Harry Potter, Prompts #5 - 8
Prompt 1
Tags: James Potter Lives, Lily Potter Lives, Sane Alice Longbottom, Sane Frank Longbottom, Alternate Hogwarts Sorting
Neville and Harry both get to be older brothers, and are raised best friends. Their siblings are best friends too.
This Includes:
- Because the Potter's and Longbottom's are so close, the siblings disregard House Politics and Divides at Hogwarts.
- Harry sorted Slytherin House. He takes the most after his grandmother, Lady Dorea Black. He Has cunning and ambition in spades.
Neville sorted Hufflepuff House. He’s extremely loyalty, loves plants, and has a strong work ethic.
Ianthe Potter sorted Gryffindor House. She is chivalrous and brave, but also just as reckless and quick to anger like her Uncle, Sirius Black.
Lilibet Longbottom sorted Ravenclaw House. OF the four siblings, she is the most studious, but she genuinely loves to read and learn new things (for the sake of learning).

James’ parents, Charlus and Dorea Potter, survive their Dragon Pox diagnosis in 1977.
This Includes:
- James and Lily are still killed by Voldemort in 1981.
Dumbledore absconds with Harry in the aftermath. Charlus and Dorea assume he’s going to try to place their grandson with Lily’s sister, Petunia, so they Disillusion themselves and monitor Privet Drive.
Once McGonagall, Dumbledore, and Hagrid disappear, they walk up to the door, take Harry, and leave a note of their own for Petunia in place of the one Dumbledore had in Harry’s basket.
It is important to note that Charlus and Dorea have legal and primary custody of Harry, followed by Sirius Black and Alice Longbottom.
Harry grows up in a safe and loving environment with his grandparents, who also teach him how to function and perform the duties affiliated with being Heir Potter-Black.
- Charlus and Dorea know their second son, Sirius, is not guilty of betraying James and Lily, and did not kill Peter or those muggles. They campaign every six months or so for Sirius to be freed from Azkaban - or at least given a trial as is his right - but they refuse until Bagnold is finally replaced by Fudge in 1984.
- Charlus and Dorea do, occasionally, spoil Harry but they moderate it so that Harry doesn’t become James reborn. Luckily, Harry also has more of his mother's personality and temperament than his fathers.

Andromeda and Ted Tonks are given custody of Harry following his parents deaths and Sirius imprisonment.
This Includes:
- Multiple reasons: they share blood through Dorea Black Potter and Sirius Black, and they were third on the list of potential guardians in James and Lily’s Wills.
- Like a lot of other half-bloods, Harry grows up half-muggle and half-magical
- Andromeda does teach him many of the lessons she had as a pure-blood, and Dora helps out occasionally.
- Andy and Ted don’t have house-elves, so Andy does most of the cooking.
- Harry loves watching Andy cook, so when he’s 6 years old she begins to teach him some basics and lets him help her out a little bit.
- When Harry is 9 years old he chooses to explore the garden in the back and then starts taking care of it. Andy and Ted leave him to it, provided he comes to them if something dangerous or overly difficult happens.
- As a side effect, these “chores” sort of put Harry ahead of the curve in Potions and Herbology for First Year.
Not Included, but Interesting:
- Once, when Harry was 8 years old Andy tried to cut his hair and it grew back in an hour. After a few experiments to see if it was accidental magic or an Ability, they determine that Harry is also a Metamorphmagus, so Dora teaches him how to control it.
Prompt 4

This Includes:
- When James and Lily die, their Wills specify that Hardian could not, under any circumstances, be left with Petunia. Sirius has first shot at custody, since he is Godfather. If Sirius can’t fulfill this duty, then Hadrian’s custody goes to Severus. They want Remus to be part of Hadrian’s life, but they know the Ministry would never allow a werewolf to have custody of a child that wasn’t theirs.
- Dumbledore is a cunt. He ignores the Wills and delivers Hadrian to Petunia.
- Harry is 11 years old when Minerva McGonagall and Severus see Hadrian again.
- When Severus sees him, he is deeply saddened by his appearance - he’s obviously been abused. He’s also excited that his nephew is only 20 yards in front of him.
- Yes, Harry still looks like James with Lily’s eyes, but Severus made peace with James before he died.
- Severus vows to himself that he will protect, guide, and cherish this child for the rest of his life.
- Harry sorted Slytherin
- Severus has a lot of work to do, to catch Harry up to the standards that Slytherin House demands of its students, especially because he was Muggle Raised.
- Severus shares memories and stories with Harry about his parents, the War, his family history, why Dumbledore left him with Petunia, House prejudice, British bigotry, etc. More than anything else, though, Severus tells Harry how loved he is.
- Severus also wants to know everything that happened to Harry in the last decade.
