Curfew had just struck when Remus’s rounds had to begin, Lily was sick, so he had to do his rounds by himself as everyone else was paired up. He checked in with Minnie then began patrolling the 6th floor corridor.
As he was walking, he remembered that Earlier when he was at the dorm, James had mentioned he was going to stay in and hang out with Peter (kicking Sirius out the room). It was a weekly event that James had started ever since he realised, he had been unfair to Peter. Lily was hopefully in bed probably accompanied by Mary or Marlene. Merlin knows where Sirius is.
Suddenly he heard a loud racket coming from the Broom cupboard on his far right, he debated opening the door as he did not want to see some random couple with their tongues down each other's throats and even worse if it was Sirius and one of his fangirls let's say it's no fun seeing the man you're in love with making out with a random girl. After a couple of seconds of contemplation, he decided that he would do his job as prefect and tell them to return to their dorms or in other words fuck off. He got his wand out and ready and swung the door open.
When he looked into the cupboard, he was immediately relieved at the sight but also extremely concerned and shocked.
There sat the Heir to the Noble House of Black and one of the smartest girls he knew playing a muggle card game called Uno. On one side of the cupboard was Sirius Black sitting cross legged in his Queen shirt, Black Joggers and wand in his hair creating a bun holding by the looks of it around 15 cards and on the other side was Marlene McKinnon in her cropped Pink Floyd top and her Joggers holding significantly less cards (properly around 3 or 4). In the middle of them were a stack of uno cards and Marlene’s wand propped up creating a light.
Sirius look up and his eyes brightened then he said, “Moony I’m so glad you're here, Marlene’s beating me help.” with the biggest pout on his face. Marlene then said, “It’s not my fault you suck at the game." whilst smirking. Remus replied, completely ignoring their previous statements “Why the fuck are you guys playing uno in a broom cupboard when Marlene has a dorm?” to which Marlene said “Lilys being all stubborn about being sick claiming that she perfectly fine, but her sneezes could be heard in Hogsmeade for crying out loud”.” That makes sense now get your asses up, Marlene you're coming back to our dorm and Sirius, James and Peter are probably done." said Remus. "Okay Moony we’ll just get the cards and come back with you” replied Sirius with a smile on his face.
On the way back to the dorms Sirius and Marlene started bickering about the game they were playing whilst Remus made sure they didn’t walk into walls as they were so caught up in their argument.
When they arrived at the dorm, Remus opened the door and said, “Guess which dickheads I found playing Uno in a Broom cupboard whilst on my rounds" To James and Peter to which Peter immediately shouted out “Marlene and Sirius!” at the same time James burst out laughing. After Sirius came around the corner and screamed “You guessed right Pete” whilst doing jazz hands. They were sat on James's bed eating Chocolate Frogs and talking. Marlene entered the dorm, flopped on Sirius’s bed and shouted out “Come on Black we didn’t finish our game before Remus found us. Bet I’ll win like always.” with a winning smile on her face. “You're on McKinnon” replied Sirius as he crossed the room.
Remus grabbed his current read which was about the History of Nifflers that he borrowed from the library and sat on his bed whilst Marlene and Sirius told the events of their evening to James and Peter and played a new game of Uno.
This was defiantly one of his weirdest patrols, not the worst but certainly weird although nothing could beat when he stumbled upon Regulus Black, Barty Crouch Jr, Evan Rosier, Pandora Rosier and Dorcas Meadowes in an abandoned classroom chasing around three badgers. That was certainly an odd evening.
