CHAPTER 4
Location — St. Mungo’s Hospital
Date — 2 November, 1981
Hagrid’s POV
He was crying. Who wouldn’t? After seeing two of his friends in hospital beds with nobody knowing what exactly happened to them, you are bound to cry.
He remembered when Professor Dumbledore asked him to go to Godric’s Hollow, he was terrified of what he will witness there. As he and some other Order members reached there, they saw a half blown house standing where there was a sweet home of a sweet family.
He quickly went inside and found James on the floor, covered in an eerie greenish glow. He touched his body and found that he was alive but unconscious.
Then they all heard a scream of Molly from upstairs. He quickly climbed the stairs and went toward what appeared to be the Nursery of Young Harry.
Molly was standing there with her hand over her mouth and tears in her eyes which were wide open with fear of what was inside the room. He quickly moved inside and was horrified by the amount of blood inside the nursery. The windows and outer wall were broken and blood splattered everywhere in the room.
Then he saw same creepy greenish on what appeared to be a body covered in blood. He went nearby the body and found that it was of Lily. She was also alive but injured & unconscious. All the order members lifted Lily and James & reached St.Mungo’s as fast as possible.
All Healers were trying their best to find what happened to Potters, but nobody has the slightest idea. Dark lord used multiple dark curses in his lifetime but none was like this. They were like comatose & have no idea of what’s happening around them.
Then, he saw Professor Dumbledore coming toward him. His face was showing his anxiety & fear.
“PROFESSOR….PROFESSOR…” Hagrid yelled causing other people to look at him pointedly.
“ Hagrid, speak slowly. This is hospital, not the school.” Professor said while looking at others apologetically.
He pointed toward the Potter’s room and began sniffle to try to stop his tears.
Professor put his hand on the back in a supportive gesture and moved inside the room.
Dumbledore’s POV
He felt that he lost the war. As he looked at James & Lily’s young faces, he felt shame inside his body.
He sat down near the beds of both the comatose patients. He felt guilty, after all even he was fooled by the acts of that Sirius Black. He really thought that a Black could be turned Light but Sirius proved him wrong. A snake always remains a snake.
‘Whenever Sirius is going to be found, I will make sure he would never see sun again.’
Then he deflated. He was also somewhat responsible for this condition of Potters. If he hadn’t taken the interview of Sybil in Hog’s Head, nothing would have happened.
Neither Snape would have listened to that half Prophecy nor it would have caused this mess. He had the knowledge of the curse used on Potters. It was a dark curse used to keep the person in suspended state where the person’s life is attached to someone else’s life. In this case, Potters will remain in this state until Harry is not dead.
Harry, he lamented, was another case of his failure. When he first sensed his wards broken near Godric’s Hollow, he knew that Potter’s have been betrayed. Then he quickly apparated outside the Godric’s Hollow and moved toward the Potter’s house.
He went inside the house and saw James on the floor but covered in a greenish glow. He knew what it was, he was horrified and he moved again toward the upper floor.
What he found there chilled his spine.He then looked around and saw Lily on the floor covered in same greenish glow as James.
Then he looked around and saw blood covering everything including the crib in which a child was standing and looking at him with his intelligent eyes. He felt the complete darkness coming from Harry or should he say his scar.
He had the idea of how much evil Tom has been but a child, a mere child used in this manner. Absolutely disgusting.
Then he saw the robe of Tom, completely stenched in blood. But there was no wand present. Sirius must have taken it away.
He quickly brandished his wand. He couldn’t keep this child in the magical world. He has to keep him away for his own safety until he could find a way to remove the dark magic from his scar. And until that happens, Potters have to stay under that curse.
Neither Harry could ever see his parents awakened again nor his parents could see Harry again as Potters were effectively dead.
He removed Harry from the crib and used the elder wand to take out some blood from Harry’s body & poured it into the crib to prove that both Tom and Harry were killed in magical backlash.
He then took away Harry with him to his official residence so that Harry could heal from his injuries and tried to study his scar. But whenever he tried to study it, scar would give a backlash causing Harry to cry in pain. He decided to put the child away so that he could study what the scar was and what could be done to remove it.
So after a day until everything calmed down and everybody started to call Potters as ‘The-Family-who-defeated-Dark-lord’ , He quickly apparated to Pivet Drive as he knew Lily had put blood wards on her Sister’s house.
Those wards could stop any person with evil intentions towards the family residing the house or particularly toward Lily’s blood.
He put a letter into the Crib and put a warming charm.
He knew there were some problems in between the two sisters but he also knew that if Unspeakables got to know about what happened at Godric’s hollow that night, they will take away this child and experiment on him & he won’t allow that to happen to a small child like Harry.
Few beatings were far better than what would unspeakables and other entities would do to him.
He looked at Potters and vowed to find a way to protect Harry from the darkness in his scar & to find Sirius to make sure he will pay for his betrayals.
