Who are you?
Sirius was sitting at the Owlery, petting a beautiful snow owl who loved to chirp and nip on his fingers affectionately. He never knew the name of the owl, but he is nice and lovable, so Sirius can't do much about it. Sirius didn't notice that someone was coming by when the person finally sat down next to him. A girl, he thought, and a Ravenclaw. She didn't speak anything at first, as she sat down next to him, reading a book.
Then, the owl that Sirius was petting chirped at her, and she smiled, as the owl jumped onto her arm and she tickled it, eliciting a chirp and a nip from the owl. The girl chuckled, as she fed the owl a strip of bacon, and it nuzzled her. The Ravenclaw smiled, as she handed the owl a letter and it took it into its claws.
"Lilac, could you please send this letter to Lord Grandfather? Please wait for a response as well, it'll take a while for you to come back, after all," The girl said kindly, as the owl, Lilac, chirped in agreement, and was fed with another bacon, before the owl left.
"Thanks for putting up with Lilac, Black," She said, as she looked at Sirius
"Who are you? I am Sirius Black, by the way," Sirius said with a slight bow
"Madelyne Woods, but I prefer Maddy, also, you don't know me because I am in the year above you, yes, I am a 6th Year," Madelyne said kindly as Sirius looked at her and nodded
"Mind telling me what's going on inside your head? You look like you could use a listener," Maddy offered, as Sirius looked at her in shock, before nodding.
At this point, Sirius didn't care anymore, he just wants an ear that will listen to him, someone that cares. So, he told her, about the prank, about the fallout, the Gryffindors all going against him, and Snape's heinous act of using Legilimency and even did an unsavoury acts to get the truth about Remus. All without telling the older about what Remus is.
Madelyne listened, as she nodded at everything Sirius said with an air of understanding and empathy. Once Sirius finished, she looked at him and said,
"They didn't believe you?" Madelyne asked
"They didn't even let me talk," Sirius said
"... What an odd thing to do," Madelyne replied as she offered him a pastry, after she opened a small box that was with her.
"Take one, I made it in the kitchens, with the house elves' permission," Madelyne said as Sirius took a pastry
"Thank you, Maddy," Sirius muttered, as he ate the pastry gracefully
"You're welcome, Sirius," Maddy said kindly
They sat in a comfortable silence, as Maddy looked at him, and said,
"No wonder I never saw Lupin in the Forbidden Forest during full moons, he was in the Shrieking Shack?" Maddy said to Sirius who looked at her in surprise
"I'm a werewolf, but no one, other my friends, and now you, know about it, not even Dumbledore," Maddy said
"What the heck?" Sirius muttered
"I don't trust that old coot," Maddy said honestly
"Fair enough," Sirius conceded, as he himself didn't trust that old coot
"So, how did you handle it?" Sirius asked
"Running around the forest with Firenze, the centaur that's living in the Forbidden Forest," Maddy said
Sirius hummed, as he thought about this new information. So, they have two werewolves, not one... Huh, how did Dumbledore not know about Maddy? She must've been really good at acting and keeping up the faux act of being a normal kid.
"Sirius," Maddy called out
"Yes?" Sirius said
"Would you like to join my group of friends?" Maddy offered
"Can I?" Sirius asked
"Of course, you'll find us similar in many ways, I'm sure," Maddy smiled, as Sirius finally realised something
"Wait! How come I didn't recognize you? You're the captain of Ravenclaw's Quidditch team!" Sirius said in realization
"I am just that good at keeping low profile," Maddy smiled
"Now come on, my friends will be worried if I am out here any longer without them knowing," Madelyne said
Maddy the gently dragged Sirius, and smoothed his hair back, as they walked into the castle, Sirius still reeling in shock and realization.
