Chapter 1

Golden dawn light filtered through the curtains, slowly creeping over the tousled bed where two figures lay wrapped around each other, as if every breath, every heartbeat, was bound in the gentle but possessive hold between them. Regulus stirred first, watching the rise and fall of James’s chest, listening to the steady rhythm of his breathing. It was in these rare, quiet moments that the world shrank to the warmth of skin and tangled limbs, hidden and safe from the judgment of the outside world.
His fingers traced a path along the sharp curve of James’s jaw, skimming across the faint stubble there. James shifted beneath his touch, a soft sigh escaping his lips as his eyes slowly blinked open, meeting Regulus’s gaze with a sleepy, tender smile. “Caught you staring,” he murmured, his voice rough with sleep, eyes brightening as his lips curved into a mischievous grin.
“And?” Regulus replied, his voice soft yet laced with challenge, as if daring James to say more.
James’s grin only widened, and he slid his hand to the back of Regulus’s neck, fingers threading through his dark hair as he pulled him close. Their lips met in a languid kiss, slow and unhurried, tasting each other with a sense of wonder and need that words could never capture. The kiss deepened, becoming more insistent as James’s hand traveled lower, pressing Regulus closer until there was no space between them, only heat.
Regulus gasped softly as James’s mouth found his neck, lips trailing down to his collarbone, igniting a trail of fire that left him aching and breathless. “You’re insatiable,” Regulus muttered, a faint tremor in his voice that betrayed how his body responded to every touch, every whisper.
“And you love it,” James replied with a smirk, his voice a low murmur against Regulus’s skin. His hands moved with deliberate slowness, exploring every line, every curve, as if committing each detail to memory. Regulus shivered beneath his touch, his breath catching as James’s fingers skimmed over sensitive skin, sending sparks through him that made him arch against James, silently begging for more. “Let me show you just how insatiable I can be.”
“Wait. James, before we do this. I need you to promise. Promise me that whatever happens today, we’ll keep this,” Regulus said, his voice suddenly serious. His gaze searched James' face, a mix of hope and vulnerability in his eyes. Regulus needed James to understand the weight of what he was saying, but he also knew he couldn't fully articulate it. He had spent so long hiding his feelings, and now that they were laid bare, he was terrified of what might come next.

James met his gaze, brow furrowing slightly as he processed the intensity of Regulus' words. “Of course,” he replied, his voice steady. “No matter what.”

With a nod that felt almost imperceptible, Regulus reached out, his fingers brushing against the fabric of James' shirt. He felt a flutter of anticipation in his stomach, and before he could think better of it, he pushed his fingers up James' chest, trailing them around the curve of his neck. Gently, he tugged James closer, their bodies brushing against each other.
“God, you’re warm,” Regulus murmured, feeling the steady heat radiate off James as he tucked his face into the curve of his shoulder. The intimacy of the moment sent a thrill through him, and he let himself sink deeper, slotting his thigh between James' legs. The motion drew a shuddering breath from James—a sound so tender, so raw, that it almost made Regulus lose his composure.
It was almost unfair, Regulus thought, feeling the pulse of James's heart racing beneath his hand, a frantic rhythm that echoed his own. James was always so bright, always so warm, like the sun itself—a contrast to his own darker, colder nature. The way James seemed to pull him closer, like gravity drawing him in, felt like something he couldn’t resist even if he tried.
In that moment, everything else faded away—the expectations, the secrets, the weight of the world slipping into silence around them. He pressed closer, lost in the warmth that felt as essential as sunlight itself, feeling James wrap around him as though he were the only thing that mattered in his orbit.
As the tension built between them, a surge of possessiveness coursed through Regulus. With a sudden determination, he pressed James back against the mattress, the shift in power igniting something primal within him. “You’re not the only one who can show you how insatiable it can be,” he breathed, his voice thick with desire.
James looked up at him, eyes wide with a mix of surprise and excitement, a wicked grin spreading across his face. “Is that a challenge?” he teased, but there was no mistaking the eagerness in his voice.
Regulus couldn’t help but smirk back, feeling a rush of adrenaline at the thought of taking control. “Oh, it definitely is,” he replied, his tone confident as he leaned closer, his body hovering over James. He could feel the heat radiating between them, the anticipation crackling in the air like electricity. “Just let me take care of you.
“Shit,” James whispered, his voice breathless. His other hand shot out, gripping the front of Regulus’ shirt as he instinctively leaned closer. Regulus shivered at the heat of James against him, a wicked part of him relishing how utterly lost James looked, eyes wide and mouth slightly parted, longing and desire dancing in his gaze.
“Just like that,” Regulus breathed, taking a moment to breathe in the warmth of the morning and the intoxicating closeness of their bodies. He slid his free hand down James' chest slowly, teasingly, before gripping James’ waistband and tugging lightly, coaxing him closer. “Come here.”
“Regulus,” James choked out, his voice hitching in his throat. Regulus held his breath, exhilaration coursing through him as James pushed his hips forward, seeking more friction. Regulus could feel the heat radiating from James, and it made his blood pound.
“Keep moving,” Regulus urged softly, his voice a husky whisper. He watched as James’ hips began to shift, a rhythm starting to build between them. The sounds of James’ soft whines reverberated in the quiet room, a melody of pleasure that ignited something primal within Regulus.
“Fuck, I—” James gasped, his movements growing more frantic. Regulus couldn't suppress the groan that escaped his lips, the way James responded to him was intoxicating, a high he never wanted to come down from.
“Please,” James breathed, the word a desperate plea as he ground against Regulus’ thigh, the urgency palpable in the air. Regulus felt the heat pooling low in his stomach, a hunger igniting within him that made him desperate to take control.
“Don’t stop,” Regulus murmured, voice low and steady. “Show me how much you need it, James.”
“Regulus,” James whispered, that single utterance sending shockwaves through him. With newfound determination, James rolled them over and slid his hand under Regulus’ shirt, fingers dancing over the taut muscles beneath, mapping out every curve and contour with growing urgency.
“God, you feel so good,” Regulus breathed, arching his back as James leaned in, mouth grazing Regulus’ throat, breath hot and teasing against his skin. Regulus’ head fell back against the pillow, surrendering to the sensations as James took the lead, their gentle kisses transforming into something more fervent, desperate.
James’ mouth was a revelation—warm and sweet against his skin, igniting a fire within him that he couldn’t contain. As James explored, Regulus tangled his fingers in James’ hair, anchoring him as their bodies pressed together. He felt his resolve crumble, the thought of kissing James fading into the background as raw desire took over. With a sudden burst of strength Regulus rolled James underneath him and eagerly sought out the skin right where James’ neck met his shoulder and but down.
“Love, please,” James moaned,a mix of longing and urgency that made Regulus’ breath hitch. In that moment, he knew he couldn’t hold back any longer. He tilted his head, offering his neck, a gesture both instinctual and reckless.
James responded eagerly, flipping them once again and pressing his mouth against Regulus’ throat with a fervor that made Regulus' breath stutter. Each kiss felt like a promise, each touch igniting something deeper within him. He felt James’ hands roam over his body, claiming and exploring, sending shivers down his spine.
“God, this is—” Regulus breathed, gripping James’ waist as the heat between them intensified. “Baby, I—oh.”
James rolled his hips against Regulus’ thigh, and Regulus couldn't help but reciprocate the movement, thrusting gently against him, their bodies caught in a rhythm that grew more desperate with each passing moment. The sound of their breath mingling filled the air, a beautiful symphony of pleasure.
“Regulus,” James gasped, voice strained with need. “I—oh, I can’t—I need—”
“Let go, let go, baby. Let me hear you.” Regulus urged, voice low and husky. “Just let it happen.”
With that, James’ body responded, arching into Regulus as he gasped and trembled, riding the waves of pleasure crashing over him. Regulus guided him through it, their bodies entwined in a haze of ecstasy, James’ cries of bliss echoing off the walls.
“Regulus, oh god—” James cried out, and Regulus felt the tightening in his stomach, the build-up of something powerful threatening to consume him.
“Just like that,” Regulus coaxed, urging him on, their bodies moving in perfect harmony. “You’re so fucking beautiful when you lose yourself like this.”
As they spiraled together, Regulus held onto James tightly, feeling every shudder, every gasp as if they were part of him. The world around them faded, leaving just the two of them, bound by desire and the intoxicating pull of their bodies.
As they came down from the high, Regulus wrapped his arms around James, pulling him close, their hearts still racing in sync. He reveled in the afterglow, the warmth of James against him grounding him in a way he had never expected. Their breaths mingled, and for a moment, everything felt right.
Regulus tilts his head, studying James with an amused glint, feeling the familiar, mischievous thrill bubbling up as he runs his thumb slowly along James’s collarbone. The room is silent except for their breaths mingling in the early morning light, and a smirk tugs at Regulus’s lips. “You know,” he starts, his voice low and almost conversational, “I used to have this fantasy… started out a lot like this.”
James raises an eyebrow, eyes still heavy-lidded as he gazes at Regulus with a lazy, satisfied grin. “Did it now?”
“Mhm,” Regulus hums, fingers wandering down James's chest in a soft but deliberate path. “Just me and you, tangled up together in bed. Barely awake, our bodies close. Honestly, never quite thought I’d see the day.” He pauses, tapping his fingers playfully against James’s skin. “Or that you’d be here, looking at me like that.”
James chuckles, but there’s an edge of anticipation in his voice. “And in this little fantasy, what happens next?”
“Oh, you know,” Regulus muses, fingers dipping just below the waistband of James’s boxers, tugging teasingly. “You’d be touching me instead of the other way around. Guess my fourteen-year-old self hadn’t counted on me being so forward.”
“Less shy now, are you?” James teases, though his gaze is glued to the movement of Regulus's hand.
Regulus grins, pressing his lips to James’s jaw in a featherlight kiss. “Something like that. With experience comes… boldness.” He smirks, flicking his gaze up to meet James’s as he murmurs, “Why, jealous?”
James doesn’t miss a beat, looking up at Regulus with an arched brow. “Maybe. Depends on who this experience was with.”
“Oh, don’t worry, Potter, no one else matters now.” Regulus curls his fingers just enough to snap James’s waistband against his skin, earning a small gasp. “Though I do recall a few moments that drove me mad. Like you kissing Lily right in front of me at thirteen. Could’ve sworn you’d broken my heart right there.”
James blinks, a smile breaking through as the memory comes back to him. “Lily,” he murmurs, laughing softly. “Good memory, Black. Althought I want you to know that we were just trying out kissing someone who wasnt our gender. If it makes you feel better, she lasted about five seconds then sprinted as fast as she could into the bathroom. I could hear her heaving from out side.”
Regulus hums, inching his hand back up to rest over James’s heart, his tone a mixture of mischief and nostalgia. “Quite a blow to your ego huh, sunshine? Serves you right, I had to suffer through watching you flirt with half the school, and I still do.” He glances away, a little wistful. “Ravi, Holly, Saxon… Meanwhile, here I was, thinking I’d never get over you.”
James pulls him closer, his voice softened. “And what about now?”
Regulus’s eyes meet his, the weight of years of longing hanging between them. “Now?” He leans in, pressing a kiss just above James’s heart. “Now I’m keeping you.”
The warmth in James’s gaze deepens, and he reaches out, pulling Regulus close. “So that’s it then? You’re just taking it?”
“Obviously.” Regulus smirks, pressing their foreheads together. “Not a chance I’d let you out of this now.” He runs his thumb gently along James’s jawline, the morning light casting a soft glow over his face. “So tell me, Potter… any regrets? Since I’m sure ou realize, of course, that now you’re stuck with me?” he teases, his voice low and sultry, a smirk dancing on his lips.
Regulus leans in closer, the weight of their situation hanging between them like a taut string. As he feels the warmth radiating from James, he wrestles with a twinge of hesitation. He knows this moment can’t last; after the ceremony, everything will change. But right now, wrapped up in their shared warmth, he craves just a bit more of this blissful ignorance.
James’s mouth twitches, caught between amusement and disbelief. “Oh, is that how it works?”
“Absolutely.” Regulus’s grin sharpens, his fingers lazily tracing circles over James’s shoulder, enjoying the way his touch sends shivers across James's skin. “No escaping now, Potter. You’re in far too deep.”
James blinks, and for a moment, Regulus sees that mix of adoration and confusion swirl in his eyes, a fleeting glimpse of the emotions that lie beneath the surface. But then, with a soft shake of his head, James fights back laughter, a slow, smitten smile breaking across his face. “Fucking hell, Regulus.”
Regulus can’t help but chuckle, the sound rich and warm. Yet, beneath the surface, the weight of reality presses in on him. He knows this can't last forever, that he’s playing a dangerous game by allowing himself to indulge in this moment. The thought of breaking it all off after the ceremony stings like a fresh wound, but he forces it down, letting the lightness of their morning together fill the air.
“Just remember, if I’m going down in flames, I’m dragging you with me,” he quips, his tone playful but tinged with a bittersweet edge. “But at least we’ll look good doing it.”
The sincerity of his words hangs in the air, and for a brief moment, he lets himself bask in the warmth of their intimacy. Regulus studies James’s face, wanting to memorize every line, every glimmer in his eyes that makes his heart race. This is what he wants—a connection, a shared moment of laughter and warmth. The laughter echoes in his mind, a tempting distraction from the heartache looming on the horizon.
But even as he revels in the here and now, a flicker of uncertainty dances at the edges of his thoughts. He knows he shouldn’t be doing this, shouldn’t be pushing their boundaries further, but the allure of James—of everything he represents—is far too intoxicating to resist. In this moment, Regulus allows himself to dream, if only for a heartbeat longer, of a life where they could be together without the weight of expectations or endings.
“Just keep that in mind,” he adds, a flirtatious lilt returning to his voice as he leans in closer, his breath warm against James’s ear. “Because I’ve got a feeling this is only the beginning of our little adventure.”
With that, he pulls back just enough to catch James’s gaze, a playful glint in his eyes, and for just a moment, everything else fades away—the worries, the impending separation, the heartache waiting to unfold. All that matters is this moment, and the undeniable chemistry crackling between them.
As they linger there, caught in a suspended reality, Regulus can’t help but think that maybe, just maybe, they’ll find a way to make this work—if only for a little while longer.
They lay together, wrapped in each other's warmth, the world outside forgotten for now. Whatever happened next, they both knew they’d face it together
James brushed a strand of hair from Regulus’s face, his voice soft. “You know, you’re breathtaking like this,” he murmured, his gaze tender and unguarded in a way he reserved only for these stolen moments.
Regulus’s eyes softened, a faint blush coloring his cheeks as he tried to mask the flicker of vulnerability. “Save your flattery, Potter,” he muttered, though the warmth in his tone betrayed him.
“Baby, I know we both don’t want me to ask this, but what time is it?” James nestled deeper into Regulus’ warmth. “What if we just don’t check. What if we just do that again. Cause I think I need to do that again. Like, right now.”

Regulus huffed a laugh into James’ hair. “It’s your last year James, you need to at least try and be responsible.”

“Here’s the thing though, I think I don’t have to. I think I've deserved some free time.”

“James.” Regulus said in mock sternness. “Mcgonagall will actually kill you if you’re late one more time for her class. And, I much prefer my boyfriend to be alive ever want to do that again, since you know you were kind of an important part.”

“Oh is that a challenge I hear? I’ll have you know that I could fuck you just as well as a ghost. Also yes, I do have some very important parts. I think we might need more practice first though.” James’ mouth finds its way to Regulus’ neck, hovering just above his skin. He blows softly, and Regulus back arches involuntarily, and moans. Then turns his head away in embarrassment at the sound that just came out of his mouth

“Come on James, I actually am really hungry.” Regulus said, trying to distract him from the noise he just made.

“Oh well in that case,” James starts wiggling his eyebrows, “I have something to fill you up with.” Regulus moans again and pushes his head into the crook of James’s neck.

“Love, you need to stop making that noise.” Regulus’s head jerks up in surprise and embarrassment. “What, um what noise?”

“Dont play dumb love, if you keep making noises like that I am going to fuck you, and then l will definitely be late for class.

At that, Regulus’ ears turn a bright shade of red. “You-you can’t just say that.”

James’ face splits open into a massive grin. The kind that makes Regulus’ heart clench. And that makes him never want to let James go.
James chuckled, pressing one last lingering kiss to his lips before reluctantly pulling away. “Fine, if you insist, maybe we should get up before anyone gets suspicious. Don’t want to give anyone another reason to ask questions, do we?”
They exchanged a look, a silent promise that echoed in the spaces between them, as they hurriedly dressed, each touch, each glance lingering just a little longer than necessary. By the time they slipped out of the room, they’d crafted a practiced distance between them, enough to keep suspicion at bay.
