Lily was excited. This was Harry's first proper Halloween, as he was too small last year. He's in the cutest little wizards cloak...
Lily's currently in the living room with Harry, while James is in the kitchen making up the trick or treaters bowl. James has always been into Halloween more than Lily has, always wanting to go big or go home, this year is no different, even though they're in hiding.
Sirius and Remus are supposed to be coming over soon, and per Lily's request, they have to wear costumes for the photos. That's when there's a knock.
"James, can you get that? It must be the boys.." Lily calls, lifting Harry up onto her hip and smiling down at him. He's always been such a smiley baby..
"Yeah, two seconds!" He calls back, carrying the sweets with him and placing it on the side table as he opens the door.
"Oh, Peter? We didn't expect you to.. wait. What are you doing?" James says, his voice getting duller and duller by the second. Something is wrong...
"No.. Lily, run! He's here, take Harry and run!" James yells, and Lily freezes. No. No, not now. Not her baby..
She's halfway up the stairs when she hears a loud thud, making the mistake of turning around and lets out a horrible scream. James, not her James, no-
She keeps running, making it to Harry's nursery where the baby is now wailing and crying.
"Shhh... shh, everything's okay, daddy's just asleep, Harry... mummy loves you.. daddy loves you.." she says through tears, stroking his little face.
There's a banging at the door. All she wants is for him to be safe. Her boy has to be safe. She wouldn't be able to live with herself if he wasn't safe-
So she casts a spell. A binding spell, making sure her baby will be safe.
He comes in and she screams, standing infront of Harry's cot.
"No! Don't- not him, take me! Don't hurt him!" She begs, trying to keep the screaming baby from view.
"Silly girl..." Voldemort laughs before pulling out his wand and pointing it at her. "Avada Kedavra!" He hisses and Lily lets out a scream, hitting the ground.
He's safe. Harry's safe. That's all that matters..
Lily Potter dies with the knowledge that her only child will be safe, and that she will soon see her husband again.
