Gryffindor vs. Slytherin

Things soon began to escalate quickly, as they always did. By lunchtime, Gryffindor and Slytherin had descended into an outright musical battle in the courtyard.

James, ever the showman, led the Gryffindors like he was auditioning for a Broadway production. “We’re Gryffindor, we’re brave, we’re bold! We stand for courage, hearts of gold!”

Across the courtyard, Regulus stepped up, clearly not about to be outdone. His voice was dark, smooth, and far too sexy for this situation. “We’re Slytherin, we’re cunning, we’re sly! We’ll win this war and not even try!”

Sirius, laughing his head off, jumped into the mix, joining Regulus in an overly dramatic duet— because well he was Sirius and lived for theatrics.

“You may be Slytherin, brother of mine, but Gryffindor is where i truly shine!” Sirius belted, twirling obnoxiously in front of regulus.

Regulus rolled his eyes. “You’re embarrassing yourself, you know it’s true. You belong with the snakes, not these fools in red and blue!”

Meanwhile, Remus stood of to the side, trying to look as unimpressed as possible but failing miserably beacause every time Sirius did that twirl thing, he could feel his heart doing somersaults. Sirius was impossible, but oh Merlin, he was beautiful when he was being ridiculous.

Sirius sauntered over to him, still in full performance mode, dropping to one knee in front of Remus. “Oh, Remus dear, i see you hear, and you make my heart sing loud and clear!”

Remus, unable to control the blush creeping up his neck, pushed Sirius’s face away. “You’re insufferable, Sirius Black. But gods, you’ve got me hooked, that’s a fact.”

Sirius grinned up at him, his eyes shining with mischief. “Admit it Moony. You love me.”

“Maybe i do, you insufferable prat.”

James, who had been preoccupied with showing of to Lily (who was pretending not to notice but defiantly noticing), turned his attention back to regulus. He sang— or rather screamed— in his direction, throwing all caution out into the wind.

“REGULUS! I LOVE YOU, YOU BEAUTIFUL SNAKE!”

Silence. Pure, deafening silence fell across the courtyard. All eyes turned to James, whose face was now the colour of his particular school jumper he was wearing.

Sirius’s jaw literally dropped. “Prongs— what the actual fuck?”

Regulus, who looked like he was ready to crawl into a hole and die, just stood there, frozen. He opened his mouth to respond, but nothing came out except a strangled, “what.”

James blinked, finally realising what he’d just done. “Oh no. Oh no, no, no, no—“

Regulus, still wide-eyed, took a step back. “I don’t know what to say to this, but it’s not normally my thing to take a Gryffindor kiss!” His voice came out rushed and flustered, but something about it felt off, like maybe— just maybe— he wasn’t as mad about the confession as he should be.

Sirius, still in shock, laughed. “Prongs in love with my brother, I didn’t see this coming, oh Merlin.”

Remus rolled his eyes. “This is a disaster.”
