~Ensnared~
Summary
Evangeline had enough to worry about already. Joining Hogwarts as a fifth year, dodging constant attacks from evil goblins, completing endless tasks from her professors, and trying to keep up with her regular studies was taking up enough time. On top of it all, however, she couldn't seem to shake a certain annoying, scheming, troublemaking Slytherin. This fic will be split into multiple parts. Part one is finished and being edited as it is posted. Part two is in the writing process. Each part will have ~8 chapters. I love to hear what you think, just please make sure if you have any criticism that you are not just being rude. Enjoy!

Evangeline shocked herself with her own behavior. Her mouth had moved without logic and lied for someone she barely knew. As the students arrived throughout the day, sharing Christmas stories and prized gifts from their families, Evangeline watched, trying to make sense of the thoughts in her head. She hadn’t seen Sebastian, -or Ominis, for that matter- since Hecat had questioned them in the hall. She was thankful for that, especially since she still didn’t know how to feel about the whole situation. No part of it made sense in her mind. How had he kept this a secret? How did they know about the hidden room? Why was Ominis willing to risk himself?

She shook her head. There was too much information to pull apart, and frankly, now was not the time. She held a small piece of parchment in her hand; her new class schedule for the semester. The schedules had appeared in everyone’s room that morning, and since classes started up again tomorrow, students were busy finding the quickest routes after having unpacked their things. Evangeline looked at her own, happy to know that Floo Flames were always an option if she didn’t want to rush around the castle.

She had attended flying, herbology, divination, potions, and transfiguration the semester before. Fig assured her that those had the least out-of-class work, and wanted to make sure she had time to adjust to the school without being overwhelmed.

These classes looked interesting, though. She was glad to have done some research over break, although certain distractions caught her attention more than she would have liked.

Something flickered in the corner of her eyes, and she turned her head. Beside her, a small, rough-edged piece of paper drifted to the floor, landing silently. She pulled her brows together, looking up and around to see where it would have come from. No one seemed to have dropped anything, or noticed the strange paper that had just appeared. She looked down at it again before taking it into her hands and unfolding it to find neat, sharp handwriting.

I’m sorry. Please give me a chance to explain all of this. -S

She knew who it was from before seeing the signature “S” on the end of the message. Her heart skipped a few beats. She had felt guilty for giving him a cold shoulder, but he was being foolish. Dangerous. Now he was trying to explain himself. Evangeline couldn’t imagine how he could ever come up with a good enough excuse for her approval, but she couldn’t help but respect his efforts to seek forgiveness. This was much different than the Sebastian who had blamed her in the library.

Fine. -E

She sighed, writing the response on the opposite side, using her wand to send it to Sebastian. It disappeared into thin air. Evangeline couldn’t help but snort when the paper had returned, a messy smiley face drawn in response to her agreement.
