.
"What happened?" she wanted to know.Â
"Marcus had some inappropriate words on his mind, and Scorpius physically assaulted him. Both boys are suspended and will serve their detentions when they return after the Christmas break," she explained briefly.
"Nothing has changed at all in this school. You still have your favorites. They should not have the same punishment. Marcus only said a few words, but Malfoy attacked him," snapped Pansy, who was clearly not happy with the turn of events.
McGonagall gave her a stern look. "They don't have the same punishments. Scorpius has a week longer detentions. I also note that this was his first indiscipline, which cannot be said for Marcus."
"Whatever, can we go now?"Â
"Please do," Minerva dismissed them.
Hermione waited for Pansy to leave with her son before taking a close look at the three people who had stayed with her in the headmaster's office.Â
"Can someone explain to me why I had to learn about this situation from Harry showing up at my house to offer to babysit Lyra?"
"I decided to inform Draco because one parent was enough for me, and I didn't want to drag you here unnecessarily in your condition," Minerva answered her.Â
"In my condition? I am not dying. I am only pregnant, and Scorpius is my son, so  I have the right to know things like this," Hermione said slightly annoyed.
Draco, who had been standing next to her until now, crouched down and grabbed her hand. "Of course, he is your son, love. Nobody disputes that," he said gently, knowing how much his wife suffered when someone tried to imply that Scorpius was not her son. "And that's also why he got into trouble. Because someone was insulting his dearest mum, and he couldn't just let it go."
"Is that true?" she asked Scorpius with a smaller lump in her throat. She wondered what Marcus must have said for her son to act like this. And now knowing that it involved her...
However, before Scorpius had a chance to answer, a pain she knew all too well shot through her body. She squeezed Draco's hand so hard she was afraid she might break a few of his bones.
"We'll have to deal with this later, we have to go right now," she said through gritted teeth.
"Mum, are you alright?" Scorpius worried and quickly moved over to her so he could grab her other hand and help her up.
"The twins decided to distract us from you. Can you believe that? They're not even here, and they're already helping you out of trouble," she tried to make light of the situation.
"Love, I hope you don't crush Scorp's hand with the same force as mine," Draco chuckled.
"Merlin, what's the matter with you Malfoy's boys? Get her to St. Mungo, preferably now," McGonagall urged them.Â
Scorpius was waiting in the corridor of St. Mungo and refused to go home until the twins were born. He was the first to welcome Lyra into the world, and it will be no different with the twins. It was his right as an older brother.
"Scorp, buddy?" his father addressed him as he finally left Hermione's room.
"Is everyone okay?"
Draco nodded. “Listen, before you go meet your new siblings, I want to tell you something. I don't approve of what happened today. I don't want you to resort to violence. But I can't help but feel proud that you stood up for your mother, as she has stood up for you all your life."
"I know, dad, and I don't want to be violent," he sighed.Â
"Glad to hear that, son, although you probably take after your mother in this one. She has a really mean right hook," Draco smirked.Â
"Dad, you probably shouldn't have reminded people that your wife punched you when you were kids," Scorpius chuckled, walking towards his mother's room.Â
He knocked on the door and then entered with his dad. The first thing he saw was a pink blanket, which meant he had another sister. However, the other one was blue, so he also got a brother.
"Scorpius, love, meet your younger brother Leo, and your youngest sister Maia," his mum smiled tiredly at him.
"Hello, babies, I am your big brother Scorpius and I will always watch out for you," he whispered and held out his hand to Maia as he was a gentleman so he decided he had to hold her first. "She's the only one of us named after a star and not a constellation," he noted with a smile as he held her.Â
"She's the youngest of you, so we're counting on everyone spoiling her. You could say she's going to be our little star," Draco chuckled as he sat down next to Hermione.
Scorp just nodded and handed her to Draco so he could hold his brother as well.
Hermione exchanged a smile with Draco. "We have the best kids. It's a shame that Lyra isn't here either."
"Well, all credit for the awesomeness of our kids goes to you, my love. And don't worry, I bet Lyra is already on her way with the others."
