Regulus always thought that deep down his mother loved him and his brother even if the only proof of love they had ever received from her was their childhood teddies.
Both of the teddies they had were linked to the constellation they were named after. Sirius’ one was a black dog he named Canis and Regulus’ one was a lion he called Leo.
What made Regulus think that those were a piece of their mother’s love for them was the fact that when you pulled a string at the back of the stuffed animal, a lullaby would start and the voice singing it was their mother’s. It went a bit like this:
“Mon bébé si jolie,

Toi la raison de ma vie
Bébé joli
Oui mon tout petit”

The last time the music from Leo was heard was in the dark of a sinister and dreary cave. After the last note came out, both teddies were reunited in the sadness of the forgotten love from a family member. At last, a final message was spoken in the voice of both a brother and a mother saying to the young and now lost boy:
“Know that you were loved little king”
