The vanishing glass

The boy sleeping when a sharp shrill voice was yelling at him to get up, she unlocked a cupboard before slamming her hand on the door, "Now!".

"Even our thralls have more space than he does"

Grabbing his glasses the boy sat up, an obese boy was running down the stairs before going back up to jump up and down causing sawdust to fall on the smaller boy. "Wake up Potter we're going to the zoo!" he exclaimed before running down and shoving the boy back into the cupboard laughing as he did.

"He seems charming" Hvitserk laughed, Aslaug looked at the overweight boy in disgust not liking his attitude.

"There he is the birthday boy" his mother gushed pulling him into a hug as his father also wished him a happy birthday. The small boy was instructed to make breakfast while his cousin was yelling about the amount of presents he was getting as he thought it wasnt enough.

"Are we sure he isn't Ivars?" Sigurd laughed, "i don't sound like that!".

A noise rang throughtout the house and the aunt made her way towards the noise she came back looking both angry and worried. "Bad news Vernon. Mrs Figg has broken her leg and she can't take him" she told him her head pointing in Harrys direction. He looked thrilled at the thought of going to the zoo, Petunia glared at him "now what?" she asked her husband.

"take him with you?"

"We could phone Marge" Vernon suggested, "don't be silly she hates the boy".

"They do realise that he can hear them" Ubbe commented, if they didn't want the boy then why keep him. Judging by his face this was a common occurance, "when is my daughter going to be shown" Ivar grumbled. "Hopefully soon" Aslaug comforted just as eager to see her grandchild.

"What about whats-her-name, your friend- Yvonne?" "on holiday in Marjorca" Petunia snapped. "You could just leave me here" Harry added in hopefully wanting to be able to watch what he wanted on TV, Aunt Petunia looked as if she had swallowed a lemon, "and come back to find the house in ruins?" she snarled. "Besides God knows that your friend will find joy in causing havoc whilst we are gone" she added in.

"That sounds like Ivar" Floki giggled, "the seer did say that this boy was important to her" Ragnar added in smirking at the thought of his grandchild causing havoc on these people. Ivar smiled to himself, hoping that they were right.

Harry had no argument for that, having tried to tell people of Harrys situation and having it backfire on her friend, Liva took great joy in tormenting his relatives. "I suppose we could take him to the zoo...and leave him in the car" Petunia thought outloud, "that cars new he's not sitting in it alone". Dudley began to cry loudly. He wasn't really crying as he hadn't really cried in years but he knew if he wailed with a screwed up face then he could get his mother to do as he wants.

"I take it back, he's worse than Ivar" "He's pathetic"

Petunia reassured Dudley that his cousin wouldn't ruin his day, the doorbell went off making him immadately stopped crying. Pier a scrawny boy was at the boy as he was invited to come with the Dursely's, they all walked towards the car. Vernon stopped and glared in front of him, Dudley and Piers began making themselves look nicer whilst Harry grinned widley. Leaning on the car was Liva who just smiled at Vernon her eyes screaming with mischief, she had long brown hair, bright blue eyes and was a beautiful child.

The room was silent as they looked at a female version of Ivar, Floki smirked and patted Ivars shoulder "she has the eyes of loki" he giggled. Ivar was suddenly smothered in a hug by his mother "My son she is beautiful and definately yours" she stroked his hair down. Ragnar stared at the screen happy that his son will know the joys of having a daughter and prayed to the Gods that he wouldnt know the heartbreak that came with losing them. "Not another Ivar" Hvitserk moaned but smiled so his brother knew that it was all in jest, "we can only pray that she isnt as much as a smartass" Ubbe weighed in laughing.

"What's that weird metal thing?" Bjorn asked curious of the future, "write it down and hopefully we will meet her and you can ask" Helga suggested.

"What are you doing here?" Vernon growled, "what's it look like? i'm coming with you" she smirked at him. Before he could say no Dudley was nodding saying that they could manage to fit all four of them in the back. Harry was looking forward to this before but now he was overjoyed the car ride was a tense one. With Vernon grabbing the wheel until his knuckles were white, Petunia trying to calm him down, Harry and Liva were talking and ignoring the other twos attempts to talk to her.

"That fat kid may be your son in law Ivar" Hvitserk laughed at Ivars look of disgust which he shared with their mother. "She clearly can't stand him brother, plus she is much too young" he waved off his brothers jokes. "I think her and her friend will get togther" Sigurd added smirking as his brother was getting annoyed, Floki seeing this and knowing Ivars rage quickly jumped in "i think they see each other as siblings".

The zoo was filled was filled with families due to it being a sunny day, the Dursleys brought Piers and Dudley a large ice cream each at the entrance. Liva who had brought her own money brought Harry one and paid extra for more scoops just so it was bigger, Dudley threw a fit and demanded a bigger one. Liva timed it so that they entered the zoo when she came back with it meaning the Dursleys couldn't go back through the entrance and give in to their sons tantrums . Harry smiled and thanked her and the two shared the treat while watching the gorilla and comparing its features to Dudleys.

"What kind of animal is that!" Ragnar exclaimed looking at the large beast, "They called it a gorilla". Bjorn looked at the animal with intrest wondering if he could take it down like he had done with the bear. "They aren't wrong it does look like that large boy" Aslaug laughed at her granddaughters comments.

After lunch they went down to the reptile house, they made their way to a massive snake which could've easily wrapped around uncle Vernon twice. It was coiled up sleeping on a rock under the heat lamp, Dudley deemed this boring and demanded his dad make it move. Giving in he raised a fist and banged on the glass, "move!". "He's asleep!" Liva growled annoyed at their behaviour, "he's boring" with this the two walked away. The snake woke and stared at Dudley and uncle Vernon before looking at the ceiling as if to say 'i get that all the time', "i know it must be really annoying" Liva sympathised.

"Nice to know your daughter is as insane as you, talking to a snake" Sigurd sneered, Ragnar slapped the back of his head.

The snake nodded vigorously.

"Not insane if the snake answers" Floki giggled, making Ivar smile as well.

"Where do you come from anyway" Harry asked, the snake jabbed its tail at the sign telling them that he was born in captivity.  Suddenly a voice rang out making all three of them jump, "DUDLEY! MR DURSLEY COME LOOK AT THIS SNAKE! YOU WON'T BELIEVE WHAT IT'S DOING!" Piers yelled. Dudley waddled to the enclourse as fast as he could, "out of the way you" he punched Harry in the ribs caught off guard Harry fell and accidently took out Liva on the way. They sat up with Liva glaring at Dudley.

Everyone could help but notice in that moment how much the father and daughter looked like each other. There was no denying that she was his, the eyes, the angry expression and mischief were identical.

As the two children on the floor glared, the glass of the tank vanished.

"What the fuck!"

The snake seeing his chance uncoiled and slithered out onto the floor, people throughout the reptile house screamed and leaped away from the reptile. The two were startled when the snake stopped before them, "Brazil here i come...thanks amigo's".

"It talks!" "is it normal for animals to talk in the future?" the Ragnarssons were freaking out, while Floki leaned to Ivar "she truly is a gift" he smiled as he patted his hair.

The keeper of the reptile house was in shock, as he apologised to the Durselys. "But the glass. Where did the glass go?". The zoo director made Petuina a cup of tea as he also apologised over and over again, Piers and Dudley went on about how it was was trying to eat them. "Harry and Liva was talking to it, weren't you?". The two looked at Vernon in fear, both of them scared about what he would do to Harry, the car ride was even more tense than the one on the way to the zoo.

"I will kill the fat man" Ivar growled not liking that his daughter was afraid of him, he would protect her. "We will help and we will make it a painful death" Ubbe reassured his brother making him smile at him in thanks.

Vernon was so angry he could hardly speak, Liva at first refused to leave her friend shielding him with her body despite being slightly smaller. She refused to move, "you'll only make it worse for him, girl" he spat. Harry saw her internal struggle, "you should go, i'll be okay Liva" he tried to smile as he walked around her and made his way inside the house.

"She's a loyal girl" Helga smiled while she did see Ivar in the girl she also saw how gentle, loyal and protective she was towards her friend. "Her name is lovely" Aslaug thought out loud, "and approprate as it means 'protection' and she protects that boy" she carried on.

"Go-cupboard-stay-no-meals" he managed to get out before falling into his chair with a huge sigh and Petunia ran to get him a large brandy. Harry layed in his cupboard he didn't know the time but he knew it was late as it had been hours since the Durselys ate. He flinched when the door opened, Liva smiled at him, "want to get out for a few hours?" she whispered. The two tiptoed out the house, before making their way to the park. Liva pulled out some sandwiches, juice and a few cookies out her bag, she split it and gave him the larger amount. He ate quickly the ice cream the only thing he ate today, "I'm sorry i can't help more" Liva said softly her voice filled with guilt. "You help me plenty. I don't want to put you in danger" he replied as he munched on a cookie.

"She's a good friend" Hvitserk broke the silence watching the two children, she was kind of adorable in a terrifying way. Ivar was glad that she had a friend, her childhood wouldn't be as lonely as his.

"Still i always feel awful locking you in the cupboard. Which is why i move things around" she revealed much to the shock of Harry. "You're the ghost?!" he exclaimed before laughing loudly, "yeah i noticed that she was reading the conjuring" "i remember that it scared her so much she threw it off the pier" Harry interrupted. "I know and i brought another copy and drenched it in water before sneaking it back on her bedside table" she finished. "Did you do it about 3 months ago?" Harry asked still laughing, "yep" "She screamed the house down and started burning sage" Harrys laughter set her off. The two laughed until they couldn't breathe.

Ivar watched his daughter laugh brightly making him smile widely, he was happy that she was laughing and having fun. Aslaug saw this and exchanged a look with Floki both glad that Ivar was happier and smiling more. They would always be in Liva's debt for making him as happy as he was in this moment.

They sat and played would you rather until the sun was starting to rise, they walked towards Privet Drive. Harry walked into his cupboard full and content, "see you soon". Liva made sure that the front door was locked before climbing out the window. After moving around Vernons work items downstairs first, it was the only way she could get back at the Dursleys without causing Harry harm.

They laughed at her moving around the fat mans belongings, espically when they were shown how freaked out they get. Floki looked at the screen in wonder convinced that she was a gift from Loki, Ivar would be the most worthy of Ragnarssons for such a blessing.
